Dr Smith is all an excellent family practice Dr. should be. Extremely medically competent, empathetic and great communication both listening to all you have to say and making what she says clear and comprehensive. I use the portal to send her msgs and usually hear back in just a couple hours. Sent msg once at 7 pm. Couldnt believe next day had response by 6:00 am. She's worked w me and has gotten my arthritis pain under better control than it's ever been w less medication. She supports specialty care when you want that second opinion and when she thinks ur diagnosis would b better managed by a specialist. Does not have one method works for all mentality. I have some unusual health issues and she always manages my care in a way that works for me vs the more typical patient/presentation. Lots of focus on wellness/preventative care as well as keeping track of ur stress and mental health in your life in general. Im 62, my 28 yr old dgtr started w her and was very happy as well. Staff is wonderful, though they had been working with some positions unfilled which caused some minor issues at that time. I know they have hired staff since then those issues have all resolved. With my many illnesses and complicated health, had always felt I needed an internist. Turns out that wasn't true. Dr Smith's wholistic approach is what Id been needing for years. PS...Ive been w Dr Smith about 3 yrs I think and followed her from Grand Ledge Office where she was before Okemos.

She’s absolutely phenomenal! Really good with kids and is very attentive to when you’re discussing medical issues. She listens to what you have to say.
