Dr. Else Uglum

Wow, I can’t believe that other review! I think Dr. Uglum is great. My child had a complete meltdown about getting her inoculations last year, and she handled it with great compassion and aplomb. Everything about all visits have been wonderful, and I’ve never had any problems booking appointments.

This has been the worse experience my daughter and I have ever had with a pediatrician. She is not good with children. My 9-year old pointed out how rude she was. Dr. Uglum lacks common social skills. She never follows up on patients and she does not care about her patient's health. Please, be aware of this Dr.

I am in my 20s now and haven't seen her in years, but I recall my visits as an adolescent. They are some of the worst experiences I have ever had at a doctor visit. When I think of them, I feel violated and angry. There were several experiences I had when I went for a physical (in order to participate in sports at school) where I felt she abused her power. She often would force me into 'breast exams' or have me bend over to 'check my scoliosis' and other personal things I feel sick just thinking about. I often would tell her I felt it was unnecessary (I've had physicals elsewhere where that was never procedure) but she NEVER listened, and being young and feeling like she had authority, she'd do it anyway and I'd sit there feeling violated. I never said anything during the time because I was young and wasn't sure if it was 'normal'. Now with age and experience (as well as friends and family in the medical field) I believe she pushed the boundaries and made me feel so uncomfortable about doctor visits. I'm not going to accuse her of anything or make this a big deal (because maybe she felt like she was 'helping'), but I feel like people should know. I would never bring my children to her or recommend her to anyone (I also have friends who went to her while underage and felt the same way, as well as my mother who took me for other checkups and such and even she regrets some of our visits because she felt like she had no control of the situation either). I just want others to know, and maybe consider this before going to her. I stopped getting physicals with her once I was old enough to know better and EVERY SINGLE other doctor I went to, never left me feeling so disgusted and weak. Obviously I do not recommend her.

Dr. Uglum was the pediatrician that came to the hospital when my son was born. Within the first ten minutes she noticed something wasn't right with the shape of his head. As I had had a csection that should not have been the case. She did the research on her own time that night and came back with what she thought it may be. We went straight in and had a cat scan done on my two day old baby. Sure enough, Dr. Uglum had caught the fact that he had Metopic Craniosynostosis. We were referred to an amazing pediatric neurologist for the surgery. She is always so welcoming when we come in and truly cares for our son. reading about the condition afterwards we saw that many dr's may just dismiss it as many other things until it is too late and the brain growth has been affected. We will always be grateful to her for catching it so quick and actually caring about him AND us as a family.

We were on vacation in Lake Tahoe when my 5 year old twin sons complained of ear aches. Being unfamiliar to the area, we turned to vitals.com for some guidance. We couldn't be happier with our appointment with Dr. Uglam. She listened to us and our sons and was very caring with handling them. She prescribed proper medicine which was electronically sent to the local CVS pharmacy where we had requested the script be filled. The office staff was terrific and friendly with welcoming us from out of town. We highly recommend Dr. Uglum and her office to visitors and residents alike.

Our experience with Dr. Uglum has been just the opposite from the previous reviewer - she was the one who finally diagnosed our daughter's life-threatening condition after 3 doctor visits with other doctors and 2 emergency room visits. We like her friendly manners and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for our appointment.
