I recently had a mole on my eyebrow removed by Dr. Choe. Beyond being petrified of the procedure itself, I was very concerned about the prominent location on my face. My fears were completely misplaced. Not only was there no pain during the procedure, but as soon as the stitches came out, you can barely notice where they were. I went to see Dr. Choe to get nevus removal on my face. I had 6 moles to remove which were all in different shapes and sizes, so I had no idea what to expect initially. Initial consultation was very thorough with before and after photos of his previous works. He also explained the procedure- especially about preventing scars which was my main concern. Day of the procedure was swift and efficient. I was allowed to take tylenol after the procedure, but there was no need because I truly did not experience pain after Dr. Choe’s work besides the tolerable minor aches. Prep for surgery and scheduling/ confirming appointment were thoroughly explained by Christina- she is also very wonderful! (Also, very prompt responses via email) I was very cautious as to whether or not going under the knife would be worth for a cosmetic procedure, but it was worth every cent and time. I had an excellent experience with him as he explained the procedure. He was very patient, listened to my concerns, and answered all my questions. I had my eyes done with Choe 8 years ago, and to be honest was questioning if I should try another doctor. Maybe someone with a newer practice. But I decided to go with Choe for several reasons: 1) he’s conservative about his approach to surgery, 2) he listens and asks specific questions about your desired results, 3) he is very generous with his time, pre-op and post-op. After years of thinking about getting double eyelid surgery, I was lucky to get an appt with Dr. Choe. As soon as you meet him, you can feel his compassion for his patients and his professionalism. I was very adamant about having a natural, yet fuller teardrop shaped breasts and Dr.Choe listened to what I wanted and he promised to do the very best as a surgeon. I've been wanting to get double eyelid surgery for the last 10 years and I finally had the guts to go through with it. I was originally going to shop around to see how I felt about the different plastic surgeons in NY. But when i went for my free consultation with Dr. Choe, I was enamored with his polite staff that made me feel very welcome and the feeling was only increased when I got to sit with Dr. Choe himself. Most doctors I've met are quick to dismiss patients once both parties have the necessary information but Dr. Choe was different in that he really wants to know the patient. I had an accident and hurt my nose last week. My nose was cut and was bleeding. I was not sure if I needed to run to ER, broken nose or what to do.... There was quite a bit of swelling for a few weeks after the surgery, and we were quite worried about how her eyes would eventually look. But after about 8 weeks, her eyes and brows look quite different and a lot better than before. She looks the same, but also definitely younger. In December, I met Dr. Choe for an eyelid surgery consultation. His office in Manhattan is convenient to get to with MTA stations around the area. When I first stepped into the office, I was greeted by the front desk staff and nurses who were as kind as can be, and helpful. I filled out some paper work and met Dr. Choe within 10 minutes or so. Dr. Choe checked my eyelids and he recommended the crease size that he thinks will make my eyes look natural and beautiful. For me and I imagine most people, I did not want to lose the integrity of what I look like (ironic, I know); I did not want to step outside and look totally different and not myself. I also asked him for his opinion on whether or not I should also do my lower eyelids since the puffiness in my lower eyelids also bother me a little bit. Dr. Choe clarified that what I had in my lower eyelids were not eye bags, therefore I did not need to do the lower eyelids. During the entire consultation, I felt very comfortable and I trusted Dr. Choe’s professional assessment. I never felt pressured to get anything done. He truly is one of the kindest doctors I have ever had the pleasure of being a patient. I always feel better about life in general when I leave because he’s so easy to talk to and he truly cares about his patients. A few weeks later, I decided I’m going to do it – I’m going to finally get eyelid surgery. I called and scheduled for end of January. About a week prior to the procedure, the nurse called me with preliminary instructions on what I should be doing. She also filled prescriptions for me at the pharmacy so I can have the antibiotics ready after the surgery. The day before, she called again with more detailed instructions. The nurses and staff at Dr. Choe’s office never miss anything! They were always on top of it and were always in regular contact with me. I also felt that if I had questions, I can call at any time. On the day of the surgery, I had a very light breakfast, no coffee. I arrived early in the morning. The nurse checked my blood pressure, heart rate, etc… She also gave me some medication to relax and took a few pictures of my “before” eyes. Then, I changed into a hospital gown and was led to an operating room. For me, I had wanted this procedure done since I was in high school so I have read a lot about it. I had heard from other patients who had this procedure done that the initial shots to the eyelid can be painful. However, I felt no pain when the shots were given. Actually, I felt no pain or discomfort during the entire procedure. I was awake and alert, with Dr. Choe and the staff talking to me. About an hour later, I was led to a room to rest. The nurse put an ice pack on my eyes and I rested for a little bit. I then called an Uber and a staff member walked me to the Uber outside (in the snow!) and she helped me put the ice pack on my eyes for the ride home. She said to call her if anything happens – she seemed really worried about me but I told her that I was going to be OK! My eyes were bruised and swollen as I expected, but after about 3-4 days, I was comfortable with leaving the house and going outside. It’s now been a month or so and I LOVE my eyes. I get compliments all the time but for me, most importantly, I am happy that I did this procedure for me. I like looking awake; I like that wearing makeup on my eyes is a little easier now, I just LOVE the way they look - so natural and pretty. I am so elated that I got this done with Dr. Choe.
