In my opinion, he is honest and straight forward which is rare nowadays. I am allowed to ask questions and I receive answers from his NPs whom I see at the Fleming Island office. None of my other doctors will do this and act like everything is none of my business and is a big secret. My other doctors make me feel insulted and abused and I hate consulting with them. At Dr. McCoskey's I feel like I am taking part in my care which is how it should be because I know how I feel.
This review is not about Dr McCoskey personally, as I think he is a good doctor. This review is about his support staff and the incompetence that I have experienced with them over the last 5 months. In September, a nurse practitioner at his office told me that I needed a CPAP, as I had just taken a test for Sleep Apnea the month prior. I was told at this point that the CPAPs were on back order. After not hearing anything back from them for 3 months, I made another appt to see them for refills. The new nurse practitioner I saw asked me how my CPAP was working. I told her I never received one. She asked the people up front about it. They could not figure out what the holdup was and could not find where an order was made. They said they would put in a new order and I told them I would call them back in 2 weeks, if I had not heard anything. Two weeks came by without a call, so I called them back. I tried to talk to the woman in charge of ordering stuff and left her a voice

They told me to call back and press option 6. Of course, there was no answer, but I left another voicemail. I called back to the office and told them there was not and I was getting a little irritated that this issue had been going on for 5 months now. They patched me through to someone over them (And yes, I am leaving out specific names on this, but I do know them well). She states that my last sleep study was done in 2011 and they will need me to get a new sleep study. I explain to her that I just took a sleep study in August 2021 and that I gave the report directly to them in September 2021 at my appt. She asked me if I had another report. I told her I gave them the original and I gave them my doctorâs information where I took the sleep study, so they could call and get a new one. One week later, I call my sleep study doctor to ensure they had called (as it had been a week since I talked to Dr McCloskeyâs office). Well to my astonishment, Dr McCoskeyâs office had not even contacted them yet. I call Dr McCloskeyâs office for an update. I try the office manager again and no answer. I call the woman that orders the equipment and No answer. I call and talk to the individuals at the front desk who tell me that they only work on Tuesday and Wednesday at this location. I am like, so they do nothing for the patients at this location during the other days. A CPAP with something that has Sleep Apnea and other major lung issues could be life or death, so I am just supposed to wait for them while I have the option to die. I have hear of people much younger than 49 dying of this issue. Not closing the loop because of total incompetence is not an excuse. To end my true-life nightmare here, I have contacted my regular Dr, they are getting me a CPAP, and I have changed pulmonologists. Once again, good doctor, but the support staff is beyond incompetent.
I was rushed to Emergency Room. Trouble breathing. ER got me stabilized. Dr McCoskey checked all my pertinent tests and info. Two days later he did a Bronchoscopy and found I had a bad strain of Bacterial Pneumonia that was not showing up on tests except for chest x-ray and CT Scan. He got everything, put me on proper medication, oxigen and breathing spirometers. I spent 10 days in the hospital. He was there every day. He saved my life. If I had waited two more days , they said I would have died. Him and Dr Scott Nelson are anazing. I am 70 years and now I'm back to playing with my Great-grandchildren.

Dr. McCoskey and his staff are very professional and go above and beyond to make sure that we, his patients are taken care of. We are so Happy that he opened his own practice in Fleming Island. They all seem to be way less stressed. If you want a good lung doctor call him, he will get you in quick.

Gentle,no nonsense and caring physician who is honest and straightforward about your condition. i wish all Doctors would act like Dr McCoskey in treating and taking care of their patients. I have complete confidence in him and his staff. Needles to say I would refer my family and friends to him.
