AVOID. This man does not listen and is incredibly dismissive. My husband had to go back a week after an extraction for severe pain and we asked for an antibiotic but he wouldn’t prescribe one. now there’s a painful infection and he might need surgery again if this doesn’t heal. If he had listened the first time we returned we could have avoided so much pain. He pulled pieces of teeth out of his gums today WITHOUT NOVACAINE. Terrible experience.

He was very rude and arrogant… I guess he couldn’t really help me in my situation… I have a problem with my upper lip my artery gets tight… He said there’s nothing wrong with my upper lip ....nothing you can do ....you have an overbite see a orthodontist… He’s like what do you want me to do???Was telling me I was basically stupid and what arteries are etc. I was so upset! If you are terrified about going to an Oral Surgeon don’t be IF you see Dr Eric Smiga. He is gentle, kind, compassionate and a wonderful surgeon. I was so afraid of the shot given in my palate and honestly he is so good, it was painless! He extracted 2 teeth in about 30 seconds! I can’t say enough good things about him and his assistants and office staff are so friendly and wonderful too....great experience!

I had broken off root tips embedded in my gums in the back in my mouth. They were getting infected constantly. Dr. Smiga was able to remove them and I haven't had an infection there since.

Dr. Smiga is the BEST!!! He is very professional, knowledgable, and caring. He has done tooth extractions, wisdom teeth removal and an implant for my daughter. She has never had any complications. In fact she never even bruised or had swelling after her wisdom teeth were removed. The South Hills Office staff are exceptional as well. My son will be due for some work in the near future and we will definitely be returning to Dr. Smiga at Pittsburgh Oral Surgery. Dr. Smiga is the BEST!!! He is unprofessional, uncaring, insensitive, disrespectful, etc., and is nothing but self-concerned and looking for money. He made an appointment, knowing what I wanted and that he was not going to help me, shot an expensive X-ray, kept me waiting, rudely addressed me with wrong information, then said he couldn't help me (make money off me,) and I should "do nothing" and live the rest of my life without teeth. He wished me "good luck!" Don't use him. He mistreated me; you know it is in him.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Smiga to anyone who needs an extraction done. He is so kind and caring about how you’re doing during the procedure that he really makes you feel relaxed and at ease. It’s a great feeling to know that when you need this type of dental procedure, you don’t need to look any farther than Dr. Smiga and his staff at Pgh. Oral Surgery. If anyone ever tells me that they need to get a tooth pulled I’ll definitely advise them to call and set up an appointment.

PLEASE READ. ‪i had my wisdom teeth removed two months ago. i followed all the post op instructions very carefully yet i was back in the office 6 days later for dry socket. a month after surgery i was back in the office for an infection where i had dry socket. i took the antibiotics and did everything they told me to. it is now two months after surgery and i have ANOTHER infection so now they have to cut it back open, clean it and re stitch it‬. i was just back in the office today AGAIN and he prescribed me "the same antibiotic i had taken before" only to take it to my pharmacy to be filled and they say they can't fill it because it has something in it im allergic to. how stupid can they be to not check my allergies before prescribing something. this is the worst expierence i've ever had. Dr. Smiga removed my wisdom tooth in less than a minute. To my amazement it was a painless procedure even though he only anesthetized the area around the tooth. I had very little bleeding and almost no pain during the evening and night following the extraction. He's very skilled and explains exactly what he's going to do. When I called for the appointment, my dentist said the tooth needed to come out within the week. Although Dr. Smiga was going on vacation, his office staff managed to fit me into his very busy schedule before his departure. I had an excellent experience with this entire practice. Would not recommend this office for oral surgery. The wait time is excessive and they're very unorganized. I was sent clear to out to Tarentum, when I live 2 minutes from the Monroeville office, to supposedly get seen sooner, just to be rescheduled! I'm never going back it's ridiculous!

Dr Smiga is very sensitive to the comfort of his patient. I was very fearful that the procedure I was to have done was going to be a nightmare. He was very helpful. I highly recommend him. He's a credit to his profession. The office girls were also very friendly.

Wonderful experience. Staff and Dr. Smiga extremely friendly, courteous and understanding. Took me early and procedure was over in about five minutes. Anticipation far worse than procedure itself. Thanks for a great experience.

Dr. Smiga was very rude and condescending. He did not explain what the plan was going to be and barely answered any questions.
