Dr. Dhiren B. Patel

My experience with Dr. Patel has been the best experience I’ve ever had with any Psychiatrist gone too. He takes the time to talk and find out what’s going on with you and is not one to just offer medication unless he feels you need it. He is honest, and I couldn’t ask for anything more than that. He truly cares about his patients and he will go above and beyond to watch someone get back to thriving in their life. he is the only doctor I would trust with my mental issues. He is straight to the point he does not play cat and mouse games. he is the most knowledgeable Psychiatrist I have ever been to. I am grateful there are still honest Psychiatrist out there. He truly cares about people and that means a lot in this world today. He has a lot of integrity, and he cares about his patients. I would trust Dr. Patel with my mental health any day over a lot of these doctors. They just want to hand out medication to keep you coming back. He is sincerely professional. He is not a drug dealer. I thank God for him that he was there for me when I truly needed someone to help me with my mental health. I have had some experiences lately, because I moved away and was unable to see him, but being back in the area again, I will be making an appointment to see him because he truly understands the nature of mental health.

I have been seeing Dr. Patel for years (over ten). I would not be where I am today without him. Some of the other reviews are very harsh and do not represent my experience AT ALL! Dr. Patel and his staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and go the extra mile! Thank you Solace Counseling and Dr. Patel for helping give my life back!

Dr. Patel is different than any psychiatrist I have seen. He got to know me thoroughly, walked me through the hardest time of my life, and now we have annual followups that still offer me support and encouragement beyond my personal crisis. (I really cannot believe what medication and trauma therapy did for me!) He really listens to me and continues to offer great insight and direction. I think it's important that people understand that dealing with difficult personal issues requires not only good medical support but we, the patients, have our work cut out for us because we are ultimately the key to our healing. These are not simple things. So I feel very lucky Dr. Patel is willing to work in such a demanding, difficult field of mental health and well being. Thank God for Dr. Patel!

Spends <5 minutes with his patients. Does not understand basic precautions with SSRI medications. "Dr." Patel is a criminally negligent doctor. SOLACE is just a pill mill.

I love this doctor. I have been seeing him for years. I am bipolar and he has helped me maintain my life tremendously. I will not go see another psych doctor unless I have too!!!!

Dr. Patel is by far the best doctor and helped me tremendously. He actually cares about his patients and it shows in the way that he listens, has helpful advice, does not rush you out the door and most importantly knows what medications will be the most beneficial. I can’t say enough great things about this doctor and his practice.

I am a longtime patient of Dr. Patel and he is by far the best psychiatrist I have had. He is the only one who properly diagnosed me and gave me the right meds that helped tremendously. He is very professional and actually cares about his patients. I can’t say enough great things about him.

Dr Patel has not only helped me, most importantly he’s helping my daughter who suffers from SEVERE PTSD & ANXIETY after loosing her boyfriend in a car accident she was 21 years old at the time of the accident. Appointments (once you get the first one) are easy; the office staff is friendly and efficient; Dr. Patel is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and easy to talk to. He takes as much or little time as is needed. I never have to wait and, in fact, am seen as early as I get there if he is free.

Dr. Patel has helped me for the past 2 years and I am grateful for it, I was so sick and dependent on tramadol due to 3 neck surgery’s and I had no other place to go. I finally called my insurance company and told them what I was going through and recommended him. Just wanted to say thank so much in advance for all of The treatment I’ve been given. DA

Dr. Patel is one of the most compassionate doctors I have encountered, and I have seen various psychiatrists all over the country for 13 years. He is personable, insightful, and even injects humour to lighten otherwise serious issues. I have been seeing Dr. Patel for about 5 years and received TMS treatment at his facility. The TMS coordinator is also excellent and a pleasure to work with. Dr. Patel has been my Dr. since 2003,I ve stuggled w severe anxiety for over 25 yrs . Without Dr. Patel I d never gotten thru my sub. abuse yrs ago. So I owe him credit ,only thing is I need more help w anxiety attacks but him being sub. abuse psych. he s careful not to over medicate.

Dr. Patel is great. Very knowledgeable but doesn't talk down to you. My only complaint is that it's very hard to get through on the phone to make an appointment. You sometimes need to call multiple times a day to get through to an actual person. But everyone in the office is lovely. Very kind and never made me feel self conscious.

Seriously, first, Dr. Patel prescribed me a medication that put me unconscious in the ICU for 5 days. I spent 2 more days in the ICU and then 7 more days in the hospital. Then I required physical and occupational therapy for 3 months afterward. After telling him this and releasing the hospital records to him he blatantly denied that that was possible and then proceeded to attempt to prescribe the SAME medication. His staff cannot be considered rude - they are far worse than that. Don't go!!

Horrendous experience. Wonder why he has no patients. He will not see you unless he can swipe your insurance card????????? I called my insurance and they spoke to the gatekeeper who stated it is the Dr's policy. Huh??? Run a mile from this guy. The rudest office staff ever. They will be getting a call from TMB.

Dr. Patel is a great expert doctor. He is a friendly person & listens to you patiently. He cares about your health & well-being. He is also good with technology & sends your prescription to your Pharmacy electronically. It is easy to schedule an appointment with Dr. Patel. His office emails you a reminder few days before your appointment. His office accommodates urgent appointments. The wait time is very less and the office is spacious with ample parking.

I've been Dr Patel's patient for many visits at the Ellenville location since 2008 to the present time. Appointments are able to be scheduled quickly and emergencys handled immediately. He has always been easy to reach and will return phone calls promptly, whether at this office, or his main office.
