Egon Mr Doppenberg

Dr Doppenberg did ACDF on two levels the 1st of Dec. No voice issues, throat only hurt for a few days following surgery. Hospital staff was great, I stayed over one night. I did not take pain meds after I left hospital. I’m 7 weeks post-op and I’m gradually able to do activities. A few aches here and there in shoulders and neck but overall I feel great! Good post op follow up. He’s a nice guy in addition to being a great surgeon. (68 years old)

Been seeing Dr. Doppenberg off and on for about 4 years now. He listens, and explains. The care I have been given is extra-ordinary. Highly professional. He did a fusion on my lower back, and it did help, unfortunately more work needed to be done. Will be having another surgery by him in the very near future. He is very very highly recommended.

Dr. Doppenberg spends a lot of time and is very compassionate.

Dr. Doppenberg has performed 2 back surgeries for me. The results have been successful and he has been professional & supportive. I would recommend him to anyone. His staff is also helpful and very responsive.

I’ve heard horror stories from others with similar surgeries who had different doctors. Dr Doppenberg truly cares about his patients. If I ever needed a compassionate and skilled neurosurgeon again in the future, I would do everything I could to come back to Illinois and see Dr Doppenberg. Dr. Doppenberg is a great neurologist. He is such a caring doctor and his team is also amazing. They made a stressful time for our family a good experience. All doctors should be like him.

Dr. Doppenberg performed surgery almost 1 yr ago on my lumbar spine. I can't say enough wonderful things about his care and compassion. God bless his parents for helping to make him the person he is. I never doubt that the suggestions and decisions he makes concerning my care are done with collaboration of his team and consideration of my best interests. His office staff, the PA's, nurses and all that put together his team are the best at what they do. I feel they follow the leader in the way they deal with the patients, their families and day to day care they provide. Always taking extra steps to ensure the information and care given are the best they can provide.

Today is the third anniversary of my second life . I am so fortunate to have Dr.Doppenberg as my surgeon and he gave me a chance to live. My wife still has her husband and my three children still have their father - only because of you. After months of friends saying "whatever you do, don't have back surgery" I am so happy to report that I did and all my pain is gone. It's been almost 2 years. Dr. Doppenberg is all that one would desire for a neurosurgeon--passionate and knowledgable about his work, kind, caring and supportive.

My son had a brain tumor 12 yrs ago and Dr. Dopprnberg saved his life. He unfortunately had another 6 months ago. My daughter searched for him and contacted him and he said get him here to Good Samaritan and he once again saved his life. He is the very best you will ever find. I'm awaiting my third surgery with Dr. Doppenberg and am greatly encouraged by his willingness to try a smaller surgery instead of the more drastic one first discussed. Dr Doppenbergs compassionate care with detailed attention to patients concerns and symptoms is exemplary and cannot be put in words, his kindness, calm manner, courteous greeting and professional demeanor puts all patients at ease immediately. He is very thorough in his patient care related issues. I recommend him to anyone needing expert neurosurgical care. I remain indebted to him for his wonderful expertise and care provided to me after my MVA.

I owe my son's life to the skills of this great surgeon and his team, during our time through hell, he was the leaning pillar that would sooth our pain, the best of the best in all senses, best surgeon, great human being, very easy to understand in his explanations and very humble. Can't say enough about him.

Dr. Doppenberg is not only the finest neurosurgeon I've ever gratefully come across (and I should know after 7 neurosurgeries) he's also the most humble, gracious, and kindest too. He is a WORLD renowned neuro that I consider my God. If he had been around in 1998, I am certain my surgeries at the very least would have been cut in half, although I do have a severe spinal disease. He is also conservative about cutting and will only do surgery if it is absolutely necessary. He really listens to his patients, and treats them with utter respect, which sadly a number of neuros do not. When we were doing a necessary baseline of MRIs, we discussed only the Sacrum, Lumbar, and Cervical where I'd already had surgery, but I then said that I really think I have another herniated disc in my Thoracic. He stated how much rarer Thoracic herniations are and I said I understand. He said he completely trusted me and knew I knew my body better than anyone else. Needless to say the electric shocks that were seemingly causing a fluttering of my heart were not caused by my heart at all, but a herniated disc in my Thoracic pinching the nerve in the cardio thoracic area. In other words, because he trusted me, intently listened, and was pro active, he gratefully found what other neuros would have most likely disregarded and overlooked especially due to the symptoms not being of the norm. Dr. Doppenberg did an outstanding job on both my cervical and thoracic surgeries and all my friends including those with spinal problems could not get over how fast I recovered from them and how fantastically successful they were. I even drove to Florida (I moved here to get away from the winter's cold) only 2 WEEKS out of the Thoracic fusion. How many people can say that? I am facing a new cervical fusion due to bone spurs. Dr. Doppenberg and I knew this day and others like it would one day occur again. Unfortunately there is no cure for my spinal disease, only treatment at other levels when the inevitable time comes. With him and his skilled hands, I am completely confident that any surgery he performs will always come off without a hitch and be unbelievably successful with an incredibly swift recovery time. My only sad part about this review, is that I cannot return to my God...this amazing human being and surgeon...to do my latest necessary upcoming surgery, because I can't cross state lines with my health insurance. I've recommended doc to everyone whose needed surgery and they are all forever grateful. We all love him. He's become a benevolent curing God to us all. I know there is no other neurosurgeon like him and I've seen quite a few in my my lifetime, but I just pray there's one here in Florida that is even half the surgeon he is....because then I'd still be in great hands...that is how brilliant Dr. Doppenberg is and how extraordinary his skills are! Dr. Doppenberg is one of those rare physicians that combines impeccable clinical skills with great compassion. He is modest and down to earth. He explains everything well. He really cares about his patients. Dr Doppenberg has performed three serious operations on me and I have done well with each. Many patients see Dr Doppenberg for second or third options because of his knowledge and excellent judgement. I am very lucky to have him as my physician.

I don't know if there are enough superlatives to describe my experience with Dr Doppenberg. Not only is he an extremely talented neurosurgeon, his mannerisms and personal touch make him the best in the business. He is very friendly and I never once felt rushed during any of my visits. He clearly explained my issue and showed me in detail on the MRI screen what was causing my pain. He was able to get me in for surgery remarkably quickly which was a huge relief as I was suffering. Dr.Doppenberg operated on my back, he was the epitome of professionalism. He was caring, compassionate and he explained the entire procedure to me and my family. I feel very fortunate to have him as my surgeon.

Outstanding reputation. Operation in Feb2016. Good Sam. Hospital in Downers Grove. Very professional staff. Very attentive nurses. No private rooms. Roommate dementi patient- no sleep possible. Scheduled 30 and 90 days follow up. Seen by knowledgeable PA's instructed to get new MRI. Sent to Dr. Now 5 months since surgery. No response from Dr office as to new MRI. Engaged new Dr. Very disappointed with lack of follow-up, as promised. Not disappointed with surgery as was advised of possibility

Extraordinary surgeon. Inspires confidence. Kind, compassionate and empathetic. I was fully recovered within a month of major surgery with no side-effects whatsoever.Discharged from the hospital within two days of surgery. My symptoms have been totally eliminated and I'm back to normal and feel even better than my pre-surgery days. Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Doppenberg and his staff. Excellent job by everyone on Dr. Doppenberg's staff.
