The man is a wizard at pulling teeth.

The worst experience of my life. I showed up at the appointed time, when i was forced to wait an hour past my time, then when I get in and they numb me up im shocked to notice I'm not nearly numb enough for what's in store. I asked for more from one of the assistants but it was apparently not heard.So when they start pulling I tear up and cry out in pain, which they ignored, when I tried to stop them they just said it'd be over soon and kept going. Finally after getting most of it out the last root hurt the worst and after crying out in pain louder then before, he just said he would put more numbing agent in. Basically when he was already done. My boyfriend went here for his wisdom tooth removal, most of the nurses were nice but the one who gave him his IV messed up and missed the vain, causing a lot of pain in his arm. Normally I’m not one to write reviews but on top of that they were very unorganized and also had to put him back in surgery a second time because they missed a piece of the tooth. Would not recommend this oral surgeon and we will not be going back. Update, I called the office today and the receptionist had so much attitude. And the doctor called me about 10 minutes ago, telling me he called me at 3 o’clock, I said oh really? And checked my call log, there was no call so I let him know. I have been impressed with Dr. DeDecker and how he has compassion on his patients. Many of them have thanked me when they are finished with their service and have told me proudly how long they have been going here and that they have known him for a long time bringing their children here. I have been at the store in uniform picking up milk and have had people stop me and tell me how much they appreciated him and working with their family. My personal experience is that he really cares about our education. He works and trains with us every morning on emergencies just in case; but I've been told that he's never really had an emergency but it's because their biggest motto is prevention. I was very nervous staying awake for my implant placement because I was sedated for my extraction. After having my implant placed i was VERY SURPRISED how easy it was!! I did not have to take any ibuprofen or Tylenol afterwards and i was treated very kind and with extra care due to be being nervous. I will be recommending my family and friends. Dr. DeDecker has been doing implants for me for several years now. His office is quaint, clean and professional. I like Dennis and his matter-of-fact chair side manner is terrific. He has great office staff — Cindy, Laurie and Ashley(2) — know me by name and are super accommodating. Dennis and his staff always find a way to work with my schedule. I refer friends regularly to Dr. DeDecker!

I can’t recommend Dr. Dedecker highly enough. I’m 26 and only just got all four of my wisdom teeth out. I’ve heard horror stories from others, and was definitely nervous, but this process was SO smooth. I’ve had them out less than 24 hours and I have no pain, no bleeding, no swelling! He even personally called me about 5 hours after the procedure just to check on me and make sure any questions I had were answered. After my wife underwent quite a terrible experience at a different local dentist in Bountiful, Dr. DeDecker was recommended to complete a tooth extraction. His office was able to see her immediately, and they did an absolutely wonderful job with explaining all of the options available for the procedure. They were then able to get her in the next day for the surgery in order to minimize any extra days of pain that she was experiencing, as well as prescribe medication to help with her pain. I found Dr DeDecker and his staff to be friendly, professional and very knowledgeable, and his locations in Layton and Bountiful were both warm and inviting as well. I am two mos post wisdom teeth extraction and half of my tongue is still numb due to what was explained as an accident. I felt like just another number and am extremely angry with how careless the staff were. This is something I will most likely have to learn to live with and it’s emotionally draining. We have quite a history with this oral surgeon. He has treated 6 of our children, and done several procedures on me, including two tooth implants. We have had positive results. He has a gentle touch and his procedures work as advertised. The place is easy to find, and parking is usually plentiful

I went in with a lot of expectations about how horrible wisdom teeth removal would be for me, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how much easier it was to go through than I thought it would be. The staff was kind and they knew what they were doing the moment I came through the door. The nurses treated me very well as they prepared me for the procedure, as well as after I woke up. And Dr. DeDecker completed all four of my extractions in about 30 minutes, so not only was I not in the procedure room for hours on end, I got to go home in record time to recover. Had a horrible experience at his office with his staff. Cindy, the insurance specialist doesn't know how to do her job, so expect a huge bill to come from them. And the front office manager, Jodee, is rude and you don't get anywhere with her. Very unprofessional!!!

Pros: 1. They fit me in as early as they could to get me an appointment for wisdom teeth extraction. 2. The surgery went really well. 3. My recovery was smooth. 4. They suggested no dairy for the first couple days of recovery. I had never heard another office recommend that. I feel it significantly impacted my recovery in a positive way. 5. I had no noticeable swelling. 6. Redheaded secretary was very nice Cons: 1. I'd had multiple surgeries before this one so I knew what to expect, but if I was inexperienced, the way the handled prep for the procedure would have filled me with fear. Without speaking to me, the assistants had me lay on a table and strapped me down. Then they covered my mouth with some oxygen thing and put a tray of tools over my stomach. Then stuck monitors on my body. I wish the assistants had been a bit more comforting. 2. The doctor did not tell me when he started the anesthesia. 3. While my Mother had brain cancer, she could not lay back, and he removed the infected teeth that was causing her pain while she sat up. My son had his wisdom teeth taken out by him, and there was not swelling or pain. He did several oral surgeries on my father, who is crippled and on constant oxygen with a heart condition, and did an outstanding job. I have also had teeth removed from him. My son had his wisdom teeth removed from Dr.DeDecker and he did a wonderful job. My son was in minimal pain and there were no complications. The doctor and staff were very friendly and the procedure was very well explained. Would definitely recommend.

DeDecker was incredible for my wisdom teeth removal! Knocked me out, boyfriend said I was done 20 minutes later. It was fast, painless, and I didn't swell up or anything. I got this done on Friday and today is Monday and I'm already eating harder (but still squishy) foods and am pretty much painless today. Yay!

Dr. DeDecker is very knowledgable and conservative without having an ego. He was very willing to listen to me and together we were able to work out a plan to solve the problem I was facing orally. His staff were very nice and helped to ease some of my fears. I had a lot of trust in what he was telling me and was good at explaining things.

Will not let you be in the recovery room with your child. Even after my child threw up I still was not let back to my child. Hope he is not getting molested by the staff putting a lot of trust in them.

I was really unhappy with my experience with Dr. DeDecker removing my wisdom teeth. He was very impersonal and insensitive and didn't care how I felt at all. After I got my procedure done, I wasn't given any directions or anything to help clean my mouth. After a week I was still in extreme pain and had infection literally oozing out of my mouth. When I went back in for my post op appointment, I told him about the pain and he recut open my stitches without any numbing or anything and was extremely rough! All while I was crying and trying not to scream. He gave me antibiotics for a week and told me to come back. I did the full round of antibiotics and still had the infection and I had to force myself to go back to get more antibiotics. I was miserable for at least a month. Never will I go back or recommend him to anyone. I was really unhappy with my experience with Dr. DeDecker removing my wisdom teeth. Every time I come, I am impressed by the excellence with which the office is run. I have had 9 children have their wisdom teeth removed by Dr. DeDecker and they did great. I had a case where a daughter was in great pain after several trips to another dentist. I brought her to Dr. DeDecker and he found the problem within one minute from the time she opened her mouth.
