Dr. Ernesto J Ruas

I chose four months ago to investigate the possibility of getting my breast implants removed. They were clearly too big for my frame. I had them done for the first time almost 16 years ago with the primary goal of improving my shape (genetically, my breasts were somewhat cone shaped). Unfortunately, they turned out to be far bigger than I had anticipated, and the wear and tear caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding, age, and gravity made them even less appealing over time. When I walked in for my consultation with Dr. Ruas, I was determined on having my implants removed rather than having new ones placed. I also wanted a lift since I imagined my breasts would be sagging after so long with implants. After hearing my wish list (giant breast implants removed - add in a breast lift ), Dr. Ruas had an open and honest discussion with me about what my breasts may look like if he only removed the old implants and didn't replace them with new ones. Even if I had a breast lift, the chances of me having enough breast tissue to attain the form and size I desired were small. He was quite forthright in stating the truth of my request. While I was unhappy (I didn't want new implants), I appreciated his forthrightness, especially given his considerable experience, knowledge, and reputation. He gave me many options, one of which was to trust his judgment and let him decide whether or not to replace the implants with smaller ones during the surgery. This seems reasonable. I had great faith in his assessment. As our discussions progressed during my pre-op appointment and even on the day of my surgery, it became evident that Dr. Ruas's primary goal was for me to have the greatest possible outcome for the money I was investing. Because, at the end of the day, having cosmetic surgery is a significant commitment, not only financially and physically, but also emotionally. He was adamant about getting it properly the first time. He wanted my new breasts to make me happy. Dr. Ruas did not replace my implants in the end. It proved out that I had enough breast tissue to avoid the need for smaller breast implants. I was overjoyed. However, if we had to go that path, I would have been perfectly content with smaller implants. And it's because Dr. Ruas spent time educating me rather than merely providing me with what I desired. And for that, I am grateful beyond words. Dr. Ruas is a highly skilled plastic surgeon. His team/medical staff is fantastic, and they make the entire process go smoothly. Dr. Ruas did the procedure to my 8 months daughter about 13 years ago. I am in contact with him on and off for that long. He and his team are the blessings for the children of the community. Not only he is expert in his filed but very kind humorous gentle person. He could have made lot more money treating celebrities or elders. Instead of working with poor kids. I had a breast augmentation done by Dr Ruis. This man is nothing less than a gifted artist! He did an amazing job on my body.....and you would never guess I had surgery. Our daughter had bilateral cleft lip. During the pregnancy, we had a consult with our local big city children's hospital, which is widely known for how great their craniofacial team is. We were told to expect several surgeries with revisions, etc in the first year. Our daughter has other medical issues which also require surgery, so this was a great concern for us. We researched and found a facebook page where parents of cleft kids at that hospital had 8-12 surgeries by the age of 8, with photos showing children with large scars. When we found Dr Ruas, he explained that most of his patients require only one surgery on the lip and another on the palate and are typically good for many years. His results are so phenomenal, so we were pleased to place our daughter in his care. She had a large gap with little tissue; a bilateral cleft lip that went into the gum line. Dr Ruas was able to do the entire repair in one surgery! He is so incredibly skilled. Most children with cleft lip leave the OR with a thin upper lip with no shape. Our daughter has a perfectly shaped lovely upper lip thanks to Dr Ruas. We had to travel a good distance to get to him so he was kind enough to accommodate us and even reduce the number of office visits so we wouldn't have to travel as far. We are so grateful that we found him and we will be reminded daily in the beautiful smile that he has given our daughter. She deserved the very best and we found it in Dr Ernesto Ruas. Dr Ruas did my son's ear surgery and he did a beautiful job! His ears look perfect! I consulted with two other plastic surgeons and felt most comfortable with Dr Ruas. His staff is wonderful and he is very professional and kind taking time to listen to your concerns and explains everything. Would use him again for any plastic or cosmetic surgery need. Started with Dr Ruas when my son was born. He was my hero. He came in and took charge. The nurses had no idea on how to feed a child with a cleft. I had learned one month before he was born. That he would have a cleft lip /palette. Ruas is what I needed . and my son. He was very professional gave me great comfort. As I have told the story for 20 yrs now. We met Dr. Ruas when our son was 10 days old. When our son was 10 weeks old, Dr. Ruas repaired his cleft lip. He made us feel very comfortable with the procedure he was going to do, and the results were absolutely amazing! Our son is now almost 2 and no one would ever know he'd ever had any reconstructive surgery. Not only was his work amazing, but also his office staff. I almost get scared thinking I could have chosen anyone else. He is a Plastic Surgeon and his assistant Cathy is a Certified Plastic Surgery Nurse. GREAT combination! We've used Dr. Ruas for almost 10 years now for my 2 children's cleft repairs. I trust him 100% and love how dedicated he is to helping children born with facial differences.

I've been to Dr. Ruas several times since 2002 and have had 2 surgeries and a couple of minor procedures. I've never written a review but I should have long ago. He is the only doctor that I trust to do any surgery correctly. His staff is amazing and the doctor and staff are all kind, informative, personable and put their patient's care above everything. Dr. Ruas did amazing work on my daughter who had a frontal encephalocele. He reconstructed her forehead, nose and orbits. The scar on her nose is almost nonexistent. She looks fantastic! I would recommend Dr. Ruas to anyone!
