He has a huge ego and it gets in his way. Bedside manner & listening -F-!
I had an appt with him today. I found him knowledgeable,caring and he answered any questions we had. He also confirmed a diagnosis and was very sure of what is it and what medicines to start me on.
I researched Dr. Bonilla while waiting two months to be seen at the Upstate Rheumatology practice in Homer. I saw that there was a negative comment about his beside manner and was a little apprehensive, but went with an open mind. I was referred to a rheumatologist when ongoing pains could not be explained. I arrived and was checked in very promptly. Upon seeing Dr. Bonilla he allowed me to explain why I was there, did a quick check on my joints, stated I did not have any rheumatic condition and promptly walked out of the examination room without explaining anything or asking if I had any further questions, making it clear that my appointment was over. With the door open I saw him look at the receptionist and put his hands up as if I has wasted his time. I would never return to this practice.

Nice guy, good bedside manner, but told me not to throw away the keg of beer...that's not the kind of advice I was looking for. Also I now have damage revealed on x-rays that could've been stopped by help from him, had he thought to send me for x-rays. Another doc who would be "maybe ok" for late stage RA but otherwise don't bother him.
Dr. Bonilla-Trejos is a kind and caring doctor. He is very knowledgeable and communicates that knowledge in layman's terms. He listens to your concerns and questions with an open mind. The support staff is excellent and make you feel at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Bonilla-Trejos for anyone with a current diagnosis and anyone in search of a diagnosis. Excellent!

Dr.Bonilla is very intelligent and knows exactly what he is doing. He has great bedside manner and is empathetic. I would highly recommend him.
