Evan Rogers Ransom

I sought the services of Dr. Ransom last year for a corrective rhinoplasty. My experience with him and his team was average. He is a skilled surgeon. However there were some communication issues. I received conflicting information about drinking water before anesthesia. The anesthesiologist recommended plenty of water the morning of the surgery. Dr. Ransom said little to no water is to be consumed beforehand. It seems they do not communicate with each other. Before my surgery Dr. Ransom had also laughed at the size of my feet being too small for the socks he offered me. Two medical assistants also made unwanted comments about my physical size. They made baby noises at me when I had to share my height and just before I was about to be operated upon. I felt very uncomfortable about their lack of respect and related these instances to Dr. Ransom. After some initial denial, he was able to apologize on their behalf. With another member of his staff, the surgery coordinator, I experienced some difficulty asking questions about appointments and procedures. I received a scheduled time via email for my pre-operative appointment. Several weeks before the appointment I asked for a different time that worked better for me. The coordinator said she would check the schedule and respond with a different availability. I never received a reply, and so I assumed it slipped her mind. When I asked in person if it had in fact slipped their mind, the coordinator became very defensive. She said that there was a 5 p.m. slot but it was inconvenient for them (I would have preferred an honest answer of no upfront). She apologized but with quite a lot of attitude. Then I had to sit down with her to go over follow-up care. I had quite a few questions regarding this important operation and chose to ask some of them during her explanation. She again became testy that I had interrupted her. It was unfortunate to encounter such difficulty asking basic questions, especially given how much I was spending for this procedure (~$17,000). During the pre-operative consultation with the doctor, I had also tried to ask as many questions as I could about post-operative care. He seemed impatient and said to just look over the informational packet or email them with questions. He also failed to mention that I would be required to perform nasal massages three times per day for several months afterward. It was also not mentioned in the packet. These massages may seem like nothing. But it can be tedious to interrupt yourself multiple times a day while focusing on other things. It would have been helpful to be fully informed about the entire aftercare beforehand. Overall there was a general lack of respect, patience, and an inability to listen by the doctor and his staff. If you are spending so much money on such important procedures, do yourself a favor and patronize a clinic which does not resent informing you of your patient needs. For Dr. Ransom and his staff, please consider this as constructive criticism and be mindful of how you treat your patients.

I had always been tentative about any sort of plastic surgery to improve or refresh my looks, but at 75, I felt it was in my best interest to have a blepharoplasty. Dr. Ransom's approach gave me beautiful eyes, again. More importantly, because of a health issue I have, he did not recommend general anesthesia. The work was done only with a local and it was quite painless. His staff is helpful, caring and gracious, as well.

Dr. Ransom has able to improve my breathing tremendously while improving structural integrity of the nose by repairing a deviated septum. I consider Dr. Ransom to be both an accomplished physician and amazing artist; thank you, Doctor.

I feel so grateful to have worked with Dr. Ransom and his team. They are thorough, thoughtful, subtle, and extremely professional. I always appreciated the clear communication and documentation, and outside of my in-person appointments, the team was extremely responsive via email. They made me to feel welcome and safe at all times!

AVOID THIS DOCTOR AT ALL COSTS!!! He submitted to LAWYERS a patient history file with an incorrect birthday, incorrect age and EGREGIOUSLY incorrect surgery history. He says that I've had 8 surgeries that I've never had (nor even asked about!??) which is so incredibly sloppy and careless, I am absolutely shocked (in addition to outraged that this has affected my lawsuit). STAY AWAY!!!

I am very happy I decided to see Dr. Ransom to fix my previous filler I had done at a medical spa. Everyone in the office makes me feel safe and I always leave feeling amazing. I couldn’t be happier with the results of my resurfacing treatments after working with Dr. Ransom over the last 8 months. After several consultations with a few other practices, I decided to get treated here for my scars. Because of the depth and size of the scarring on my neck, I was nervous about choosing a place to ensure I would get the best results. We went over the options of treatment and he gave realistic expectations of the final result. Since the scarring was extensive, it took a combination of 1540 and CO2 laser treatments over several months. My scarring looks outstanding now and they are barely noticeable with better texture, flexibility, depth, and color. Dr. Ransom is an absolute master of subtlety: in his hands, you’ll be a noticeably fresher, brighter version of yourself, but no one will be able to pinpoint exactly why. There’s no telltale pulling or tightness in his facelifts. He is especially skilled at neck and jaw work, solving the sorts of age-related problems that no amount of dieting or topical treatments can fix. Simply put, Dr. Ransom is a miracle worker! I was unfortunate enough to have basel cell carcinoma right on the tip of my nostril. After having Mohs surgery at UCSF, the initial reconstruction of my nostril done by UCSF (which included taking a skin graft from my ear) failed. I was devastated! Luckily, my regular dermatologist referred me to Dr. Ransom for further follow-up. Somehow, magically - he fixed my mess of a nose that was missing a nostril! And all during the midst of the pandemic! From Day 1, his staff were so friendly and accommodating. I wanted to get it sorted quickly and even with reduced capacity and covid restrictions, they got me scheduled in for surgery super fast. They are absolutely fab. But, Dr. Ransom himself is the best of the bunch. He has a great bedside manner. Dr Ransom listened to my concerns, and did not try to sell me on anything I wasn't interested in. Although this seems very basic, a lot of surgeons could be better at this. Dr Ransom is very respectful and seems honest. I get a good vibe from him without much ego. very rare and special in this industry.

He was the last one I spoke with. He inquired why I was considering surgery and what my expectations were. He advised me what I could and should not expect. He listens to your concerns and then advises you what procedures he professionally considers to be appropriate for you to achieve your desired results. He reassumed me that result would be a more youthful and natural appearance. He didn't disappoint. Both my wife and I are very pleased with the end result. He has a caring bedside manner that encourages one to seek his honest advice without hesitation. I recently needed a plastic surgery procedure. I chose Dr. Ransom because, having had the unusual luxury of watching several plastic surgeons operating in the OR, I had the advantage of knowing that he has a most extraordinary artistic sense and is extremely detailed and meticulous in his work. Even knowing that going in, he exceeded my expectations in every way. I am beyond thrilled with the results, both functionally and cosmetically. If you need a facial plastic surgeon for any reason, you owe it to yourself to see him and to follow his recommendations. Walking into Dr. Ransom's office I felt immediately relaxed. His office staff were kind and accommodating and any nervousness coming to an appointment during Covid times was alleviated almost instantly. The professional and serious care his office takes to maintain a top of the line, impeccably clean medical environment, following all necessary procedures was not lost on me. I noticed everything even the air purifiers in all the offices as I came in. Dr. Ransom, himself, is kind and caring and also doesn't lack the softer interpersonal skills some other surgeons don't have. His approach is careful and thoughtful, and the execution was, in my opinion, the best experience I have had yet. This part of a service is so important because we all want to be able to get back to our lives with minimal aftereffects. I have never returned home with such minimal bruising in the days after, which I attribute to how gentle and skilled he is about understand the soft tissue and structure of the face. Dr Ransom is fantastic. I needed an expert for a mohs surgery reconstruction and I’m so glad I chose him. Being diagnosed with skin cancer was not a pleasant, but in the process I found Dr. Ransom. I’ve been a patient of his for over 2 years now, returned for some additional anti aging treatments *wink wink* I’ve never looked better! His staff is so sweet and helpful, too.

Dr. Ransom is excellent. I have seen him for several procedures over the past few years, and he is always calm, open to any questions, and reassuring. He also does wonderful work.

Dr. Ransom was very professional and answered all questions I had regarding laser scar revision, helping relieve my anxiety through the entire process (trust me, there was a lot of anxiety). He would respond to emails within the hour - I highly recommend this doctor. As for the procedure itself, I am happy with the amount of flattening and the visible appearance of my scar. I have one more laser appointment and feel like I am in good hands.

It was ok not the best. I had my under eyes filled and after the filler was in he never had me look at it to see if I liked it or not and just directed me to pay at the front, I was over filled and the area that I explained didnt need any filler, was filled hence, I am now over filled, it is ok and for the most part doesnt look bad from most angles so I will leave it but I am a bit disappointed as I had high hopes here and paid top dollar too :(

Excellent experience for getting a face & neck lift. Great prices. Excellent before, during and after experience.

I approached Dr. Ransom to undertake a dermabrasion procedure advertised on his website. Arranging a screening, at cost, Ransom told me he refused to perform the procedure... But that he recommended I undertake a different procedure. He sold me pretty hard on a Co2 laser for some facial scarring. I was hesitant, but he assured me it was what I needed. Dee seemed unpleasant from the beginning. She quoted me $1500 for the procedure, which was a lot for me. I took the quote and started saving up, convinced by Dr. Ransom's assurance that my skin could tolerate a deep pass with the laser (as I could not come in for multiple visits). The office seemed chaotic... I remember coming in and a nurse ran by me crying -- something about a horoscope reading? But I scheduled the session and was told that I needed to pay the full amount up front before they would see me. I was out of the area and left them my debit card number to withdraw the money. They kept calling, saying my card was no good! I didn't understand, I had the money, and they were threatening to remove my long awaited appointment date, so I called and said "OK. I will overnight you a check, to maintain my appointment." The next day, I received a call from Dee saying that they had taken my debit card number down incorrectly and that my card had been working fine the whole time! She asked for permission to charge the card. I told them I'd just sent them a check and that they could charge the card ONLY IF they tear up that check upon receival. They assured me, of course, no worries, they would tear up the check for $1500 and charge my card for $1500 instead. I arrived nervous for the appointment. Numbing cream and then nitrous oxide was given to me. Dr. Ransom continued to make several jokes and comments about my weight throughout the appointment, which made me feel horrible and self-conscious. When giving me the nitrous mask, I was inhaling it and leaned to hand it to the nurse when the doctor came in. I remember him saying "Woah! Careful there, big guy. If you fall on that floor, all of us here together would not be able to pick you back up." *laughs w/ nurse* The laser began to burn the skin of my face. It had a very strong smell, similar to burning hair. I said "Wow... That is an intense smell!" to which Dr. Ransom said "Yea! Smells like...DINNER! Eh, Big Guy??" I could not believe he was saying it. Did he think I was that far under I wouldn't register it? The smirk and attitude Ransom had when he said it, as if I was some disgusting creature. I was embarrassed. He implied I was so fat and hungry, I would be salivating at the smell of my own burning face. After the procedure was completed, I was ONLY THEN told that this Co2 laser requires 4 or more sessions! What?? Why would Dr. Ransom not have told me that BEFORE the appointment? Assumedly because he knew I would NEVER have agreed... It was a scam, from the very beginning. I went to speak to the receptionist and was told that, since coming in, the cost had somehow doubled from my quote! $3000 was now due. I was outraged. "No!" I said "I had agreed for $1500 to be deducted from my card. No more!" The receptionist held up my check, which I had explicitly told her to tear up upon charging my card. She said "This should cover the remaining $1500." Blood streaming down my face, I started yelling, outraged... Not only had they suddenly doubled the fee, but they were now arranging for that new fee to be paid, whether I like it or not! She refused to give me the check she'd assured me had been voided. She said I would have to speak with Dr. Ransom about it, it was his choice whether he keeps the check. Luckily, I made so much noise about it, he would have been foolish to have tried to go through with the scheme. The fact still remained that, in addition to the surprise doubling of the quote, there was now a surprise 4 additional sessions needed. I was livid... Unfortunately, my personal experience with the Ransom office was filled with aversion and dismay. Evan Ransom is a quintessential pretentious, and pompous, individual with a flaring Ivy League entitlement complex. Furthermore, his staff is incompetent and discourteous lacking all the fundamental congenial qualities that a successful medical practice should promptly prove towards clients. Moreover, this is the most overrated, and ill-equipped plastic surgeon in the Bay Area, with an atrocious staff. Ransom is solely focused on cost-cutting to improve his profit margins, over billing PPO health insurance companies, and lacks the true geniality of a great plastic surgeon. Lastly, Ransom incorporates many visually deceptive photographs of patients facial features by manipulating patients faces with lighting, and computer imagery to display a distorted version of your face. By encompassing these images, patients immediately display a sense of insecurity and vulnerability that exploits patients facial complexion. Thus, I deriving from a highly regarded graduate business program was completely astonished to experience such a lack of hospitality and reception. Dr. Ransom should strongly consider terminating his repugnant employment staff, and instead of misleading potential patients with inflated reviews online, focus on patient personal needs, and hold a much higher standard of patient care. -Buyer Beware don't let Evan Ransom hold your funds for Ransom and expect to get the worst Cosmetic Surgery experience in the entire Bay Area! - Check Out Dr. David W Kim or Dr. Dino Elyassnia notably superior and much more professional providers in the San Francisco Metropolitan Area. I had both Botox and fillers with dr Ransom none was good. Had to go back to fix it and it’s still not worth the 2k I paid for the smallest amount of fillers and Botox.

I was in a very bad car accident in February which lacerated my top lip. I had to have the top lip stitched up the day of the accident. Fast forward, my stitches ended up getting infected and I was left with an uneven lip that made it hard to talk and just looked super ugly in photos and when I had lipstick on. My mom found Dr. Ransom through some great online reviews & she had and recommended I set-up a consultation with him. The consultation was brief & he informed me that the scar revision would be performed as a “reduction” and would take about an hour and be done with local anesthetic. A part of me was really hesitant to have the procedure done because I didn’t want to go through the same stitches and pain again. I was also worried about the stitches getting infected like the first time, which was super gross and a pain. I ended up having the procedure a week ago and today I had my stitches removed. My lip looks back to normal again (on the outside) as if my accident never happened. The inside is still a bit fresh but so far looks even. As of now I’m so happy with the way things are looking! About 6 months ago, I had an excision from my nose of a rather large melanoma lesion. The following day Dr. Evan Ransome, plastic surgeon in San Francisco, took a graft from my left clavicle and filled the hole left from the excision with that graft. He did a great job. Six months later, one can't tell that I had this work done; my nose looks normal. And Dr. Ransome has been very conscientious in his follow up after the surgery, having seen me an additional 3 times. The logic was if I the surgical results weren't what I expected (which after my research, seems to happen a lot), I can recover to pay for a second one. Two shots are better than one. But that's what happened, two rhinoplasties with poor results. I was frustrated and not feeling optimistic but then I decided I'll give it one last try, but I had to do the research and carefully choose the right surgeon. What made me want to have my surgery done by Dr. Ransom was because of two reasons. First, a review I read from a previous patient of his stating they wanted something extreme done with their nose. Dr. Evan Ransom being the quality surgeon he is and knowing that a surgeon should never take a risk on something as serious as persons face, did a more conservative version of what the patient wanted but did not do the extreme alterations the person was willing to take. After this patients surgery, the person stated that their nose looked good and there was an improvement but did not get the extreme change they were hoping for. The person admitted what they wanted could've been a risk, for them looking terrible, but it was a risk they were willing to take. This review actually gave me ease because I'm an extreme person that takes risks. I'm a person who is willing to do something extreme for a maximum reward, even though there is a chance of an extreme downside, and it's good to have a professional to protect you from yourself. Second thing that steered me to do my procedure with Dr. Ransom was when I came into see him for a consultation. He instantly saw what I thought was wrong with my nose and knew what to do to fix it.... which doesn't seem like a big deal. But then after the consultation, I went to another well reviewed SF facial plastic surgeon to get a second opinion (which you should do if you are going to spend this amount of money) and the doctor (who I will not name) said he could not see what I was talking about, said I maybe delusional, and after I pointed out the issues with my nose, and him finally admitting he can "sort of" see it, said what I wanted could not be surgically done. Wow. I greatly appreciate Dr. Ransoms skilled surgical eyes which apparently is not guaranteed by even other talented surgeons. So both these things; a keen eye for the little details and protecting the patient from taking extreme risks is why I chose to do my revision rhinoplasty with him. In terms of the surgery, I finally got what I wanted! Dr. Ransom finally gave me the nose I envisioned since I was in my early teens. After two botched rhinoplasties, I'm finally satisfied with my nose. I am so grateful to have chosen the right plastic surgeon! Dr. Ransom and his staff were amazing! Every aspect of my experience from beginning to end was flawless and outstanding! I am 54 years old and after losing 40 pounds, I knew I wanted a neck and lower-face lift. Dr Ransome does excellent work. He’s a genius slow warmer I think. he does the gel fillers like no ones business....Straight up. Get over yourself and go. I mean he’s just fine, but he’s a little shy, very brainy, very honest and no one will know you’ve been to see him. If you need a lot of hand holding and mucho chat....may not for you. Very sad, $1,250 for a 20% chemical peel, which did nothing, most doctor's charge $450 for peels. Dr. Ransom's staff should have let me know at the time the appointment was made, I never thought of inquiring because I know what most doctor's charge. I expressed my dissatisfaction...

Doctor Ransom was super professional and clearly a well respected expert in his chosen field, nothing but good things to say about him. Unfortunately, his office manager Dee, was extremely rude, hung up the phone on me when I tried to reschedule an appointment and refused to take my call. I was called back later that day to advise they would waive the fee but not give me surgery. It's a real pity what a rude employee can do for th patient experience. I would strongly advise avoiding this place if you have to deal with a lady called Dee. Apart from being hung up on, this place seemed great, it's just a shame that this particular member of Dr Ransom's staff have to be so rude and have zero compassion. I would however, like to add some further commentary to this review. Since the above unsavory incident with the aforementioned member of Dr Ransoms staff. Both Doctor Ransom and another member of staff have contacted me and apologized in a genuine and thoughtful manner, I deeply appreciate this gesture which came with a spirit of compassion. This has made me feel far better about the situation. I have come to believe that maybe my experience with Dee was a one off, and maybe..she was just having a bad day. Let's hope that's the case so no one else need be disrespected in the future when seeking medical care. I am still out of pocket the time and money it has taken me to go on this journey to get my nose healed as they will not treat me and I have to find another consultant which will no doubt incur incremental out-of-pocket costs. I had three issues with my nose - which inhibited my breathing: 1- broken nose, 2 - narrow nostrils that collapsed when I inhaled through my nose, 3 - deviated septum. When I was living in New York, I went to see a doctor about my breathing issues, and he said my skin was too thin and there was likely nothing he could do to rectify the problem. Dr. Ransom was recommended by an ENT I saw through One Medical. As soon as he saw him, he said he could easily fix my nose, and remove the bump that had formed from the trauma. His confidence and strong sense of self immediately put me at ease, and I had little doubt that he could accomplish exactly what he promised. He showed me a modified picture of my nose , and really liked what he proposed. The end result very closely matched what he promised. Not only can I now breath much more easily through my nose, it looks much better. He managed to make it look like an improved version of itself, however I still look like me, and unless I tell anyone I had it done, it's not overly noticeable, which I prefer. I'm pretty vain and very critical, and I can say that Dr. Ransom is great, and comes highly recommended. Doctor Evan Ransom took my surgery on relatively short order and did a wonderful job. He is very talented and has a nice friendly professional support staff. I had a terrible surf accident in Bali and needed to get 50 stitches to repair what the reef did to my face. I had emergency cosmetic surgery in Bali the day of the accident. When I had a basal cell cancer removed from my nose, the surgeon who did that procedure offered just to suture the surgery site himself, but gave me the option of seeing Dr. Ransom instead. Choosing that latter option was the best decision I could have ever made! Dr. Ransom was a true artist in closing a deep, dime--sized wound in the best possible way to minimize the scar in the exact middle of my face. He has since done an laser procedure to further smooth and remarkably reduce that scar. His skills are top-notch, and he and his fine staff are a pleasure to interact with. I had several nasal/sinus issues including a severely deviated septum and a dorsal hump, which I wasn't crazy about. Dr Ransom did both the medical and aesthetic parts of my surgery and he did a wonderful job! While I did have some swelling, I didn't experience much bruising at all. I loved that he left the natural look of my nose just making small corrections. My breathing has GREATLY improved. Amazing, trustworthy, and attentive doctor. I had a big keloid on my ear removed from Dr. Ransom and anyone who's keloid prone knows that there's a high chance of the keloid returning after surgical removal. My keloid NEVER returned and my ear healed beautifully. It's almost as if the keloid was never even there to begin with. His assistant Dee Roby is also an amazing and wonderful person. Dee and Dr. Ransom made the entire experience delightful and I never thought in years I would be able to put my hair up again without feeling so insecure. When I was 19 I made the decision to gauge my ears. After 4 years of having them I decided they weren't for me anymore. I was skeptical of the surgery because it seemed too good to be true. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and I finally found Dr. Ransom. I made a consultation and it was very brief and informative and I decided to go on with the surgery. A month later I was back in the office to get my ears sewn up. It was so quick, so painless, and Dr Ransom and his staff made me feel really safe and comfortable. The surgery went so well. All of my friends have said that they can barely tell I had surgery and the only reason they can tell is because they know that I had the surgery. I have currently been getting botox regularly with Dr. Ransom and he does a fantastic job. My previous doctor's office moved to another location where it was no longer convenient. I didn't realize what I was missing until I went to Dr. Ransom. I felt really comfortable, but most important he did a terrific job blowing my previous doctor out of the park. (Sometimes it's good switch it up a bit to make sure you are getting the best treatment.) On top of that, Dee the office manager is an incredible asset to the office. She personalizes your visit and relationship with the office to an extent I have never experienced before. I even get follow up calls to see how I am doing after a treatment.
