Dr. Douglas Skarada

I have had nothing but problems with my nose since the procedure done by Dr. Skarada. I have had pain and bleeding every day for a couple of years. I followed up with him several times and he kept telling me there was nothing wrong and everything looked good. After suffering with this I finally went to another ENT who found that I have a large hole in my septum, caused by the ballon procedure done by Dr. Skarada. As many times as I reported pain and bleeding to Dr. Skarada he never told me about the hole. This hole in my septum is causing lots of problems and I will have to treat it with medication for the rest of my life. I wish I had never undergone that procedure. I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Skarada.

I was referred to Dr Skarada from a customer that comes into my job, and he didn't disappoint!! She said he was wonderful and he is!!!! He and his staff!! Every time I've ever contacted them , they were pleasant, nice,always willing to help make arrangements to play around with the schedule a little bit because I don't always have the same days off. When you come in to the office very pleasant always greet you, just all around a great place. Dr Skarada himself is actually very knowledgeable, explains things in detail understands where you're coming from, listens to what you have to say and explain things and gives you an opportunity to ask any questions. I had my procedure done in early April still have a little bit of swelling but I just had my post-op check up and everything looks good. Highly recommend them ???????? The Modern Nose Clinic was amazing! Dr. Skarada and staff are really friendly and really seems like they wants to help. I love how the clinic makes everything really easy for the patient, the head CAT scan is done right in the office the sleep study testing equipment is sent right to your home, and they also offer Telehealth appointments. I am so lucky that my doctor recommended them.

They provide many options to ask questions in advance, provide detailed instructions, and made me very comfortable.

Had my procedure yesterday and all is going well! My caregiver is following instructions given by staff. I have great expectations of a fast healing. I don’t even remember the procedure and that was I mostly feared with awake sedation! I’d do it again if I needed to. Thanks Dr Skarada and Staff for taking such good care of me’n

I appreciate the time Dr Skarada takes to walk you thru your first visit, to diagnosis, and options for treatment. As well as the follow-up care and informative videos (of which I can watch at my leisure to increase my knowledge about my diagnosis or gain tips regarding my care. I’m also pleased with his approach to treating in the best possible way regardless of western pharmaceutical and insurance pressure to influence patient care. Highly recommend.

Another good experience. Dr Skarada has recommended lpratropium Bromide for my very leaky sinus situation and so far it is working well. So, thanks to you and your staff.

My septoplasty was a breeze, nothing like I had expected. I was awake, but very comfortable and they all treated me like royalty and with such care.

I am writing this for someone who wishes not to be identified. They went to Skarada because they had trouble breathing through their nose, especially at night. He explained the balloon procedure and said it would be the best option and that they would have significant improvement afterwards. So they had the procedure. Long story short: after an expensive procedure, not only did they not get the improvement that was promised, they lost much of their taste as well. So they ended up worse than when they started. Skarada then tried to sell this person other expensive options, including an oral appliance and yet another procedure, again with a balloon. This person declined both. They didn’t want to go through (and pay for) another procedure that still wouldn’t work. We are sharing this to warn people that Skarada and his procedures are expensive and not the cure all that he promises. We won’t say that there aren’t people who haven’t been helped. He listens and cares about us as people. Is really looking after the best for us. Dr. Skarada us extremely intelligent but relatable. He has extensive videos that he made at cost of his own family to better educate us. I wish ten years ago I could of had him take care of my sinus.

Dr Skarada is a caring bright doctor. His clinic is modernizing medicine to accommodate our hectic lives. My husband was able to book an appointment online, miles away for sleep apnea. The Modern Nose Team is efficient, friendly and paperwork was made simple. I was able to explain my symptoms without having to repeat them numerous times. Highly recommend an amazing team of doctors.

Anyone who has face pain or constantly running nose needs a ct of your sinuses. Dr. Skarada does them in the office. Turns out, tho I've been on antibiotics twice this year for sinus infection, I have three areas of active infection. My previous ENT never suggested a CT. Because of a narrowing, these infections never totally clear up. I'm scheduled for a rhinoplasty to widen that pathway so my sinuses can drain properly and hopefully stop the drip, drip, drip.

The purpose of my appointment was to review my one year of participation in sublingual immunotherapy (S.L.I.T.) drops. What a difference a year makes--and what a difference Dr. Skarada, Dr. Lee, and their staff have made in forever changing my relationship to allergies and sleep in a most positive way. If you identify as an allergy sufferer, and your sleep is negatively impacted by allergies, find your hope in Modern Nose Clinic. I did.

Dr. Skarada and the Modern Nose team are incredible! I've been to many doctors in my life, and Dr. Skarada entered my "hall of fame" instantly. His combination of knowledge, compassion, and the ability to think outside the box make him a truly special doctor. One of the worst doctors I have visited. My son has chronic breathing issues and we went to Dr. Skarada as our first specialist looking for answers. He dismissed us after about a minute in the exam room. He actually was walking out the door as I was trying to ask him basic questions. I have never left a an appointment feeling so ignored and dismissed. Update: We went to OHSU instead and they have been treating my son with amazing care. They have diagnosed treated and helped control asthma. They found a rare laryngeal cleft. And now they are working on allergy related issues. Dr. Skarada has been the only physicians of many that was terrible and didn’t help us. Waste of a co-pay, time, and hope. *EDIT* No this review was not for the Modern nose clinic specifically. We went to see Dr. Skarada at Willamette ENT in 2016 (yes, it's taken me a while to realize just how bad this encounter was). I have it in My Chart if you would like to argue further. For the record, my son had not been diagnosed with Asthma or a Laryngeal cleft at this point. As mentioned, you were our first specialist visit after years of not knowing what was wrong. Dr. Skarada spent minimal time with us, and I specifically remember him being halfway out the door when I was trying to ask a few questions. I left that visit so defeated and discouraged. I asked our PC Doctor for a different referral. We went to OHSU and they put him on steroids and diagnosed him with asthma in a single visit. They also acknowledged that my son was very sick. From there, after several more visits we discovered the cleft. The visit with Dr. Skarada has always bothered me because of how quickly we were dismissed. I have suffered with chronic sinus infections (>6 per yr) for more than a decade. I always feared going back under and having some massive sinus surgery. I had lost the ability to smell from one nostril and routinely used Sudafed to cope with symptoms year round. My wife drove by the office in Tualatin and saw the Modern Nose Clinic and suggested I talk to them. I went and am so glad I did. I was very symptomatic when I went in and a week later had a CT that showed all my sinuses were infected. We decided on balloon sinuplasty and it has changed my life! One day to recover and I can finally breath. The whole process was well explained and you’re guided at every step of the way. What has surprised me the most is that I didn’t know about this before! I could have changed my life years ago! If you’re suffering like I was, then I wouldn’t give it a second thought. Go see Dr. Skarada and see what options exist for you. Amazing!! I know that sounds crazy . but I have had sinus surgery before and it was bad!! This . no pain ! No pain medicine. My double vision and all over head pressure is not there ! The staff was so great at working in an appointment to see Dr. Skarada on extremely short notice. I so appreciate it, I would not normally even ask for something like that. I'm so glad I did. Top notch facility! The Doctors assistant Kristin was helpful beyond any I have experienced in the past, at other Doc Offices. Dr Skarada was not only knowledgable but explains every detail in a way you can understand. Although he can fully throw out the geek Doc speak if you like ;)

I have suffered with allergies for about 28 years and have taken pills daily since the start. Tired of popping pills everyday and feeing miserable, I decided enough was enough. I was tired of not sleeping well because of sinus headaches, sneezing, constantly blowing my nose and all the fatigue that has accompanied all of it. I saw Dr. Skarada and was allergy tested to get the specifics on what exactly I am allergic to. I suspected one offender but quickly found out I needed serious help. I am now on treatments and doing so much better. In addition I had a CT done in the office which was so convenient and saw with my own eyes that years of all these issues has left me with infection in my sinuses that antibiotics and other treatments have not resolved or even helped. I am going to have a balloon sinuplasty performed in the office while awake which I am beyond excited to have done to finally end my suffering. Dr. Skarada is the most amazing man! He took time to break everything down for me so I could truly understand what's been going on with me and his bedside manner is off the charts! Dr. Skarada and his staff are amazing! I can't thank Dr. Skarada enough for not only making me well after a year of not being able to smell and taste because of infected sinuses but also for being kind, thoughtful, caring and considerate. And he's humorous and funny too :) Dr. Skarada genuinely cared about me and listened to me and wanted to figure out the best and least invasive way to help me. Great experience -- resolved sinus problems that were giving me bronchial infections for almost 2 years. Very different experience than most doctor visits - you become a partner with clinic staff in resolving your medical issues. Dr Skarata uses state of the art equipment to quickly diagnose sinus problems. He uses the newest, effective procedures that reduce recovery times and discomfort. I have not been able to breath through my nose for years even after surgery. My allergist recommended to see an ENT because she did not know what to do with me anymore. I checked out Modern Nose Clinic and gave it a try, I was desperate! Dr. Skarada performed a balloon rhinoplasty which was not painful at all. Since then I can breath. I spoke with him yesterday about my allergies which have caused asthma, angioedima and all the other symptoms everyone else has. He Rx some nose drops, and today was the first morning in forever that I did not have to cough, whiz and had a runny nose in years. I highly, and I mean highly recommend Dr Skarada, he by far is the best ENT for your nose!

Simply impressed. His care model comes across immediately, I felt my health issues were honestly discussed, his goals for me are to help me get better, to finally get some relief. Truly refreshing to feel that a caregiver finally was more interested in providing care. As opposed to those in the past, who simply wanted & prescribed treatments that cost quite a bit of money, but without results. I'm very happy have found Dr. Skarada

I found this practice to be extremely efficient, friendly, thorough, and informative. Teaching seems to be a priority and I really appreciate that. I walked out knowing much more about my head structure than I did when I walked in. The exam was thorough, Dr. Skarada’s approach in treating issues begins with conservative treatments before ever jumping into more invasive measures. The practice climate is extremely positive and the providers treat each other and patients with respect. I would recommend this practice without hesitation.

Exploring interactions between allergies, sinus infections, and migraines. Dr. Skarada's knowledge is extensive, and his cautious approach is reassuring. He's not quick to cut, offers a number of other options.

I am medical provider myself, I had originally seen Dr S for snoring but given some additional risks he identified during our visit, a home sleep eval was recommended. I performed the home sleep study as advised by Dr S, and was shocked that I did in fact have apnea! What is important is that this would not have been found since I am very low risk and did not have the typical symptoms. Following a thorough explanation and discussion of the options we came up with a mutual plan that I have no doubt will optimize my health. Very please with all aspects of the care and am looking forward to getting better. Highly highly recommend.

Friendly staff and Dr. Skarada was so engaging and took the time to educate me on the various possibilities for treatment.

From what I can remember it was pleasant. I was very much affected by the pre-op pill that relaxed me so much I don't recall much about the visit. I dozed during the procedure and recall getting back in the car for my transport home. I discovered when I woke up this morning I hand forgotten to get undressed or brush my teeth before I passed out in bed. A few things are out of place at my house this morning. But all is good. Absolutely no bleed beyond the cotton swabs and bandage. Overall a comfortable, albeit forgotten procedure.
