DO NOT GO TO HIM. If I could give this review zero stars I would. I don't write reviews but this is truly appalling. This Doctor is terrible. In may of this year I got a sleep study done. I got diagnosed with a sleep disorder by Dr. Ortiz. He was extremely slow at explaining things to me and he forgot about getting the lifechanging medication to me in a timely fashion. Nevertheless eventually I got put on the medication and it has started to change my life for the good HOWEVER this medication is very hefty and needs to have a lot of monitoring by doctors and when I tried to make a follow up, I was informed by THE PHARMACY NOT EVEN THE DOCTOR that he had left the practice to pursue a private practice in Georgetown and that my perscription was only good for the refill unless he lost his license. He did not notify any of his patients that he was leaving and left them and me bereft without any ability to understand why or be able to know what doctor to go to next. I was suspicious about what the nurse at the pharmacy said regarding the license cancellation and LOOKED UP his license on the Texas Medical Review Board and found out that he is under review for MANIPULATING SLEEP STUDY REPORTS. Dont believe me? Here is what it said word for word: ON JUNE 12, 2020, THE BOARD AND EDWARD HURTADO ORTIZ, M.D., ENTERED INTO AN AGREED ORDER REQUIRING HIM TO WITHIN 30 DAYS UNDERGO AN INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EVALUATION BY A BOARD CERTIFIED PSYCHIATRIST APPROVED BY THE BOARD AND FOLLOW ALL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CARE AND TREATMENT; LIMIT HIS PRACTICE TO A GROUP OR AN INSTITUTIONAL SETTING APPROVED IN ADVANCE; HAVE HIS PRACTICE MONITORED BY ANOTHER PHYSICIAN; WITHIN ONE YEAR AND THREE ATTEMPTS PASS THE MEDICAL JURISPRUDENCE EXAM; AND WITHIN ONE YEAR COMPLETE AT LEAST EIGHT HOURS OF CME IN ETHICS. THE BOARD FOUND DR. ORTIZ IMPROPERLY MANIPULATED SOME SLEEP STUDY REPORTS. I like Doctor Ortiz. He takes the time to explain and answer my questions. He asked me questions that I hadn't thought about. He really seems to know and have expertise in all areas of sleep medicine. I have confidence in him. I don't like some administrative issues regarding preauthorization fees and medication requirements, but I am aware of doctors who have had legal problems from sloppy drug paperwork and it costs money to conform with all insurance company requirements. I accept fees, etc.

This place seems to be interested only in taking your money. They will mislead you regarding insurance benefits and then tell you it's your problem for not understanding your coverage *exactly.* And, of course, you will still be responsible for the bill or they'll turn you over to collections. Last, they will push new, unnecessary supplies on you rather than helping to figure out why your machine isn't working for you and resolve the issue. The staff is extremely unprofessional.
