Dr. Edward Hyun Chung

Treated my elderly mother very poorly. They made her wait in horrible pain for several weeks for an appt., struggle to get there very early in the morning for the appt., then when she got there, they refused to see her because of some billing mix-up with Medicare. When my mom got a Medicare rep on the phone to straighten it out so she could be seen by the doc, the office staff refused to get on her cell phone with the Medicare representative. One staff member asked doc to see my mom and resolve Medicare issues later and Dr. Chung said, "NO!!!" They sent her home without being seen and in tremendous pain. No compassion for a sick little old lady here. Dr. Chung only cares about the Benjamins $$$. If patient care and compassion is important to you, find another doc. Performed a surgery in January, patient rushed to the hospital several times after, and now I sit at his patient’s funeral. Make your own assumptions.

A friend told me how good Dr Chung is and how her husband had the best back Dr how he had surgery and no more back pain. She gave me Dr. Chun office number I called on 3/31/22 to ask if they take my insurance the girl told me “I will return your call later with the information. Ok not a problem. All day passed by and next day in the morning at 9am I called and a different girl answered the phone. I explain why was I calling and she told me it takes 24 hour to verified the insurance and there is only one person that does it. First mistake is the lack of communication by not telling me it takes 24 hours. The I called back in 4/6/22 because I never got a call back. Called explained myself the girl putted me on hold and 7 minutes and 33 seconds she came back to the phone asking “how can I help you? Again I have to explain myself and she said “ oh we have to verified the insurance I call you back . At this point I was already mad. I told no and explain myself again and she got some attitude and putted me on hold. I think she did it on purpose because left me on hold to tell me they don’t take my insurance. Really what kind of office is this that they don’t know what insurance they take. Is ridiculous. The dr must be good but the stuff is not good. They have attitude, they rude, don’t know how to provide information. I’m glad they don’t take my insurance because I really don’t like all that negativity. My surgery, upper spine (C7-C6) on September 5th was a complete success. From my first visit, the office staff was wonderful and that continued throughout my visits. They treaded me like family. GreatHe listens to everything I had to say and he explained the whole procedure to me and he let me make my own decision he didn’t push me into anything that’s a good doctor

I had my 1st epidural with doctor T and he was fantastic. So well mannered and gentle and didn't hurt me. Explained everything that was gonna happen and made it a very easy experience. Doctor Chung's office is the best place to be. Everyone is so kind

I highly recommend Dr Chung. He showed great compassion and tremendous skill before and during my surgery. He explained everything to me in terms that I could understand. After surgery, I never expected to feel so much better so quickly. Thank you very much Dr Chung, you're my hero!

This Dr is absolutely overrated. I should’ve read reviews prior to visit, which I usually do. I went for a visit due to PCP recommendation. It’s beyond disappointing to have been seen for literally 5 min by this Dr and said it’s nothing concerning. I had to ask what do you recommend for pain and it was one of the worse lower back pains I had in my entire life. I couldn’t move at one point. My PCP expressed very much of a concern after reviewing my MRI. They had to give me two steroid shots. Even today, I feel sciatic kind of pain and sometimes to my hip that is giving me many difficulties and yet I am fit woman at age 43. So I didn’t fit in his age category of patients? I will never go there again. He should be ashamed to charge $175 for a visit but didn’t say more than 3 words literally.

Dr. Chung came to the rescue! He is skilled, compassionate, confident and totally competent! I am still in the process of my post- surgery experience, but so far things have gone relatively smoothly. Dr Chung listens, is conservative in his approach (and is not a let's cut and make the most money kind of doctor), and very upbeat and uplifting to be around when you visit.

The only reason I give 2 stars is because Dr. Chung wasn't bad. Melissa from billing is a different story. She is absolutely horrible. Rude, poor customer service, defensive, and doesn't know how to talk to people. Dr. Chung, please train your staff better or hire new people. Your staff will turn away patients.

I can’t say enough. He took the least aggressive route and got my wife out of back pain that tortured her for 2 years. I had a pinched nerve and was in severe pain. They gave me a same day appointment on the second visit so he could see the MRI I got that morning. Steroids hadn’t helped so he said I needed a shot. Happened to have the guy that does the shots there and got him to take me right away. No more pain. He is very nice, compassionate and very honest as well as having a great front office. 6 start. Dr. Chung and the entire staff at The Spine Institute south Florida are amazing! The staff is so kind and extremely understanding. Dr. Chung and Dr. Seth both treated me for my neck injuries resulting from a car crash and were very helpful. Once more moderate treatments were exhausted I had ACDF surgery performed by Dr. Chung. I felt calm and extremely informed going into my surgery. Dr. Chung answered all of my questions, numerous times and made sure to let me know what to expect before and after surgery. Terry and the office staff had all the other details handled (such as a nurse for home care). I am extremely grateful to have found such a wonderful facility during a very chaotic time. I had a laminectomy performed by Dr. Chung on May 25 , which is 8 days ago. Before the surgery, I was plagued by stabbing pain every time I sat down and electrical sciatic pain every time I leaned over. For three months my life was a living nightmare with no relief in sight. My primary Dr. Rebello recommended Dr. Chung. The aftermath of the surgery was something you see in movies. The pain was gone. My suffering was over. His PA Seth Ullian alerted the doctor to my plight which started the beginning of getting my life back. Dr. Chung is a rock star. I will be forever in his debt. If there is a better spinal specialist than Dr. Chung I would be quite surprised. He performed a very difficult procedure on me which resulted in a life-changing event. He is a rock star and I owe him my my new life. I went from a 9 on the pain scale to almost zero. He is amazing.

After two years of progressive pain, injections, accupuncture, meds, suffering with Spinal Stenosis I met Dr. Edward Chung to review my MRI. His office staff was wonderful making an appointment for me and after a short wait I met with him and decided to proceed with surgery. Surgery was performed at Del Ray Hospital, a great caring facility, met with Dr. Chung and Seth and associates before surgery and they reviewed the procedure. When I woke up my leg pain was GONE! I had some pain at surgical site and two weeks later that has diminished, now I can walk , stand, and get my life back again. Thank you Dr. Chung and Seth!!!! After trying numerous months of alternative therapies and injections there comes a time when surgery is the most favorable choice to maintain quality of life. Dr. Chung was very helpful in weighing my options and was extremely professional while I made my decision. Now being Post -Opt; My pain in my neck and my symptoms in my arms no longer haunt every minute of my day. I know that recovery is different for everybody, but I have to attribute much of my speedy recovery to Dr. Chung. He is an extremely great surgeon and left me with a scar that I have to remind myself that the surgery took place. I also liked the fact that he used a drain to minimize swelling, which I’m not sure is too common, but proved to be very effective. I am still a little tight from wearing the neck brace but I think that will work itself out. I hope to leave future reviews with any additional positive progress. I have had years of debilitating lower back pain with pain and numbness down my right leg. I have tried every possible treatment to avoid major surgery. But it got so bad that I couldn’t live with the constant pain and depression I was dealing with. Dr. Chungs surgical experience and precision successfully did a spinal fusion at L4-L5 and repaired my nerves. Immediately after surgery I had full feeling with no pain or numbness in my right leg! I am now at 6 weeks post op and improving daily. Dr. Chung has given me back my life and a chance to enjoy my grandchildren. He and his entire staff are compassionate, kind, and went above and beyond to reassure me that I was in great hands. I would highly recommend anyone with neck or back issues to use him. Very bad, I had an operation on my lumbar spine in June, 2017. Dr. Chung told me it might take up to a year for the pain to go away. The pain never went away and all he could say was that he could operate again. not use him.

Dr Chung is one of the greatest doctor I met in my life. He’s always with excelente humor very welcome and very professional. Sometimes the only bad things is the waiting time. I came to Dr. Chung as a 2nd opinion. He was excellent and decided to do 2 less discs then my first ortho surgeon. He performed an ALIF. I was up and out of pain 3 days later. I walked with a walker or cane for about 1 1/2 months and he also discovered that I needed a hip replacement and recommended another surgeon. Five weeks later I did a total hip operation and i feel wonderful. After one year of trying ever homeopathic treatments and pain manage Dr. Chung & the hip dr. I am pain free.

I was T-boned in my vehicle last October. I'm 59 and have never been in this type of pain. Dr Chung or perhaps renamed Dr Obvious said well you're old and via con dios, actually it was "bah bye". So unless you are on some medicare program, avoid this man who clearly has zero interest in actually working. One of the most unkind people I’ve ever been to. He made an error during surgery and didn’t own up. His license should be taken away due to cruelty. The last time I had a appointment I saw Dr Chung and I started to cry as I was still was in a lot of pain. He ushered me into an exam room close the door behind him and went to see another patient. There I was - standing in the examination room crying and alone. Doctors aren’t supposed to treat patients like this. Especially when it was their error

Dr. Chung and his PA, Seth, treated my 88 year old mother with advanced osteoporosis for a fractured vertebrae. They recommended the kyphoplasty procedure to inject a cement into the area to stabilize her fracture. This was her fifth fracture in the spine and the first time being treated by Dr. Chung and a more immediate treatment being recommended. We couldn't be happier with the results and feel she is in great hands with Dr. Chung and Seth and their awesome staff.

After having a life altering auto accident, Dr. Chung was recommended by not only my attorney, but a close friend, and my PT. I saw him twice. I was in excruciating pain and he spent less than 2 minutes with me for each appointment. He was rude, and unconcerned with my well being. I had heard great things about him, but after dealing with him personally, I was deeply disappointed. I ended up going out of state to have a C5/C6 discectomy/fusion due to the lack of quality in healthcare.

After 17 years of spine doctors I finally found Dr. Chung and Seth, PA. Staff has excellent manners, education of my spine problems excellent. Procedures scheduled promptly and explained in detail. I highly recommend

Dr Chung saved my life! I had a free fragmanet impending a nerve and i could not walk. I had emergency surgery and walked out of the hospital same day.

I went to three surgeons for an opinion (UM hospital, Cleveland clinic and Dr Chung in Delray) I felt the most comfortable with Dr Chung. He was very professional, took his time with me and has incredible bedside manners. I ended up having surgery with Dr Chung and I'm so glad I chose him!
