Dr Earl McFadden is a very knowledgeable, experienced doctor. If I had not moved out of state in 2021, I would have had him operate on my shoulder. I may go back just to have him operate!

Dr Mccfadden not sure I am a candidate for reverse shoulder surgery. Said he wanted to do regular surgery? Have been seen for 3 yrs and shoulder is getting worse. Might be time for second opinion. Steriod shots have helped me cope the past 3 yrs. Know too many shots can dissolve bone.

Cussed at me and told me I'm "being a patient" when I listed my symptoms. He wanted to do genetic testing for EDS because it can cause lots of problems, but when I listed all the problems I had he said I was the problem. Apparently I just need to diet and exercise. I tried to explain to him why I needed a wheelchair and he yelled at me. He also said that I'd never get married if I walked with a cane. The only thing he actually seemed concerned about was me passing EDS onto my future children (I'm 22). I left crying. His notes in MyChart will now affect future care from other doctors in the same hospital system so I feel trapped. Do not go to him!

I went to see Dr. Earl Mcfadden on 4-08-2021, and after waiting 2 hours past my appointment time I finally got to see the doctor. I was there because my MRI showed I had a severely torn rotator cuff and as he was explaining this to me and how severe the surgery was I began to cry because this was so overwhelming to me. I told him that I had a lot on me after loosing my husband over a year and a half ago and he always attended all my doctor appointments with me this was just a lot for me to take in. And he said and I quote "Are you kidding me you are still crying over loosing someone over a year and a half ago you need psychiatric help no one is still crying after a year and a half you are depressed and you don't know it you need help!!! I said well my kids and I are all having a hard time with my husbands death it was unexpected and we were married for 40 years and he was also my Pastor and was very involved with our kids. Then he said well all of you need help this is just not normal you all need psychiatric help.He was so rude the way he said this to me, and keep telling me I had problems and needed to see a psychiatrist! I was so mad I did not come to him for a psychiatric evaluation but for my pain in my right arm and shoulder, but I left there asking myself who is this man that he can talk to his patients in such a manner. It is no business of his how long a person grieves over the loss of their loved one. I post this because I don't want anyone else to go thru what I experienced with this man so unprofessional! I called the office manager three times the next morning and left a message but haven't heard back from them.ugh I went to see Dr. Earl Mcfadden on 4-08-2021, and after waiting 2 hours past my appointment time I finally got to see the doctor. Wow! All I can say is I went to see dr McFadden for the 2nd time for my shoulder pain and waited close to an hour and a half to only be told I am not a surgical Candidate- I am unhealthy looking- dirty- how much do I drink? What drugs am I taking? And look at my skin - hello I am on plavix and aspirin! Tells my my shoulder is dead and I said show me what you are talking about - and he said I don’t have the time to teach you orthopedics- again hello I am a nurse for 44 yrs- I told him he didn’t have to teach me just show me what he is talking about! I told him you don’t have time but I had to wait to see you!! Never again will I go there and or recommend him! Talk about bedside manner? Would you want to be insulted by your doctor? And pay for it? I do t think so- I will not go there nor should you. I am not an alcoholic or drug addict! And the nerve of him to insult me as he did! Wow! While Dr. Mcfadden may be an adaquate surgeon, his manner and disposition is definately less than desirable. He treats the patients as if they are present for his convienence with little consideration for there needs. I was scheduled for a Carpel Tunnel Release at 6:15 am. At 7:50 when I informed them that my ride reqired that I should be done by 9:30 (over three hours allotted for a 5 minute procedure with no nerve block) I was informed that the delay was the patient ahead of me was canceled. Furture, Dr. Mcfadden was indignant that I would question why he was keeping me waiting and canceled my procedure. I was clearely lied to and treated with very little concideration. Worst visit I ever had. Dr McFadden was disrespectful- telling me I am dirty- kept asking me how much alcohol do I drink- told me he doesn’t have time to teach me orthopedics. I asked him about my shoulder and I never was treated so disrespectful and nasty from any doctor before and I am a nurse 45 yrs and worked with the most prominent surgeons there are! He had no bedside manor and I lost all trust if any in him. I won’t recommend him to my friends or family he doesn’t even deserve 1 star but you have to put a star or else you can’t write here

Dr. Mcfadden is an acceptable surgeon but that is definately where the plus column ends. His manners and lack of concern for the patients needs are well documented. I will not go into long detail but just say that if you want to be treated like a person and not a slab of meat to be cut on, find someone else.

Right Elbow Tendentious: I had a horrible experience with this Dr. McFadden. The nursing staff at the facility is fantastic!! It was just this doctor. I was scheduled for surgery and was uncomfortable with some of the practices of the PA due to my lack of knowledge on the situation. All I know is that after the cortisone shots were administered my situation became worse. I did not want to be cut open until I found out why my situation had become worse after the shots. I was also concerned that when I spoke with Dr. McFadden for the first time about my elbow, he was unaware that I had an MRI done and was already discussing surgery. When he opened my MRI, at my request, he told me that he could see the problem, but it wasn’t the worst he’d seen. Still surgery was the next step. The surgery was schedule for 2 days later. I had to cancel my first surgery appointment because I had to pay 20% upfront (that was told to me by the nursing staff) and it being the end of the month, I didn't have the money until the 1st of the following month. Also, 2 days was too quick of a turn around to have my wife take off of work to drive me to the facilities and home. On the day of the rescheduled surgery I fasted the night before, had the requested clothing on, and had my wife take vacation from work to drive me to surgery and remain with me for 2 days afterward as requested. I was fully ready to have the procedure done. Since I was the first surgery of the day, Dr. McFadden was not in yet and I had to wait for him to come in to speak with him. He came into the facility and was irate that I was not already prepped for surgery. The conversation did not go well and when I expressed my concerns of my diagnose and the medical practices of his team, I was meet with hostility and anger. I am the patient and have every right to feel comfortable before someone cuts my body open. However, when I told Dr. McFadden that I was feeling uncomfortable with the procedure until I have better answers on why my situation became worse after the shots, he told me I put him behind schedule and that I am wasting his time. He expressed his frustration that I didn’t want to proceed that day with the surgery by stating “You’ve cancelled on me twice now” again the first cancellation was because I didn’t have the money to pay upfront or enough time for my wife to take off of work. He then told me my elbow got worse because it just got worse and then said, “just don't do anything then”. I asked why he didn't know I had an MRI done and he said, "I don't need and MRI to know you need this surgery" So why take the MRI??? I asked myself afterward…. He told me to reschedule for another day. When I was walking up to the desk to reschedule, he stopped me and said "you know what? Don't reschedule! Just find yourself another Doctor! To which I replied "OK" and peacefully walked out. I don’t know this to be a fact, but this entire event made me feel as if Dr. McFadden and the entire USC-Ortho Center didn’t care one bit about my health, but simply wanted to cash in on a seemingly unnecessary MRI and surgery. Also, they had no empathy for patients that may be feeling uncomfortable with surgery. I had legitimate questions but what if I were a someone who had never had surgery before and was terrified about being cut open?!?!? Would they be treated the same way?!?!? Every patient has the right to ask question and be comfortable with surgery. They don't have to blindly take the word of a doctor because they went to medical school. I have too many people that I know tell me that after surgery they were worse off because they just went with what the doctor said. I was in the Army for 6 years and know a thing or two about botched surgeries. This is completely unacceptable, and I will not rest until this man is properly reprimanded for these actions. No one should ever feel bullied into having surgery or chastised for questioning a doctor’s diagnosis. EVER!!!! Right Elbow Tendentious: I had a horrible experience with this Dr. McFadden. Horrible disposition. I went to consult him about my carpel tunnel which required surgery. He would not listen to me, cut me off mid sentence and told me he could do the surgery on a Tuesday and I could go back to work the following Friday (72 hours of recovery time?). At the time I was working at Richland 3rd shift weekends as a CT tech. For those of you unaware, that is a level one trauma center so you can imagine what goes through the dept. I was not looking for him to get me out of work, I was scheduling my own earned vacation time. He gives a strong impression he thinks you are there just to get out of going to work. Needless to say, I saw another in the same practice. This Dr said no, do not lift anything bigger than a coffee mug for 2 weeks following surgery. If I tried to go back to work I would rip the stitches out. So since then (and yes the other Dr did my surgery) I have moved and been treated for another hand ailment by another Dr in another state ( I still work as a CT tech). She also agreed with carpel tunnel surgery to take 2 weeks for recovery given my job. I’m sure someone who does not pull patients or maybe have to perform CPR in their line of work may not need 2 weeks off. Since she has done 2 hand transplants I would think she knows what she talking about (Dr Linda Cendales, google her). McFadden did not do my surgery so I cannot testify first hand his abilities, but given 2 other credible Dr’s disagree with the aftercare I would seriously question them. Horrible disposition. Dr. McFadden did a shoulder replacement for my mother at the end of Oct. 2019. Not only were we completely pleased with the surgery, itself, but we were very happy with his approach to recovery also. Dr. McFadden was straightforward but personable, professional but friendly, and he explained both the technical aspects to us along with the practical information that helped us prepare for all that the surgery would entail and require of us in our lives. We couldn't have been more pleased and will miss seeing him now that the follow-up appointments are finished! Dr. McFadden did a shoulder replacement for my mother at the end of Oct. 2019. At the request of my mother, I went to her Dr. appointment with her. She has mentioned that this dr. Forces her arm in position it cannot go after having shoulder surgery. I physically watched him do that today. He forced my 65+ year old mother arm behind her back. This dr. Needs to be stripped of his license to practice medicine because he doesn’t care about his patient......well at least not this patient. I mean it. I will do everything to make sure the hospital knows.

Dr. McFadden is an excellent surgeon who explains clearly what your procedure involves and what results you can expect! He takes his time with his patients and gives them excellent post operative care. He cares about his patients and answers any questions you have in a way that enables you to have a clear understanding of what to expect. I had rotator cuff surgery to repair a work related injury.
