Don’t waste your time seeing him, he is awful! He eats while he sees patients, he’s rude, he really doesn’t care! He should Loose his license, he really doesn’t provide any advice, he doesn’t care if you get better or not, all he wants is the money! He’s banking in people not being able to find a real psychiatrist since there’s a shortage. Please trust me you will get more from buying self help books! He also is condescending and extremely rude!

Dr. Schacht worked with me to reduced the meds that prior Drs. had prescribed. I found him easy to work with. I saw Dr. Schacht for several years and would have continued but my insurance changed.

I have been seeing Dr. Schacht for about 7 years out of his Newtown office. Perhaps his other location is better organized, but this one is not professional, and he is very difficult to schedule. He is very rude and condescending and has antiquated views that I feel affect the way he treats me and my mental health. For example, he did not take my complaints of sexual dysfunction side effects seriously as a woman as he believes my "priorities are out of order." Of course I do not expect him to be able to give me a magic happy pill, but I would greatly appreciate some sensitivity and responses that are more than a blank stare. Would not recommend him and his terrible bedside manner.

Great doctor..... Very caring and sensitive. I feel completely at ease with him and would recommend to family and friends. In reading the reviews I feel that these people, who are less than satisfied with the care of this physician, are looking for a "quick fix" or some magic pill to deal with their mental illness. Treating mental illness takes time and patience.

terrific. For seeing negative reviews, I can only speculate that people maybe expect unrealistic miracle cures. Yeah, the staff could be more friendly, but I go there to see the doctor and I think he is a smart doc and gives my treatment the appropriate consideration. He's a nice man too.....maybe he doesn't suffer fools easily (how would i know).

No nonsense psychiatry, helpful, on point.

Rude, condescending, bad mouths other doctors, desperately needs ADD medication.

Awful staff - couldn't be bothered Doctor couldn't be bothered by being expected to do his job, but did tell me I could always go elsewhere ! Wow:(
