Dr. Gels treated my son almost 15 years ago. Everything Dr Gels said to do worked and my son was able to manage his allergies and asthma. The allergies he eventually outgrew just as Dr Gels said he would. Fast forward more than a decade, I had been having some issues with a skin allergen so my immediate thought was to find Dr Gels. Just as with my son Dr Gels took time to really try to figure out what was causing my skin reaction. He didn’t just assume it was any one thing and he exhausted all possibilities. I highly recommend Dr Gels to anyone in need of an allergy doctor. He is the best I have come across.

Dr Gels was extremely knowledgeable and was able to diagnose me quickly & explain everything without making me feel like I was asking too much. I would recommend this practice to anybody suffering from allergies or asthma.

Dr. Gels has been managing my daughters asthma and allergies for 22 years. I truly do not know what she would have done with out him. His accurate diagnosing and treatment plans have essentially cured her of many of her triggers and symptoms. Of course , a virus will cause problems for anyone with these chronic conditions. Dr. Gels is incredibly intelligent, kind and compassionate. He makes himself available to his patients like I have never seen. I am a nurse of 40 years and trust me , that says something! His team of front desk persons and nurses are also amazing and committed to the highest level of care. We are truly grateful for Dr. Gels and his team. We highly recommend this practice! Best allergist around, takes all the time needed to explain and answer any questions we may have!!

My most recent (and final) experience with them left me with the opinion that this practice is very unprofessional, and even unethical. I've since decided to discontinue treatment there and search for another allergist.

Dr. Gels is excellent! I highly recommend him. He took his time to listen and understand all my symptoms. He was very thorough. He is very friendly and kind. He prescribed the right medicine for me. Thanks Dr. Gels for all your help!

Have been referring my patients to him for allergy/immunology evaluations for several years. Extremely thorough, I learn something new every time I read one of the consultation notes he sends me. The only complaint I can offer is that I wish he could be in Centreville more often!

Dr. Gels is an incredible doctor. He was very knowledgeable and has a great professional demeanor. I felt comfortable throughout all of my treatment and interactions with him and his staff. I would highly recommend him and his practice if you want to be treated well and get results you can trust. 10/10

Dr. Gels is a good doctor, but if you go to this office prepare for some major communication issues regardless of how simple the visit is.

I saw Dr Gels in Centreville. It was an excellent visit, he listened to my concerns, took time to go over information about Alpha Gal Syndrome and initiated the blood test for beef, pork and lamb allergen that is a lesser known illness from Lone Star tick bites, partly because of the delayed reaction. When I explained financial concern and my compliance with a strict diet for wellness, he generously provided a medical device for an emergency. Dr. Gels is a truly amazing doctor. He took the time to listen and to research my symptoms while in the office. My allergy tests were negative for "Type A" allergies -- those requiring an epi-pen. But for 40 years have suffered with intense abdominal pain. He diagnosed me with cyclical vomiting syndrome, aka "acute migraine of the gut." Finally a diagnosis and a way to treat this. I had trouble breathing about 9 months prior to my visit with Dr. Gels and after many local tests on the Eastern Shore, I still didn't get other answers to my breathing issue other than to lose weight first. During my first appointment with Dr. Gels and his staff in Centerville, they all were so caring right from the start. When he discovered that I wasn't having allergic reactions to anything but was did have a breathing issue, he quickly explained in full detail what he thought it could possibly be the problem and referred me to a Dr. in Annapolis that could help me quickly and knew more about the issue I was having deep down in my larynx. He was able to set an appointment for me right then and there with the other office, which turned into the doctor refereed to me discovering that I had what is commonly known as subglottic stenosis and I was scheduled an immediate procedure that happened at Anne Arundal Medical and I can now breath again! I owe him my life so thank you!

They deserve less than a 1 star rating. At my first visit I waited over an hour to be seen. When I came back for allergy testing my doctor wasn’t there and hadn’t left an order for prescription. Then, upon them making the serum I wasn’t told about the charge for making the serum only the co-pay. Then, the billing lady threatened to send my bill to collections even though they hadn’t got back to the insurance company. I waited on the phone while the insurance company tried to reach them and with no response. I have my mail forwarded to another address due to recently moving and the lady threatened me to give her the address or she was immediately sending my bill to collections. She kept cutting me off and talking over me, The whole office should be closed. It’s been the worst experience imaginable. They deserve less than a 1 star rating. I met with PA Uwe Reichmann for an initial consult and he was incredibly informative! Explained allergies vs irritants and laid out all treatment options for me to evaluate and choose. Probably best medical visit I've ever had as to breadth of information and laying out all options, answering questions etc. You can tell he is passionate about his work and is a skilled communicator! After leaving my previous allergist who did not ask me any questions and immediately determined my hives had no cause, I was thrilled to find Dr. Gels. He listened to my concerns even though he had somehow been triple booked, calmed my worries by explaining the science to me, and listened to what I had to say. In just one visit, he gave me an order for multiple blood tests - which my last allergist hadn't done even after three visits. It meant so much to me that Dr. Gels listened to my concerns and was willing to take more steps with me. We are still looking for the cause, but I have not yet been back to my second appointment. Hoping for a full resolution soon.

Very pleased with our visit to Dr. Gels. He took the time to go over past test results from another office, reviewed the plan we have in place and made suggestions on how to move forward. We go back in a few weeks for updated testing and I am hopeful our future experience(s) is / are just as wonderful as our first!

We have been seeing Dr Gels and Owe for over a year with no complaints until recently. They are typically very competent and have great bedside manners. However when I found out I was pregnant, I was told to come back immediately after the birth (which I did, straight from the hospital after a c-section-in tons of pain) to get my shot serum remade. Someone dropped the ball and didn’t make it or bill it until 3 months later into a new year. This left me with a $1200 bill and no way to finish the shots that I’m being billed for. After talking to the office staff ( who seemed to ignore the issue) at least 5 times, I finally made an appointment to talk to the dr and have still not heard anything back in weeks. This is not a respectable way to do business. They should be taking responsibility for their mess up. It’s a shame because until now they were my favorite practice. Update: I got a call from a very knowledgeable and helpful office manager who was gracious and told me Dr Gells was upset about what happened and is going to fix the whole thing. Dr. Gels was wonderful treating my 6 year old son. Spent plenty of time listening to our history, explaining tests, creating a plan for us and making the visit worthwhile. He did not try to do unnecessary treatment, and really helped us any way he could. Very down to earth, intelligent and practical.

Dr. Gels is great at explaining everything to his patient, and really takes his time to make sure each and every question you have is answered. However, because he does take his time with each patient, he is usually running behind schedule so be prepared to wait.

This Doctor gets it. The staff was super amazing and Dr. Gels does not rush you and takes time to explain everything in detail. Which is essentially important when it comes to locating causes with allergies. He methodically goes thru everything and is adamant about contacting the office with any health changes. Already recommending him to all of my friends and colleagues. I did my research and glad that I found someone with his expertise and knowledge.

Clinicians are helpful and friendly but the logistics of an office visit are terribly SLOW. The patient list appears short, but it’s not a speedy visit. Minimal communication from the front desk, so don’t be shy about confirming that you’ve been checked in and are in the patient queue. You might get lost in the shuffle otherwise. Be prepared to wait, even for what should be a quick visit. We can only hope the wait is due to clinicians spending quality time with patients.

The staff is courteous and nice. Dr. Gels has opened two offices and is spread thin and always harried. In terms of billing and overall communication, there is consistent confusion on shot fees and insurance. The location of the building is also poor with the side doors convenient to the parking lot usually locked. I wish I could switch but I have been coming here for ten years. Just be ready for a lot of confusion and disarray.

A consummate professional and caregiver, attentive and responsive, with practical and pragmatic recommendations for treatment and wellness. A fine example of what we would like all our healthcare providers to represent.

A rare good doctor. He thoroughly explains your test results. He thoroughly explains why you had the test and thoroughly explains what the test actually does. He then thoughtfully explains what his treatment plan his and why he is doing it this way. When you leave the office, you will have a complete understanding of your diagnosis and treatment plan. He willingly answers your questions. Also, if he can save you money by talking to you over the phone rather than coming in for an appointment the he will do it. A rare good doctor. 100% pleased with my visit. Very polite and attentive office staff. Dr. Gels was not rushed, rather he took a lot of time to understand my issues and then explained to me why he thought they were happening and what my options were. He even commented on issues I was having outside of his specialty and how they related to the problem. My personal experience with Dr Gels and his staff has been nothing but excellent. Their Centreville office is closer to me, so that's where I go. I have had an addiction to nasal spray for 38 years and just recently, the spray has stopped working and I haven't been able to taste or smell ANYTHING for about 2 months. Dr Gels has made me a project and is determined to get me better. I've been to Dr Gels 3 times so far and as of today, 4-8-16, I can breathe, taste and smell no more nasal spray.

I was able to see Dr. Gels the day after I called and when I saw Dr. Gels, he spent the time needed to assess my situation and recommended a course that drastically improved my situation.
