Dr. Druhan Lowry Howell

I went to see Dr. Howell about chronic sinus infection, vertigo, and allergies. She was very condescending. She asked what medication I was taking, I told her Zyrtec and Flonase in the morning and Benedryl at night. After she left the room, her nurse came in with my paperwork and Dr. Howell's plan for treatment which was Zyrtec, Flonase, and Benedryl. OK, clown, if worked, I wouldn't be here!

Why does is takes 30 mins transferring about four to five times to make an appt? The ladies are rude they hang up on your face don’t let you say anything!

I asked her if she would run a test on my child since she was already pulling for labs and she told me no. I quote "No I don't pull labs or run tests on thing that I don't need, plus I wouldn't know what to do with other results anyways." Well another dr did and thank goodness cause my child will be changed because of the labs! We won't go back. Dr. Howell and her staff are completely unprofessional. My daughter has been seeing an allergist in Birmingham for six years and never had a problem. Once we moved to Mobile we have had multiple problems with doctors in this area due to my daughter’s special needs. I specifically requested that Dr. Howell add a test to the labs she was running since her GI previously ordered the test and she said no because it’s not an allergy it’s a GI problem to take it up with GI. When it’s actually an allergy-a food allergy at that. I also let her know that my daughter had a rash on the back of her knees for six months that we were treating with cream and it still wasn’t going away. She never looked at it. Then her nurse was rude when I made a complaint about how awful the lab team is. I would never take my child here if at all possible. Especially if you have a special needs child. They have no clue! It was a terrible experience! I don’t think we will be going back. I would rather drive to Birmingham than down the road to this office. Dr. Howell and her staff are completely unprofessional. Dr. Howell refused to listen to our concerns as parents and completely wrote us off. A year later we are still dealing with the same issues with my toddler. We tired to schedule an appt with a different doctor in the group and was blocked from seeing anyone else because of "office policy" and Dr. Howell refused to let us out from under her care ( we were told we are under her care for three years the moment we step into her office), even though she did nothing concerning my daughter's care and sent us out of her office with no assistance or "care" whatsoever. She a very good doctor very good with kids!!!

My wife and I both had the same appointment times due to our increase in age and somewhat different problems. Dr. Howell and her assistant surpassed anything that we could have imagined. She ask us many questions each and never interrupted our responses as some impatient physicians do. They ask you a question but they dont' really want to know the answer. My daughter, now 19, has been Dr. Howell's patient for many years after being diagnosed with IgA deficiency along with gastro, dermatologic, and various contact and environmental allergies since birth. My daughter absolutely loves Dr. Howell - and that is saying a LOT for someone who has hated most doctors. Dr. Howell talks WITH my daughter, empowering her as the most important part of my daughter's health. She takes whatever time is needed so that everything is understood and is not in a rush to move on to the next patient. Dr. Howell has great knowledge in her area of expertise, and we were beyond blessed to find her. My daughter is now pursuing a degree in pre-medicine, an interest that became a possibility after Dr. Howell told her she could become just like Dr. Howell. The entire staff was friendly and professional to include the front desk personnel, lab, asthma and allergy test clinicians and Dr. Howell's nurse. The moved quickly from one encounter to the next. Everyone did a great job explaining what I should expect. Dr. Howell was has a great personality. She was very friendly and welcoming. She did a great job answering all of my questions and detailing my medical condition and test results. I was very thankful and impressed.

She was very short and did the minimal. The nurses were very kind, but the doctor was not. Was not worth the drive and will not return.
