Dr. Douglas Gladstone

Dr Gladstone is kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable- I HIGHLY recommend!

Dr. Gladstone is my CLL specialist and he is fantastic! If I have questions, he takes the time to listen to me and explains the answers until I understand. He is compassionate, honest and I would recommend him to any CLL patient!!!

I have not visited this doctor yet. My comments refer only to the events, thus far. My bottom line: I am not sure if folks I have interacted with at JHU thus far are lying to me. From the get go, I requested another doctor and, without explanation, I was stuck with Dr. Gladstone under the allegation that he is the only doctor that could see me (I have been diagnosed with CLL) at Hopkins. Do I believe this? No. Do I have time to investigate why? No. Can I recommend my experience thus far? No. Is Dr. Gladstone competent *and, importantly*, compatible with me? Who knows. Am I going to see him? I do not know. Wish I had realistic options as defined by me? Yes.

Dr. Gladstone is one of the best physicians I have encountered in my 77 years. His tender and compassionate care for my brother was outstanding, and his method of giving him the honest truth about death was appreciated by my brother and his family. All who work with this fine man are blessed to be taught by the best.

I find that he takes sufficient time to address my health issues. I am seeing him as a specialist in CLL, and he is vastly more knowledgeable than my previous general oncologic hematologist. I do find that the setting is rather "institutional" and my only hesitation for giving him 5 stars is a lock of follow-up. As a patient, I would appreciate a follow-up phone call from him or his staff. His nurse practitioner seems very competenet as well.

Dr. Gladstone is quite possibly the least compassionate person I have ever met. He treated me like human garbage and had absolutely no interest in my wellbeing except that I wasn't dead.

Dr. Gladstone is a freethinker. He doesn't just rely on past practices. He is always questioning and considering options, issues and partnering with other doctors to investigate issues beyond the baseline illness. He is very very busy, the hospital is very busy, he doesn't decide on his schedule so he's trying to keep on top of all patients. If you really need to talk through things, he will make the time, but JHU workload is high - out of his control. Trust him with your life.
