A very professional, efficient and intelligent visit about a complicated spine issue. Dr Pena was very clear about what he could do and where we are currently and how to take the next steps. I really liked the office operations and Dr Pena. I look forward to working to help strengthen and protect my body to keep pain at bay.

I had a back fusion surgery in 2018 at another facility that did go as well as I hoped. I saw Dr Pena for a second’ opinion. He carefully discussed the existing x-rays and other aspects of my situation in a manner and language I could understand. We planned out the next steps. Great doctor.

Saw Dr Peña after a referral from my orthopedist. He was very thorough, answered my questions, briefed me beforehand about my procedure, and told me what to expect afterward. Excellent experience.

Dr. Pena is a very compassionate and personable doctor. I have degenerative disc disease, and several years ago had anterior and posterior neck surgery, fusion of c-3 through c-6. Unfortunately, the disease has made its way to my lumbar. Dr. Pena, realizing that I’ve been through extensive surgery, is treating me as conservatively as possible. I trust him implicitly, and I know he will give me the best advice possible. His nurse and his staff are very helpful and friendly as well. My faith is in his treatment.

Dr Pena and his staff are the best! Kind, patient, caring and compassionate. The only reason for the the 4 star rating was because of the wait and late getting me the sedation. Dr Pena was so good with the spinal procedure that I was not really nervous and didn't need sedation. He me calming talked me through everything he was doing. Awesome!! Dr Peña is very knowledgeable and diagnosed the situation immediately.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Peña for 3 years for treatment for back pain due to stenosis. And I recently saw him regarding development of neck pain. He has always seen me promptly when scheduled for consultation or injections and explained in detail his diagnosis and treatment options and his recommendations. The treatments have been very effective. I am completely satisfied with his care. He is very easy to talk to and answers all questions with obvious intention to insure patient understanding. I would highly recommend Dr. Peña to anyone suffering with spine issues.

Always courteous, professional and personable.

No wait. Spend a good deal of time discussing my back issues. Did not try to force any particular treatment. Very upfront conversation and assessment. I will not hesitate to return.

Dr. Peña and his medical assistant Sherly are the BEST! I’ve been going to their office now for nearly 2 years. Dr pena was extremely thorough and very friendly. Gave me several options and was confident

I met with Dr. Enrique B. Peña regarding my spine. I also had another issue with my shoulder and a rotator cuff tear. Dr. Peña looked at both MRI’s to try to determine where the pain was coming from and he decided based on the MRI and discussing where my pain was coming from that it might me the shoulder and rotator cuff tear. He decided to treat my shoulder with a cortisone injection and said to let him know how I was feeling in about a week. Today is the following day after injection and I can already feel a difference. There is still pain but does not feel as severe as before. Dr. Pena took his time to listen to me and to evaluate both MRIs instead of just looking at the cervical herniated disc MRI. I highly recommend him because he didn’t rush, he thoroughly listened and evaluated the case. Kudos to this Doctor Who needs to be acknowledge.

I saw Doctor Pena for the first time after one previous attempt to treat my disc herniation pain was unsuccessful. I've had several treatments with him now, and his aim is true. He had successfully taken my pain away multiple times. I trust him. You will more than likely be happy with him.

I had an excellent experience. Sherry was great in putting me at ease. India was wonderful making sure I was comfortable. She talked to me until the procedure was about to start. I can’t say enough about Dr Pena. He explained all about the procedure, the odds of success, even showing before and after X-rays of my cyst. I did the paperwork ahead of time and checked in online as directed. There was no wait time to be taken back to the exam room. The doctor came in very quickly. He was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. He did his exam and was very patient in answering all of our questions . Dr. Pena and his MA Sheri are totally amazing!! They treat you like family and are so caring and helpful!!

Dr Pena is a spine specialist. He had treated me for 6 years with PT and injections for pain relief. He treats my daughter also. His office staff is first rate. Clean offices, professional and a sense of humor

Excellent care facilities!

While the doctors are clearly talented, the production focus of this practice is off putting and disconcerting. Little to no value placed on patients. Sadly a poor experience. If I could give less than one star I would.

Dr Pena and staff have treated me for pain and weakness in my back and neck. I highly recommend him. They are professional, informative and compassionate. Dr Pena has kept me out of the surgeon’s office with his expertise and treatment. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I have gone to Dr Pena for several years I would highly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable and most of all caring and listens to your concerns. His staff is wonderful, always gets me in quickly and returns calls. His assistant Sherri is very kind and helpful. I appreciate all they do.

Dr Pena was excellent for me over a couple of years. He and his assistant were caring and responsive. Definitely recommend.

I would highly recommend Dr. Pena. He is very intuitive to understanding your pain problems. He explains his procedures and any questions you have. His office is very friendly and helpful.. His nurse Shari is tops.

His staff sucks, I had an appointment with him for severe back pain, I had to travel about 20 miles to his clinic , I was only 3 minutes late because there was an accident on the way , they cancelled my appointment for just being 3 minutes late , I thought that was cruel and ridiculous. I talked to his nurse, Sheri , she still refused to take me in , I also left a message for him to call me , but he never did.

He is an excellent doctor, who listens to you and provide you a proper help. But his nurse is not organized at all, and does not respond to the patients. I recommend him to change the nurse to keep his rating.

He is an excellent doctor, but his staff has very unprofessional management skills. They dont respond to emails or phone call, and care LEAST for the patient's issue.

I was 3 min. late after driving 50 min. and spending 1 1/2 hours stuck in traffic to get here. The doctor was still in with a patient when I arrived they refused my appt. They want me to reschedual for 2 1/2 weeks from now. That is rediculous. There where other people in the office waiting. I will be looking for a different dictor. I am a senior citizen having a bad case of spine and lower ribs pain. I was referred to Dr. Pena by my primary physician for back pain. I was asked to undergo a ultrasound scan of my spinal Cord and sometime last month we consulted D. Pena again. From the appointed time.He came about 30 minutes late he informed me that my spinal column bones were not showing any deformation or any other abnormality hence he ruled out any problem with my spine. To be helpful to him I informed him that I had shingles and approximately from there on I had back pain. He refered to my medical info which I had given him previously and he immediately informed me that it was probably shingles Virus that were causing pain and prescribed me a trial dose of Gabapentin. I found comfort in that and I got my dose doubled. He had fixed a review consultation today (16th October 2017 at 8. 15 am) We live about 20 miles from his clinic and hence we started 1 hour early to avoid Monday morning traffic. There was unprecedented congestion of traffic and we reached about 5 minutes late than allowed 15 minutes late rule. I requested the reception staff that we were held up in traffic and had tried unsuccessfully many times to inform by my mobile phone to inform the doctor that we will be late. The reception staff came back after consulting the doctor that our appointment was cancelled and we should re fix a new appointment . I request once again but the staff did not budge and hence I opted to take back my medical records informing her that I did not want to consult a doctor, who was held up in traffic and made us wait for 30 minutes and the same doctor would not see us squeezing us later the same day. This was highly unprofessional and bad business behaviour . I cannot drive on highway due to my problem and have to ask my son to drive me to and fr doctors clinic . He has to get leave of absence from his office and come with me. The doctor often deals with seniors and must consider problems we seniors have. I would hence request the doctor in question to consider such things before cancelling appointments due to problems like mine. I am very sad and am utterly dissatified by spine centre of Seton family hospital in Austin. Think many times dear seniors before visiting this doctor. Sorry he does not deserve any star( but I cannot post without giving any star hence single star). Nor does his unhelpful reception staff. I have had a great experience with Dr Pena and his staff. Everyone has been friendly and attentive. The staff helped me with my insurance concerns and questions. Dr Pena was excellent! He explained in detail what procedures I needed, set a timeline, let me know about my current medication concerns with the treatment and set my expectations regarding outcome. I was a patient of Dr. Pena. Try getting some better doctor if you can.

Absolutely zero.

Horrible. I felt the needle go in my back. It caused spasms and nerve pain down my leg. When I told Dr Pena did he Stop? No he did not stop but instead leaned on the needle with most of his weight to try and get through the ligament. I told him it's still hurting horribly so he finally took the needle out and put it in a different spot. I told the nurse about my pain the next day and she nor the doctor cared. I did not go back and will never again go back to Dr. Pena. The office visit I had with him before the procedure should have been a warning. He did not listen about my concerns, my back pain or my health history. The procedure set up is like a conveyor belt. Change, waiting area, procedure and sit in recovery chair then the next person does the same- about every 15 minutes. What a racket! Horrible. I felt the needle go in my back. Never bother to check the X-ray or the medicine I'm currently taking. Felt like he treated me as a whiner. Prescribed me CRAPPY med that's bad for my heart! Do your homework and research the rx before you get them!

Dr. Pena and Sheri are very professional, courteous and on time. I liked how he explained everything to me in a way I could understand and knowing my education, he did not dumb it down or make me feel stupid when he was communicating with me.

I have been suffering from significant spine/hip/leg pain. Dr. Stokes (same practice) referred me to Dr. Pena as a potential alternative to serious fusion surgery. I have, unfortunately, had a lot of medical issues from breast cancer to on-going problems with my back. I've seen poor doctors and really good ones. Dr. Pena spent the greatest majority of our first visit assessing my situation, looking at all my xrays and MRIs and other physician notes and .. most importantly .. talking to me.

Sucked the money out of my pockets. Gave me multiple shots that did not work and instead of calling to see if they worked, each time I had to take time off work, pay a $60 copay for a 2 minute appointment when he could have just had a nurse call. Best of all, the last 2 minute appointment was to tell me there is nothing else he could do. He also explained that no one really knows what causes back pain so they basically just try things till it works. Wonder how he sleeps at night. Rip off

He appeared insulted when I asked questions and asked about different treatment options. I got the impression he thinks people that don't have M.D. behind their names are stupid. I won't go back.

He might have been great in 2010 but in 2014 things have obviously changed. He discounted everything my husband and I both said. He went so far as to tell us that my doctors were 'wrong.' If you want a Dr. that sticks to the script, does not listen to you or address your concerns, then this is the Dr. for you. I was just cattle in a shoot. I have been through chronic pain for 27 years and have anxiously awaited seeing a specialist and he was it. It was a major disappointment. I should have just sat there and not spoken. He had his script to stick to. Nothing I said mattered. I will never go back unless he suddenly discovered a bedside manner.

Dr. Pena is one fantastic doctor.The rest of the guys should WATCH OUT! This man has some great skills.NAMELY:(1) Excellent bedside manner(2) Listens without drawing conclusions (3) Waits until the patient has finished speaking(4) Responds respectfully and courteouslyIf you are looking for a physiatrist with those qualities, look no further, pick-up the phone and make an appointment. You won't be disappointed. And New England Baptist is a top notch facility as well.
