Dr. Eric William Nottmeier

The care I received before, during, and after my surgery was simply amazing. I have NEVER EVER witnessed, much less experienced , so many loving, caring, helpful, angelic, respectful, professional and just genuinely beautiful souls in one space. If you ever find yourself losing faith in humanity, then go to the Mayo Clinic campus. I really don't have adequate enough words to describe the level of treatment and care that I received during my surgery stay. To To All of the Doctors, nurses and techs that took care of me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are an incredible group of people and the high standard care and patience you showed me is extremely appreciated. You are a credit to your profession and I feel blessed to have been taken care of by each of you.

Dr. Nottmeier was thorough, patient and went above and beyond in explaining options for further non-surgical treatment. We were impressed with the amount of time he spent with us, and has since followed up to monitor progress

I saw Nottmeier in 2020 for Lumbar back pain, Bertolotti’s syndrome. Spect scan ordered, Nottmeier tells me it is not my pain generator and sends me to orthopedic and RA. I get no answers, the same as when I searched at home for a neurosurgeon. We drove 6 hours to the Mayo Clinic bc I believed I would get the best care, I did not. Fast forward, I found a neurosurgeon who ordered a MRI of my entire spine bc he finds that there could be something else going on in my spine. Severe cervical spinal stenosis. Nottmeier could have ordered images to solve my back mystery. It really wasn’t a mystery, Nottmeier didn’t take time to listen nor diagnose. He wanted to put a spinal stimulator in my back without investigating where the pain generator is in my back. Save your time and energy- see someone else. Oh, he also called me when I sent an email telling him I was using Dr Jenkins which I didn’t ask him to call me, he CHARGED me to tell me he didn’t agree with Dr Jenkins.

How can I say this without sounding rude oh well I'll just say it doctor notmeyer seems to be very professional but not very sociable, prior to my surgery I met him one time for about 15 minutes which he explained the surgery to me and my son but I never saw him again, with that being said the day of my surgery he did not come to greet me right before my surgery and right after my surgery he did not come to me and tell me how the surgery went and for my follow-up I had a pac me instead of himself that I think is very unprofessional because us patients would like the reassuring words of our surgeon that doesn't mean he's a bad guy I'm pretty sure he did a wonderful job on my neck but you have to be able to speak with your patients right before surgery and right after thank you sincerely Lisa Santos How can I say this without sounding rude oh well I'll just say it doctor notmeyer seems to be very professional but not very sociable, prior to my surgery I met him one time for about 15 minutes which he explained the surgery to me and my … More

Surgery for Chiara malformation went extremely well and easy. I would always use him if needed.

Highly recommend Dr Eric Nottmeier, neuro surgeon at Mayo for anyone having major back issues. Truly the best in this field! He has been instrumental in giving me back mobility and allowing me to be able to do the activities i love once again. He has fixed all my neck n back problems over the years and nailed it this time once again. He is extremely meticulous in diagnosing, trying all available interventions (w out wasting ur $) before deciding to cut. Much Thanks and love to this miracle worker! Absolutely the best! I never expected to have the pain relief I got nor be able to drive again in just two weeks. Will see him again soon for a newly emerging problem. His competence, personality, and professionalism are outstanding.

Dr. Nottmeier has done two lumbar fusions and one cervical fusion on me. All were successful and one was really life changing for me as I had reached the point that I could not longer stand or walk for more than 60-90 seconds without unbearable pain. While the Mayo bureaucracy is a deterrent for me, I will still go there in order to see him. He is honest and straightforward in his assessments of what should and should not be done and is a caring person and surgeon.

Went to two MD for my back. Wished I had gone to Dr Nottmeier first. Best decision I have ever made for a physician.

Finest Surgeon one could hope for. Skills are matched only by his caring and concern for his patients. as someone who has had 7 spinal surgeries I would never go to anothe doctor. He has saved my life on one occasion and has kept me out of a wheel chair.

I had to get back surgery and the whole process went great.

Dr. Nottmeier not only fixed my new foot drop, he fixed my old lack of plantar flexion. He is an incredibly gifted surgeon. His PA is excellent. Their entire office is professional, kind and compassionate. I was off pain meds three days after surgery. I am just thrilled with my experience with them. I am walking 3 miles every day.
