I went to Dr Diedre Larrier to ask her if my daughter has a tongue tie because the lactation consultant (LC) told us that this was a possibility but she couldn’t diagnose it. My daughter had latching issues since birth and even took a very long time drinking from her bottle. After going to see Dr Larrier, she looked in my daughter’s mouth briefly and said she does not have a tongue tie. She then spoke to the LC again and the LC told her the findings she had found in her office (taking a long time to transfer milk from the breast, etc). Dr Larrier then referred me to a speech and language pathologist who I went to see as well and again I was told there is no tongue tie. Fast forward 3 months, after noticing that her drinking was getting worse, I went to a pediatric dentist in the Woodlands who found a lip and tongue tie and clipped both. My daughter has now gotten used to the bottle because I was pumping and feeding her milk since she was taking too long to drink from breast feeding and then would be hungry again immediately. Now that she is 3 months old, it’s a lot harder to get her to latch or even fix the way she drinks from then bottle. I would not recommend Dr Larrier because these problems could have been avoided had she caught the tongue tie or simply said “I’m not sure” and told me to go somewhere else. Initial visit with Dr. Deidre was so informative and helpful. We went in to obtain a second opinion for surgery for our child and we could not be more happier on how she made us feel about it and that she was able to respond to all our questions with clear answers. Definitely my go to ENT from now on!
