Dr. Maasarani refused to release my mom from the hospital when she continued to have intermittent fevers. The Infectious Disease dr and GP doctor wanted to release her saying it was her CLL causing it. Although not his exact area, Dr. Maasarani knew that CLL by itself would not cause a fever. He believed along with the oncologist that there was an infection that had not been found. After 8 days, my mom ended up in ICU where it was determined she had a double pneumonia and UTI. Had she not been in the hospital at the time, she may not have made it. Dr. Maasarani followed her throughout her entire stay, was very caring and explained results clearly. I would recommend Dr. Essam Maasarani to anyone with kidney issues. My husband has had several health issues over the years and about a year ago he was in kidney failure. Dr. Maasarani was recommended to us at that time. He was the biggest blessing we could have asked for. He worked with my husband and his doctors and was able to get him back on his feet and feeling good. He not only extremely knowledgeable, he treats you like you are the only patient. We can’t thank him enough.

It's very sad that some Doctors have very little care for people unless they have the best insurance, where they know they will be paid. My boyfriend was foolish enough to let his Medicare get past him and so now he has to wait until July before it kicks in. But until then he needs some sort of medical and Medi-Cal was the only thing he can get at his age and he is definitely being dinged for it. Most Doctors don't want to see anyone that is on Medi-Cal unfortunately. My boyfriend is not some low life and shouldn't be treated as one. He was a longshoreman for the Port of LA. Unfortunately he wasn't able to get the years for retirement. which comes with insurance. He's a decent man and it angers me that he would be treated this way. Dr. Essam Maasarani may be a very good doctor, medically wise... but in my book a good Doctor cares about people and not just the money he makes off their insurance. We never even got to see him. Excuses. Which I'm sure has everything to do with the kind of insurance my boyfriend has.
