Dr. Elizabeth Otero

I've now seen Dr. Otero and her staff, R.N. Colleen and front desk associate Vicki for a year. As a result of these shots, allergies no longer control my life. I'm free of the constant post-nasal drip, violent coughing, sleepless nights, and sneezing, and difficulty breathing. Their kindness and Dr. Otero's knowledge and professionalism are top notch.

Had a sinus infection and a negative covid test and Dr refused to see me until I went and paid for a PCR test. To make matters worse, they billed for the office visit. Office staff was awful and extremely judgmental. Not what you expect from a doctor's office. Much better alternatives in the area.

I will not recommend this place. I scheduled an appointment over a week ago for my son, which the provider was on my son’s insurance providers list. We showed up to my son’s appointment to be told that they do not accept my son’s insurance any longer. Wish they would have told me they didn’t take my son’s insurance when I made the appointment, which by the way the clerk who scheduled the appointment asked & took my son’s insurance information over the phone when making the appointment. Not sure why they waited until we arrived there to tell us he was not covered. A waste of time because I had to request time off of work which was not easy to do due to being short staffed. Hopefully they can train their clerks or whoever schedules appointments better, so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I will not recommend this place. Vicki is curt and impatient, interrupts frequently. Dr. Otero I saw once, she was distant, refused to treat my chronic cough, suggested allergy shots. I started those, last time I went in asked to see her, I'd developed a respiratory infection from mucus, needed antibiotic. I'm vaccinated, wearing N95 mask, had coughing fit while waiting, the RN rushed in & questioned me, the Otero refused to see me, denied me medical care, I was rushed out of office, told I couldn't come back until tested for COVID. Otero didn't even follow up. My PA did telehealth, diagnosed me, prescribed antibiotic, told me where and how to be tested. I tested negative. I'm finding a new Allergist ASAP. That was unacceptable behavior from a doctor, I will be reporting her to the State Medical Board.

I had an extraordinary meeting with Dr. Otero. She spent a lot of time with me and was very clear about what I needed to do and the tests that I would take. I found her to be willing to give me all the time I needed to understand how to go forward to deal with my allergies. I couldn’t have asked for more!

I've learned my lesson about reading reviews first. Based on these reviews, I'll pass. Thanks for taking the time to write.

Dr. Otero’s staff is terrible very unprofessional and rude. Only person worth seeing in that office is Dr. Otero; I like her very much. It seems to me everyone is stressed and unhappy. Cannot even set up appointment for allergy testing. God forbid you ask that you be called one day in advance to remind you of the appointment Which they won’t anyway... A few years ago her staff was actually nicer (I am talking about the Jupiter office as I don’t know if she has the same staff in her Port Saint Lucie office). She has a nurse practitioner that will not see you when your feeling sick... she refers you to the emergency room. I’ve seen it happen with other people that call in trying to get appointment too so I know her staff tells people that despite not being doctors). Had to go to my primary care doctor for relief instead. They love giving you appointments when your feeling well and there is nothing wrong with you but the moment you feel sick they tell you to go to the emergency room. My sinuses were so swollen my primary care doctor gave me prednisone after the nurse practitioner blew me off. Overall, Dr. Otero is very good... everyone else working there is not worth seeing... the staff needs to learn to be professional. 11.20.19 - I have been over charged in the past. Also in the past they have not given me credit for payments. Now they hired a woman (Janet) who called today from the Jupiter office and I told her about my payment not being credited. I’ve showed them three times the proof of payment. She then said she’s only been there 60 days and started to talk about the bill. I told her I cannot follow you cause m not seeing it. Email it and then we can talk. She continued talking over me and I kept telling her I was not following her explanation so she simply talked louder completely ignoring me. So I told her that if she insisted she could write an email with the explanation so that I could follow the bill because I wasn’t following her. I told her I thought she was rude for not letting the patient talk. She threatened me that Dr. Otero was not going to see me anymore. I wonder if Dr. Otero knows that I have been overcharged in the past and if she knows that twice they failed to give me credit and the. I get this kind of threat. Soon don’t even deserve an explanation while looking at the invoice? It’s insane. Specially when they have been wrong in the past. I’ve had to get my insurance involved because these people don’t even know how to do billing. They ended up giving me back over $100. I had one of the worst experiences with a pediatric doctor at this office. It was truly horrible. #1 I left work early to take my son to this office. They had no record of the appointment but agreed to see us after the receptionist was yelled at in front of us by a nurse. #2 We waited nearly one hour to see the doctor. #3 I was promised that because of our inconvenience, we wouldn't have to pay a copay. I was billed anyway! #4 the paperwork for my son's peanut allergy test was incorrectly done and I had to leave work AGAIN to get correct paperwork. As someone who deals with medical professionals on a regular basis, this was entirely unacceptable and unprofessional. My son will be seeing another allergist going forward. Office is clean, staff is friendly. However, I am looking for a new allergist /immunologist. I have spent too many HOURS waiting past my appointment time. My time is valuable too. Based on what I could hear through the walls (ummm HIPPA) I am/was not the only patient upset over the outrageous wait. Why do doctors think they can do this? They need to remember they work for US! I agree with the comment... her staff fails to order allergy shot medication. They are rude and/unprofessional. Her staff won’t take you seriously. They tell everyone to go to emergency room. Dr. Otero is the only good doctor working there but wished she had a better staff. A few years ago she used to have much better personnel. Had to go to primary care doctor to get relief. This morning I called to get an appointment and they weren’t very nice. Then I was told the will call me in ten minutes... that was one hours ago... I doubt they’ll call back. I’m saying this from past experience. I hope I don’t get scolded by her staff for calling again trying to set up an appointment. Pathetic!

2 visits for strange cough. Nothing really wrong. Was told allergies and continue inhaler. Became very sick with asthma attack 2 months later. She did not take my complaints about sinus as anything serious, and prescribed wrong. Had to insist on CT scan after 10 days, which resulted showing infection. 2 weeks of antibiotics cured, but should have happened 7-10 days sooner. Would not use this Dr. again.

Impossible for me to complete my allergy treatment with them. First, they only offer shots twice a week which with work and travel is not convenient. Second, they are terrible on the administration. I saw Dr Otero almost six weeks ago and they still have not gotten the new shots in. So between the 3 weeks it took me to get an appt with her post my heart attack and the 6 weeks, her office has basically wasted my entire time getting shots todate.
