Treated my husband for 5 months. It was a very difficult time for us made even more difficult by the lack of communication, outright lies, and lack of empathy from this doctor and his team. His office nurse is extremely abrasive and rude for no reason. Is sarcastic and rude when I explained that their sporadic scheduling and calling us the day before his appointments was causing chaos with my job as I'm the only one able to work at this point. Doctor Richards sarcastically told me that I should," get some friends or join a church, " when asked for just a couple days notice before appointments so I could let my job know. Because I guess he assumes that A) I'm not already a church member. B) All of us have rich fellow church members who can afford to make 3 hour trips and miss work. C) That people should join churches in order to use people for free rides. ..... ???? Completely unprofessional. Then Dr. Richards proceeds to tell my husband he no longer needs pain meds because his cancer was 99% gone. Actually demanded to know why he needed Norco.. a pain med HE prescribed. We never asked for a specific medication. Dr. Richards didn't even remember that was his decision or that his 30 day prescription had actually lasted much longer because my husband only used it when he was hurting. Which was not daily.. So we left without any pain meds and after being treated like garbage, because he felt my husband would no longer have anymore bouts of pain because as he stated the cancer was "99% gone". Which was a lie, as we discovered when he ended up in the ER in our hometown because he could barely walk less than two weeks later, a few days after his last treatment at Christus. I had to practically drag my husband to the car, his pain was so unbearable. When the imaging arrived he stated he could no longer treat my husband. That the cancer has spread.. The cancer he claimed 2 weeks prior, was "99% gone." I could go on. But this has been an absolute nightmare. Would never recommend this practice to anyone. This man should be reported to the state board. And his nurse needs to go work in an office away from patients. . Because she has no business near people. And this practice needs to hire more qualified schedulers. I'm a A nurse myself and have been in the medical field for 20 years. I've never in all my years experienced so much chaos or been treated so poorly by other medical "professionals ". Treated my husband for 5 months. I researched the Oncologist at Texas Oncology to find the best one for me, I did, Dr. Donald Richards. He has a perfect 5 stars and all great reviews because he is absolutely the best Oncologist I have seen. He has been my Dr for 4 years now and I will never change. His staff are just wonderful people also. Dr. Richard's will go beyond helping you. Best Oncologist I've had and I am celebrating 21 years in December from breast cancer. I drive 2 hours for my appointment I live in Trinity but would drive farther if I had to. God Bless you. Dr. Richards is very nice and easy to talk to. He’s like the best and I am so glad that he is my oncologist. I trust him and he’s just amazing.

One of the best, I have been with Dr. Richards since 2013 and other Dr.s . Dr. Richards has help me through it all. With GOD and him I have been CANCER free for the last 7 years. How great is that.

Kind, compassionate, understanding and always seems to be thinking about my case. Few problems during telemed appointments that Dr. Richards realized and readily offered in person office visits.

Dr. Richards is very nice and compassionate. He explained everything in a way that could be understood by someone with no medical knowledge. He went above and beyond to help me to ensure that I could get treatment started even though I have no health insurance. The unknown is a little less scary than it was before meeting with him.

I made the best decision in my cancer journey when I chose Dr. Richards as my physician. He did extensive research to decide the best treatment plan for my type of cancer and has been available by phone call or visits since day one. I would recommend him to anyone and appreciate finding someone so knowledgeable in Tyler.

I spoke directly with Dr. Richards once. He was unprepared for my specific case. He did not have a copy of the MRI. He promised a Petscan, but did not ever follow with email request or contact once I determined I would not take chemo.

He is gentle and caring. He listens to concerns and is very kind and knowledgeable.

He listens

Did what needed to be done. Reviewed and explained blood work, checked on previous melanoma surgery, asked about any problems. Had some concern about blood work, sent out for additional test, which came back as normal. I feel that I received a thorough exam and had all concern and questions taken care of.

Professional, very capable, caring, listens to concerns and answers questions in a manner that is understanding and reassuring.

6 month checkup

I have been in Dr. Donald Richards care since 2008,when I was diagnosed with MBC. To this day he has been very carring and compassionate with me. From day one in his office he will and does stay there and answer any questions I have and explain everything to me to where I can understand completely. Me my husband and family members that have met him are so grateful for all he has and continues to do to keep me as healthy as possible. So I would and have recommended him to anyone who is looking for a carring Oncologist that will do his very best to help them with there disease. Thank you doesn't seem enough to say to him for all he has done for me.

As always, whenever interacting with Dr. Richards, I feel my concerns are being taken seriously. I believe he is on point with my medical diagnoses and gives me updated and thorough medical care. Additionally, Dr. Richards explains my laboratory and test results I may have and asks for any questions.

Moved and had to find a new Oncologist, I researched all listed in Tyler area and chose Dr. Donald Richards. Great choice in doctors. Friendly helpful staff, and a Dr. I feel I can trust with my oncology visits. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in search of a good doctor.

Dr Richards is amazing oncologist. I've been seeing him for 8.5 years. I'm a stage 3 colon cancer survivor and reccomend Dr. Richards to anyone who needs a great, caring, very thorough oncologist. Thankful he's my Dr.
