Dr. Edward Ming-Luan Gong

Dr. Gong is a great doctor- his approach with my son about his care was thoughtful, informative and kind. He had a great, empathetic way of sharing information and listening. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

My 9 year older had orchiopexy surgery with Dr. Gong in early 2021. Dr. Gong’s bedside manner is second to none - he was able to explain a scary situation and calm our son down, he took lots of time discussing the procedure, we never felt rushed, and were confident of his capabilities. Procedure went extremely well, he spent all the time we needed in our post procedure follow up visit. He has young children himself and knows how to deal with their fears and anxiety. I highly, unreservedly recommend Dr. Gong. We saw him @ Lurie outpatient on Touhy ave for consultation, COVID testing and follow-up visits. He’s awesome ! The opposite of patient-centered care. Requires families to wait 4-5 months for an ultrasound result because he won't give results over the phone and requires an office visit (and has a backlog 4+ months long). Completely appalling.

Dr. Gong is not only a great Doctor, but he is wonderful human being. He cares about his patients and treats them like their own family. Thank you for helping my child.

I am absolutely appalled at our experience with Dr. Gong. My 1 year-old daughter had a few repeat UTIs and we were referred to him, and he recommended the VCUG test in the summer of 2018. This test involves repeated X-rays of the bladder -- a significant amount of radiation. At the time a pilot version of the test using an ultrasound instead of X-ray technology was nearing its conclusion (this is now the recommended way of doing the test) but Dr. Gong did not mention this option to us. Instead, our amazing primary care physician did and I had to call the hospital and his office to find a way to make the ultrasound version of the test happen. Post-test Dr. Gong refused to share results without an office appointment, so one month later we went into his office for him to spend 30 seconds giving us instructions to do a follow-up ultrasound one year later. One year later we got that ultrasound done and nobody called with results. Strange, right? I called his office and he refuses to give results over the phone and requires an office visit.... and he has no office visits available until the new year (3-4 months away). It's comical how horrible this experience has been. If he put patients first he wouldn't allow nearly half a year to go by before sharing results with families.
