The best! We love Uptown Pediatrics!!

We have been coming to see Dr. Denise and her staff since my kids were toddlers. We love it here! She and the staff are knowledgeable, and explain things to the kids in language they can understand. I started bringing in my guys to the dentist when they were little and all that needed to be done was count their teeth. The benefit was 1)to start good dental practices early and 2) by the time that the child actually needed dental work (e.g. if child had a cavity), my child was used to visiting the dentist office and had positive associations with it. Another plus is that this office is very careful about cleaning and sanitizing the workspace and equipment between each patient. They have been doing this for years prior to COVID. And as an Epidemiologist, I appreciate that!

This time around my son is older and is more aware of his pain tolerance. I was able to witness the doctors professionalism and flexibility with this kids. I appreciate their ability to be patience with the children and I would recommend them to friends and family any day.

This is as our first visit (2.5 year old son) and it was amazing! The staff was kind, patient and a very calming overall presence. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

My daughter, 6 years old, had historically been very slow to trust and resistant to any work being done at the dentist. It was so bad that she could never actually get a cleaning or X-rays done in the past. We gave the receptionist this info when we booked the appointment and Dr. Denise was prepared and ready to help my daughter feel comfortable. Not only was she able to do an exam and cleaning but she was also able to get X-rays! I couldn’t recommend Dr. Denise more—she’s fantastic at working with the kids!

Amazing staff and fun environment for the kids.

Uptown is the best. My son has been going there since his very first checkup and is about to turn 7. Everyone from Dr Denise to the hygienists to the admin team are incredible. I was scared of the dentist growing up and my son actually asks when we are going next and looks forward to it. They reward him for good practices, they encourage, they tell him exactly what they are doing, they are patient when he fidgets, and then he gets prizes at the end. I’ve also never had an issue with insurance and billing — it’s truly seamless. We used to live down the street and then move to the hills but we never considered switching for a moment even though I changed my adult dentist. Added bonus — a business run by a woman of color. Highly recommend — no question.

Was a good visit, everyone very friendly, everything was explained thoroughly, my little boy was happy!

The whole staff is amazing with my 3yo and Dr. Denise was so patient and kind, showing him all of her tools beforehand to ease him into the process and affirm in him that it was a safe space and a positive experience. She’s amazing!!

Dr. Denise is amazing with our kids, one of whom struggles at medical/dental visits! She knows how to engage our kids, and they know she genuinely cares about them. She always explains everything that’s happening and is so patient with us and our endless questions. We always come out feeling great!

My son loves going to Uptown Pediatric, and loves Denise bass and all the staff. They are very efficient, on time, quick, and thorough. And I love all the decorations for the kids in the office and the goodie bag we get to have after we are all done! I've been going to them for 3 years and will continue to do so! They make a child's experience and going to the dentist much more easier for the parent.

What can we say about Dr. Carl?! For someone who was only on his second dentist visit to be so excited to show me his teeth…Dr. Carl worked some magic! Actually, it was my wife who raved about Dr. Carl, the hygienist and how skilled, child-centered and wonderful the whole practice is. And she’s a tough customer but she said she could see why I like it so much. We really appreciate all of the care and attention and kindness at Uptown Pediatric Dentistry and actually look forward to our next visit!

Dr. Denise and Ms. Kayla were super patient and worked with my child at her own pace and were just incredibly skilled. The whole office is friendly, warm, and caring. Would absolutely recommend - they are amazing.

The kids loved it! This was their first dental visit at this office. The staff was so friendly and patient with my somewhat timid kiddos. They have such a fun prize system for the kids as well after each visit.

My 4-year old had a great first teeth cleaning experience here. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Denise made my daughter feel at ease immediately. She loved the fish tank, playhouse, and treasure tower.

Dr. Denise has been my children’s dentist for over 20 years. She and her staff are the absolute best.

I had an amazing experience with Uptown Pediatric Dentistry. Prior to my visit I was able to get my insurance verified and fill out any necessary forms before I arrived. This made the in person experience so much faster and smoother. At my daughter’s appointment, everyone was in great spirits, resourceful and accommodating. We saw Dr. Bass and she was amazing! She answered every question I had and gave helpful tips on best practices for brushing my toddler’s teeth at home. I’m absolutely happy I found this place!

Wonderful experience with everyone we met. It was the first visit to the dentist for my daughter, who is normally very wary of strangers. Dr. Chang was great with her. Calming and gentle and made sure to engage my daughter in everything that was going on. Playing in the office was a huge hit, and so was the big aquarium!

My daughter has been a patient here for 7 years. Love Dr. Denise and Dr. Susanna. They both have a very calm demeanor and the atmosphere of the office is calm and welcoming. They use language that makes younger children comfortable with the instruments and procedures and that they can understand. They also go out of their way to tell their patient’s what they are doing every step of the way. I highly recommend!

Dr. Denise Bass was great! Our 14-month-old did really well, and was stimulated by the decor, fish tank, and positive staff. We learned a lot about which foods are +/- and how to take care of her little teeth. My husband wants her to be his dentist haha!

This is the best pediatric dentist office in Oakland! All the dentists here are great, as are the other members of their team. We love Dr. Denise. She is so caring and supportive of kids. She really knows her stuff. Everyone at the office is incredibly welcoming and safe. It’s an absolute pleasure for my son :)

Zilda the receptionist is 100% dedicated to getting patients the care they need. She moved mountains to help us sort out insurance and squeeze in a time sensitive appointment. When we got in, dr. Cheng was great with my 3yo. She explained things well to him, gently accomplished a full cleaning/brushing/flossing/fluoride, and my son had a good experience overall. Highly recommend! My kids been going to Dr Denise Allen and her colleagues for over 8 years. Always professional and wonderful dentist office! Highly recommend!

My son has been coming to Dr. Chang since his very first dentist appointment as an itty bitty tot. To this day, he looks forward to each dentist appointment, happily hopping in the chair and often ready even before they get to his station! I realize his innate long-running excitement for going to the dentist may be unusual for a 7 year old, but I have no doubt it has a lot to do with the care, kindness, attention, and extra prize tokens the staff gives him with each visit. Dr.Bass and her staff are amazing! My child loves going to the dentist because of the fun and caring environment they provide. They have also done a great job teaching my son how to properly care for his teeth, and giving me pointers for helping him as well!

Uptown is a wonderful place for kids. We selected Uptown based on a referral from a friend who’s a dentist and haven’t been disappointed. Dr. Denise is skilled in calming younger children (we have experience from 1-6 yrs old) and helping them feel great about the experience. By far the best part of the office is the staff’s diversity. I have always wanted to expose my girls to female doctors and role models and Uptown is an amazing place for exposing them to professional woman and doctors of color. We find that deeply important. We love the staff & Dr. Franklin. The office is very child friendly with a sega game, fish tank, and kids earn tokens for prizes after their visit.

Our family loves this practice! Everyone is so kind and professional. Service is quick yet thorough, it feels very COVID-safe, and the prizes are a big hit. My children actually enjoy going to the dentist.

Very well run office. The entire staff is professional, friendly and awesome.

Dr. Bass Allen is such a blessing. She is so great with my toddlers and made them so comfortable in such a strange environment for young kids. They look forward to their visits each time. I would give 10 stars if I could!

This is the best pediatric dentist I’ve ever taken my children too. They are so kind, fun, enjoyable. My son and daughter wanted to go back, what child ever says that about the dentist.

My son is always happy to go to his dentist appointment. Everyone in the office is so nice. I highly recommend this place.

My children are 14 and 20 years old that have received excellent service since their first dental appointment as toddlers . We love Dr. Bass and staff. Although we don’t live in area anymore, we commute for the superb services. Will continue to receive dental services that I can trust from Uptown Dentistry .

Short staffed so Started the appointment later than I’d like but the experience was great. They’re usually really prompt. Dr. Denise is always so good with my girls (12 & 3). I would love to see paper towels & a stool in the bathroom for the shorter patients though.
