Donnie Culpepper

Very disappointing. I saw Dr. Culpepper at Baylor Scott & White LaPointe Rowlett He was the anesthesiologist for a back injection I had. He stopped by our cubicle prior to the procedure and introduced himself. I commented on his mask and he said "There is a very handsome man under this mask." I am an 81-year-old woman. I told Dr. Culpepper that positioning my arms above my head while laying on my stomach on the OR table was difficult for me because of pain it caused in both my shoulders. Dr. Culpepper said "We'll make you comfortable." In the OR when I was told to move to the table and turn on my stomach I did. I was given an oxygen cannula and a pillow and was told to bury my face in the pillow. I did but became slightly fearful and said "I can't breathe." Dr. Culpepper said "she'll be out in just a minute." But I continued to be fearful but someone in the OR (not Dr. Culpepper) told me to turn my face sideways and this calmed my panic and I cease struggling. When I woke up in the recovery room I had tears on my cheeks and my shoulders were very painful. I ask the nurse "Why are my shoulders hurting so badly when the injection was in my back?" She said "Usually that's caused by poor positioning."

Dr. Culpepper was the anesthesiologist at a recent sinus surgery. He did an excellent job and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Never knew I was under and never knew when I came out in the recovery room. Great at his work and as an old Navy type (I am retired Army) felt in excellent hands.
