Dr. Rehnke is the most caring doctor I’ve ever had. He definitely always put patients first.

If I could do no stars I would. Do not go to this man if you want a good outcome. He needs to stop practicing.

This man almost killed me 20 years ago, He was still doing open surgery for gastric bypass. Afterwards I had absolutely no pain relief. I believe the skinny male nurse stole all the morphine from the pain pump. I was in agony, screaming, crying for help and no one came. They dropped me taking me off the operating table. Someone should have noticed that I pushed the pain pump a thousand times . Thats a signal you're not getting pain relief. Two months later I had organ failure because I couldn't even keep water down. I have not been able to stand up since that surgery. I went in alone. Make sure you have an advocate with you at all times. I may have been screaming or not. It was horrible. I had surgery with him many years ago, he is an amazing surgeon. I highly recommend him, I will go to him if the future need arises.

I went to Dr. Ernest C. Rehnke! In 2015! For an EXTREMELY! Supposed "SIMPLE?" Umbilical Hernia"REVISION?"And after waking up after the "PROCEDURE?"In a corner? Literally by some black bags of garbage? Where I found myself? On the ground floor of St. Anthony's hospital? In St. Petersburg, Florida! Then? Having to scream! In order for someone to attend to me? I was eventually moved up stairs to a room? For supposed rest & recovery????????? And when I was able to actually view? And l??k at the procedure "AREA?" IT ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE I WAS SHOT IN THE STOMACH W/A SHOT ?? GUN !!! I had "2" HUGE HEMATOMA'S! AND THEN NOTICED? THAT I HAD "NO DRAIN?" In order to relieve the build up of pressure! From ALL of the blood? And Dr. REHNKE? Had left NO FORWARDING information w/the hospital attendants? And NO RELIEF MEDICATIONS for me either! I immediately GOOGLED his name on my phone? And only then? Found out? That in 2015! He was the#1 Doctor in Florida! W/the MOST MEDICAL MALPRACTICE LAW SUITS ??!

An absolute nightmare! A complete and total failure in every way that required additional surgery that was devastating. I wasted away and could not even walk after the two surgeries performed by Dr. Ernest Rehnke and he was furious that l wouldn’t allow him to experiment even further with my life. Please don’t believe him and more importantly. Do not trust him. I believe he is a danger to anyone under his care.

He is sloppy at best. I abscessed and shouldve gone to the ER but did not out of naivety. He experimented on me and in my opinion should not be allowed to perform surgeries. He cut a huge elliptic of skin and did a modified tummy tuck of sorts when it was supposed to just be a hernia repair. I have had 4 ab surgeries total and his was the absolute worse. I am afraid to even have it repaired as he caused me to have horrible health issues for a long time. My stomach skin is cold to the touch and numb...surgery was 10 years ago. Do not use him.

Dr. Rehnke performed BCIR surgery on me in 2014. Because of him, I have reclaimed the quality of life I once had. I am forever grateful to him. I hate to hear of people passing away during surgery. I, however, know Dr. Rehnke well, and he is a very nice person who seems to care deeply for his patients.

Horrible experience, I literally woke up during surgery and at some point during that time they placed a central line in me that I told them in advance that I am allergic to tha tagaderm they normally place over the line, and it became infected and when I asked about the surgery he told me there was no issues. I was supposed to have been in the hospital for 3 weeks and ended up there for 8 weeks. I had to go to Los Angeles to have my surgery redone. The surgeon in L.A. said Reinke tore my intestines up. I wouldn't recommend him to a dog.

The nurse's and physician assistants are extremely helpful when I've had to call with questions living in Ohio. They understand that I cannot just hop in the car and drive clear down there. So I finally found a GI doctor here who is willing to video chat with Dr Rhenke during a scope procedure I've got coming up

Dr. Rehnke did my bcir, he is the best surgeon I've ever had, my scar looked like i went to a plastic surgeon and i was very surprised he was able to do the bcir. I have had previous surgery at the Cleveland clinic in ohio and had a jpouch, i looked like i was cut with a butter knife and it was done by their number one surgeon, i had alot of complications after inside and out. Dr. Rehnke is a kind and gentle man and a very skilled surgeon. He is quiet, humble and soft spoken, with the kindest smile. He took care of me and saved me from having to have an external appliance glued to my ever so sensitive skin for the rest of my life. My life would not be the same without Dr. Rehnke. Now he is gone, and I no longer have a Dr. to care for me. The hospital that once boasted....flaunted the BCIR has abandoned thousands of patients in need. The procedures Dr. Rehnke performs are very unique and are a gift to so many. Other doctors walk the cattle shoot and do nothing but the ordinary. While all other Drs. are gluing poop bags to their patients and stapling them up haphazardly, Dr. Rehnke chose to help people have a better life so that we can live with more confidence. He was very meticulous about my surgery and corrected all the other doctors' mistakes that were made in my abdomen, both internally (my pouch) and externally (a hideous scar). Now I have no one in the event I have a complication (adhesions and possible obstruction are not uncommon with any abdominal surgery. Should this happen to me again, no one will touch me. I have had multiple surgeries done by Dr Rehnke. He's done my BCIR surgery and several minor surgeries. Dr Rehnke is very good at what he does. He's a very caring and compassionate Doctor and Surgeon and I have not hesitated, nor would I ever hesitate to have him operate on me. Dr Rehnke is a brilliant surgeon!! He took out half my colon from cancer and saved my life!! The surgery went well and the after care was exceptional. Some reviewers fail to understand that Dr Rehnke takes on extremely high risk patients, cases other doctors would walk away from, because he cares! Cases like that are not always going to be successful, but you're in better hands with him than any one else in town! I had a simple port surgery done by another surgeon because I changed insurances and Rehnke was not a provider. I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2016. I lost 165lbs in the first 14 months. I have been maintaining 148-150lbs body weight for the last 2 years. I have been given a new lease on life!

It's odd that many of the bad reviews on this thread seem to use the same verbiage - "do your research" - and also seem to be related, having the same names, also seem of same ethnicity. Many other people have found Dr. Rehnke to be a very kind, compassionate and skilled surgeon.

It not only takes Dr. Rehnke as your surgeon, it also takes yourself in order to have success. It requires daily effort and hard work as a patient. I personally am down 110 pounds in 10 months but it still is hard work. He and his staff are extremely nice and respectful and if you have a bad month at weigh in he and his staff are very supportive. Would highly recommend.... After working with his staff for nearly a year he had his office manager call to tell me that he will no longer be performing bariatric surgery. Paperwork from other doctors have been misplaced by staff and I have had to call his staff to find out where we were in the timeline of surgery. They have recomended another doctor but honestly I’m just feeling it must not be a good idea. I will check out some doctors in the next month.

I had a infected wound from Bariatric lap-band surgery. It got increasingly worse for 3 months. Dr. failed to treat the infection properly. Infection got so serious, I went to my family Dr. I then had to have lap band removed 4 months after surgery by another surgeon. I have documentation available for Healthgrades to reveiw that supports my poor rating.

After 17 years of battling with Ulcerative Colitis Dr. Rehnke performed BCIR surgery on me in 2016 and gave me my life back. I can't say enough kind words about him and his entire staff. The nurses at Palms of Pasadena Hospital are the best I have ever had. Thanks Doc.

Dr Rehnke is a one of a kind surgeon. He provides excellent, unique surgical care while maintaining contact with and providing followup care for his patients (his BCIR family) with caring and excellence. Just returned from a visit to Palms of Pasadena over 10 years post-op and was as pleased with the care in 2017 as we were in 2007. His staff in the office AND in the hospital are all top-notch!! I have never met a surgeon with more patience and a better bedside manner than Dr. Rehnke!

Dr.Rehinke has been outstanding he did a lap band in 2014 I have had no complacations from the surgery he was excellent .He has also helped me on trying to keep the weight off ..Dr.Rehinke and his Staff from the front desk to all his nurse's are the BEST

I had hernia 5 weeks ago by Dr. Rehnke , his staff was great . Dr Rehnke was wonderful on my office visits and in the minutes that he came in to see me at before my surgery at the surgery center. I feel that I recouperated faster than my previous hernia surgery on the other side 14 years ago , either I'm getting tougher or he did a great job . thank you , Ed Peters
