Initial appointment Dr Shields was nice and seemed knowledgeable. Office is clean. I would not do skin allergy testing for a child there again it was the worst experience we have had. The pokes were done one at a time verses in sets therefore it was long and painful while I held my children down. I have never seen it done this way on children and by far it is not the best way unfortunately. Nurse doing the pokes was not very good with the children and was not quick. Oldest tested positive for allergies and youngest showed nothing on the test as can happen when they are younger. Doctor would not advise a Claritin otc dosage as empirical treatment even though youngest has all the same symptoms as oldest who tested as allergic to everything. Itching eyes, nose, scratchy throat. Very unhelpful in general except for getting the results of oldest skin test.

Staff was extremely helpful and nice. Dr. Shields was excellent, very helpful and took his time explaining and making sure all my questions were answered. One of the best doctor visits I’ve had.

I have seen Dr. Shields for years regarding my allergies and asthma . He has a warm and empathic bedside manner . He always listens to my concerns and treats me with the utmost respect .

Hé was wonderful, explained everything in detail, and told me further steps I need to take.

Dr. Shields didn't seem the least bit interested in my concerns. Dr. Shields & his nurse were complete opposite. They went as far as talking about me rudely in the hallway before seeing me in the room. I have suffered from environmental and food allergies & asthma for 37 years. My concerns were that I may have developed new ones. He informs me I don't have allergies & that he won't test me for anything. I will NOT recommend him to anyone!!

Not only did he not listen to anything that I said to him but he walked in the exam room with his mind made up that he couldn't help. He was demeaning and arrogant. Heaven forbid he listen to his patients since they live in their own bodies.
