I received counseling from Mrs. Shepardson from ages 15 to 17, after being removed from an abusive home. She spent much of our sessions discussing her own history, and she failed to notice that I'd become involved in a violent relationship, though in retrospect I believe the signs were obvious. She encouraged my guardian to allow me to move in with that person at age 17. When I attempted suicide shortly after, she (through her husband) canceled our sessions without explanation.
