Dr. Kim performed a minimally invasive laminectomy at two levels L3-4 and L4-5 in my back on 8/16/19. I recovered quickly. The result has been nearly total pain reduction, and improved mobility and quality of life. Dr. Kim’s office team efficiently overcame obstacles (an unexpected issue in an ECG) and rescheduled the surgery. I was very impressed by the rigorous quality control measures at Swedish. I highly recommend both Dr. Kim and Swedish.

Super doctor with a view to all health systems. His specialty as a neurosurgeon takes priority, but he is a manager of overall health concerns. He made neck and back surgery as easy as possible. But, he also oversaw hip replacement by contacting an orthopedic and arranging surgery, a preliminary shot and X-rays. He explained and showed MRIs that were needed to show my particular problems. He is pleasant, conversational and focused on what he does. I highly recommend him.

Excellent &approachable,he came highly recommended, I concu. He first gave me copies of my MRI, explained them & the proposed surgery options in detail. He carefully reviewed the MRI images on his larger viewing system and called with results. He gave my PCP details of options, which helped me decide between him and an orthopedic surgeon. Office and MA are easy to reach and make appts. Leg and back pain gone, and I am optimistic. After a longer than expected recovery, I am regaining strength.

I was recommended to see Dr. Kim by another neurologist for a spinal fusion. Dr. Kim is very nice and comfortingly direct about the procedure. My surgery was quite successful. I have had absolutely no pain in my left side whereas I had continual chronic pain for several years prior to the surgery. My care at Swedish was excellent and my recovery was as expected. Pain for a few days and I was able to walk without pain quickly.

I am an active 78 year old and during 2018 Dr. Kim performed two complex surgeries on my cervical and lumbar spine. In both cases I am very pleased with the final results. Great results from Micro-discectomy L3/L4 on 8/24/2018. My left foot has dropped from nerve damage. It is returning to normal quickly & the pain that was present pre-op is gone. New sensations are present as the nerve revives. Dr Kim is great as is his staff. The Swedish Ortho Center is great well organized & keeping you from general hospital population. August 17th Dr. Kyle Kim performed a laminectomy in 3 areas of my lower back, and I am now walking free of pain!! The past 3 years I have addressed pain issues through PT, Yoga, Steroid injections and Accupuncture. My overall experience from pre op to post op visit was excellent. Dr. Kim gave me the confidence to go through micro discectomy with his kind and calm demeanor and expert explanation. My experience with Dr. Kim was excellent. I had terrible pain in my lower back/right leg due to a bulging disc and tried to avoid surgery for 7 months. Dr. Kim is honest with patients and makes sure that all other non-surgical options have been tried before surgery (physical therapy, steroid injection, medication etc). I underwent a C5-C6 and C6-C7 anterior cervical diskectomy and partial C6 corpectomy for cervical spondylitic myelopathy. I was very pleased with the care and surgical expertise of my surgeon, Dr. Kim. My symptoms have greatly improved and I would highly recommend Dr. Kim.

Dr. Kim basically rebuilt my spine in one anterior approach procedure [3.5 hours] and one posterior approach procedure [12 hours-with Dr. Falikov (orthopedic surgeon)]. Dr. Kim was recommended to me by a friend who had back surgery by him. I cotacted his office from Alaska; they were friendly and helpful in setting up a pre-surgery conference. That led to a phone coference with Dr. Kim who said he could operate in two weeks. Met with Dr. Kim in his office the day before the operation. Operation went fine. All pain was immediately relieved and remains so six weeks later. Dr. Kim is very professional and a personable human being. I am 90.

I asked Dr. Kim if he was me, would he have the cervical fusion surgery he was recommending? "Only if I could do the surgery on myself". Perfect answer. I signed up. I highly recommend Dr. Kim. He performed my spinal fusion, which included the replacement of four lumbar discs and the straightening and reinforcement of a spinal column that was beginning to collapse. First contact with Dr. Kim I was suffering low back pain that would radiate down the legs accompanied with constant numbness in the toes. I am very glad I was referred to Dr. Kim for treatment of cervical spine problems which caused severe pain. I accepted Dr. Kim’s recommendation to have cervical fusion surgery. I went to Dr. Kim for a second opinion. When he looked at the x-rays he knew right away what the problem was! The cage had slipped between the two desks. I was never going to get better. I didn't need additional surgery to any other vertebrae's ( L5 S1 fusion) they were all fine. It has been exactly one year ago Dr. Kim redid my L4 L5 laminectomy successfully. Dr. Kim performed a laminectomy for L4-L5 and the L5-S1 disc space and it was so successful that I was working 3 days after the procedure. Recovery was quick. Dr. Kim is very knowledgeable and responsive. Great energy and very caring!

Dr. Kim really helped me, I could hardly walk or do anything my pain was so bad. On my 1st visit he saw what was wrong and we scheduled my surgery, he met met before surgery and said he finally got my MRI and I had a 3rd problem to be fixed, and he did the three procedures. Having lost the use of my left hand, I went to Dr. Kim for a neurosurgery consultation. He read the results of my EMG/NCT and reviewed my MRI with me (vertebra by vertebra) explaining the abnormalities and surgical options, listening to my concerns, and answering my questions. I am a75 year old woman who had been fighting pain in both legs for almost 4 years due to pinched nerves between L4-L5. Three weeks ago I had back surgery, Dr. Kim did a fusion assisted Dr. Steege who did a decompression. I have had no leg pain since and am walking outside twice a day for a total of more than 60 minutes. Dr. Kim is easy to talk to and explains medical problems well.

For 6 months I suffered from a bad back. I used physical therapy for most of that time. Briefly, it worked but the pain came back. For two more months I did p.t. with no positive results. After years of increasing back pain, on my physiatrist's advice, I consulted several surgeons, all of whom recommended L4L5 fusion. I chose Dr. Kim because he listened carefully, always answered phone calls promptly, and explained his procedure clearly and thoughtfully. Also he operates at Swedish Orthopedic Institute, an excellent facility (with a robotic machine to guide the procedure). The operation went as planned, and within three months, I was back to walking normally. I am very grateful.

Correction: Surgery Feb 2017. The last 3 years I had suffered with severe neck pain. After seeing a neurosurgeon, an orthopedic surgeon, x-rays, MRI, 4 steroid injections, living with pain was becoming my only option. My primary physician researched and advised me to see Dr. Kim. In Feb. Dr. Kim operated: an anterior cervical fusion. On my x-ray in August, an old fusion done 8 years earlier had never fused; now new bone is forming. I'm now feeling much better and optimistic about the future.

Dr. Kim was recommended by a friend who had had back surgery performed by Dr. Kim in the previous year. My interaction with Dr. Kim met with the expectations set by my friend, and the personal communications exceeded the cordial bedside manners expected.
