Dr. Carney was our GP for 8 years. Usually we went to appointments together. I went to my last visit with him alone to review the results of a shoulder MRI. Nothing serious, but when I was leaving he commented "At your age, you need to learn to live with a few aches and pains. Your husband is much worse off than you are". I've cared for my husband for 50 years so I don't need to be reminded. We found another GP but now I am very hesitant to voice any complaints as maybe "I should be learning to live with it". If I could give no stars I would!

Dr Carney has been told from July to September that my mother can’t eat. The problem has hardly been addressed and is worse than before and she is 80 years old. Can’t find a whole lot of help or compassion from him and I’ve been to the past 4 appts. with her. She has lost so much weight and still no help from him. She is under the impression that because of her age he doesn’t care...I’m starting to believe the same thing!

If you’re looking for a new Dr this isn’t him every time my prescription has run out it takes days to weeks before he will refill his staff is extremely rude I called in today for an appointment the lady informed me I missed an appointment ok and they don’t do reminders sorry I can’t remember a appointment set a year ago with out a reminder so I’m definitely looking for a new Dr by the way he doesn’t earn a full star!! I've been seeing Dr. Carney for almost 20 years. He's always taken the time to listen to me ramble on and on about various issues. He is very kind and very knowledgeable. I suffer from a lot of anxiety surrounding medical issues and he always makes me feel at ease. His compassionate nature is unmatched. Athens is very lucky to have him. His nurses are not altogether reliable when it comes to getting back with patients on things, but other than that, no complaints.
