Derek Lynn West

My wife broke her leg so we went to Dr. Derek West however to this day, we have never met him. She had an initial visit, surgery and 3 follow ups and never met him. Surgery was planned at 11:15 and it was delayed 4 hours. The only explanation given was, "He is always behind schedule." During initial visit she was seen by a PA (who was great) but we asked to speak with the surgeon for a brief minute but he never came in the room. She is a diabetic so 11:15 surgery is problematic already but then to delay it for 4 hours is ridiculous. I left my bennie card in my car, and asked gal at check out if I could just go and get it and she said, no worries, we will bill you next time and after we left, we got a text saying her card was billed. Again, I honestly don't think it is too much to ask to say HI to the patient you will be billing thousands of dollar. The surgery went well as far as I know. She did open a little but I am a wound care nurse so I was able to dry it out and close it with daily care.

Waited for over an hour he didn't introduce him self just said we'll get an MRI. Went to check out I have to call and get mri results and to call and get a follow up appointment horrible care

I've known Derek West a long time. He's replaced many of my worn out parts. If U need an orthopedic surgeon he's your man. He does wonderful work. Got in & out with no long waiting. Southwest Orthopedics on 82nt & south walker in okc ok

My visit to the office was very productive and I was very happy that it wasn’t crowded Dr.West was quick and decisive and I received the information to the next step of my procedure. I would recommend him to others!

Upon arrival for my appointment, I was taken back quickly for an X-ray. I waited maybe 10 minutes to be seen after that. Dr. west physical examined my arm and ordered an MRI. He was courteous and thorough.

Dr. West is very professional, courteous and takes time to listen and explain injury, as well as recovery.

He was very busy but a great doctor. Don’t think he was very happy to see me when he has two PA’s that could have done my post op. I trust him with all my ortho problems though.

Dr West came in after 30 minutes of me waiting. With no updates from staff on how long I would be waiting, he didn't introduce himself he was curt, not very compassionate. He said we had to get an MRI before we could do anything else because of my insurance, Then walked out. When I went to check out his staff said I could call for the mri results. I had a shoulder surgery awhile back also had an MRI, after the staff called me with the results and set up an appointment for my next step. me having to call, when do I call? who gets the results when do I get the results what's up with that. Staff also not very helpful or friendly.

He takes time with you,so he can figure out the exact problem you’re having!

Staff was friendly and efficient. I was seen at my appointment time. Dr West was professional and willing to help me work toward my goals.

Dr West was recommended by my GP. I am 2weeks and 2 days out of having my total hip replacement. He and his office personnel are the best. I have had No out of ordinary issues. He did a top knotch job. No problems at all. It does help that I am a healthy 68yo woman. I would recommend Dr West to anyone having issues and needed an Orthopedic Dr. Thank you Dr West.

Everything about this appointment was very professional and timely from scheduling to check out. No waiting around after checking in and visit went smoothly. Very impressed with all the staff and with Dr West and his PA. Dr took time to explain what test results showed and what was needed to correct problems Thanks

I am very pleased with the care Dr . West has provided me .. I highly respect the fact he got right to the issue I was having with my shoulder.. (most treat symptoms) I’m on my way to healing better then ever! 5 star plus

I received everything I needed and everyone was especially nice and when I got to see the doctor to get my injection for my right knee I did not even know I got it. Thank you all very much.

I'm usually a bit apprehensive at initial appointments, but he made me feel comfortable with everything, what was going on, what's possibly going to happen and the initial diagnosis, at least now what may be wrong with my wrist and thumb will be taken care of.

Very nice doctor and staff. I got x-rays immediately and a thorough consultation. Started treatment the next day and my knees are feeling better.

Dr. West has performed both a knee and shoulder surgery for me. He listens and addresses all issues and is concerned about explaining the cause of pain and what he can do to eliminate or minimize not just the pain, but the cause of the pain. He uses all available options rather than immediately suggesting surgery as the first response to a problem. He performed my first surgery over ten years ago. I strongly recommend Dr. West. When for my appointment and in the middle he had a call on his cell phone and said he needed to take it but would be right back and the next thing I knew the nurse was bring my paper work I still had questions and I grab the paper work and went to pay my copayment and another nurse came and said if I needed to talk to him he would come back out by that time I was so mad I couldn’t even remember my concerns if I wanted to. I am not planning on going back to him or send anyone I know to him. Very kind staff. Dr. West is kind and knowledgeable

I have been to many orthopedic doctors over the years and Dr. West is the best. He takes the time to listen to your questions and concerns. He does not tell me that I can't perform an activity. He works with me to help manage my pain (bad knee). I have been seeing him for over two years. I plan on him being my doctor for a long time!

I have been going to Southwest Orthopedic and Dr Derek West has been my Dr since 2010....I have never had any bad experience.....the staff has been wonderful as well.....I recommend Southwest Orthopedic to everyone that is needing helping......

no complants Dr West did a total replacment on my right shoulder in Oct 2020 and di the same on my left shoulder Dec 2021. right shoulder 100% satisfide in rehab on left . Dr West is the best.

DR.Derek West is a good Doctor. Did surgery 2013 on my right knee. Very successful. Now, shots on knees. Thank you DR. West.

Very busy place, appt at 900 showed up 30 mins early and was x-rayed and seen before 0920 and was on my way by 0925. Very prompt .. still waiting on call to set MRI though...

I got very friendly service and very professional care

I always appreciate the speed in which the staff gets the patient in a room, though there was a little bit of a wait afterward. The staff is also very courteous.

I appreciated his approach to my care and how he and his team were very quick to get me scheduled for surgery the next day. His nurses and assistants were very kind. I found it odd that I did not see him once for my procedure, either before or after. My husband got the call from Dr. West while he was in the recovery room with me. I’ve only ever had 1 other surgery in my life but the Otho who did my knee was present and in contact with myself and my family throughout the whole process. I sort of expected the same to occur for this procedure with Dr. West. Nonetheless he came highly recommended and the reviews on him are exceptional so perhaps he was having an off day when I saw him Tuesday. All and all I’m thankful to be on the road to recovery, thanks to Dr. West and his team.
