I met Kakar on St Joe’s mental health floor and received one evaluation from him, but fortunately my care wasn’t in his hands. The patients I encountered on the mental health floor who were under his care were zombified and distraught. He is not a true medical professional and hopefully his license is stripped soon. Hit him with lawsuits he is a horrible doctor and has no place in Metro Detroit. Don’t take anyone you love to him.

Wish I could give him NO stars! Dr. Kakar is rude, arrogant and cares ONLY about himself and his "image!" He doesn't care about the patients! He is also rude to his staff!

I wish I could give this doctor and office zero stars. They are crooks and just want your money. Will be reporting him to the state medical board.

Dr. Kakar has treated my two sons for 9 years. They both have made tremendous progress with the symptoms of their illnesses. Dr. Kakar is an exceptional diagnostician and communicator. With effective medication and outstanding counseling and patient/parent dialogue, Dr. Kakar has helped my sons through crisis to stability. He is always available, caring, and professional.

Dr. Davinder Kakar is an exceptional psychiatrist. He has guided my two sons with effective medication and behavioral advice. Dr. Kakar has astute observational skills and excellent conversational skills with children and young adults.

He doesn’t care about patients and will do whatever your insurance pays for. If you could get out of the hospital, but the insurance will pay for more time - he will literally tell you you have to stay for that reason. Can someone look into this man? Checks and balances. My daughter was a patient for many, many years and Dr. Kakar was always very thorough, tough with her when needed, and always made sure her medications were working and were correct. Yes, sometimes he is overbooked, which I think happens because he doesn't want to turn away anyone who really needs an appointment. Dr. Kakar is a brilliant and compassionate psychiatrist. He has helped my two sons with effective medication and astute counsel. I give Dr. Kakar my highest recommendations.

0 stars. Totally inept. I'm seeing him as a total fake. Absolutely NOT a medical professional.

Ten minutes for a diagnosis. I've been diagnosed by two of the best in the U.S. Karkar falls short of a physician who cares about his diagnosis or the patient. The medications he ordered are contraindicated w/ ACE inhibitors. The mixture would've been catastrophic. With a bachelors in nursing, pharmacology has been beneficial in protecting the well being of myself & others. There are too many caring, better physicians to risk seeing Karkar! If you want drugs, Lithium, Seroquel etc. he's a 5*

This doctor asked me no questions about my health.... he proceeded to tell me how I was feeling and what I was thinking. Took no time to evaluate me, it felt like he was blowing me off or what I said was unimportant.

Shows zero empathy. Rude, arrogant, and condescending. He needs to find another line of work. You'd need to seek psych help after seeing this psychiatrist. Seriously, so many other great doctors who care. This man is a disgrace to the profession.

Licensed Criminal. He misdiagnosed me countless of times. Obviously greed driven and should not be allowed to practice medicine. On top of that he is very rude, does not listen at all, threatening, and pushes pills for personal gain. If I could give no stars I would. I knew better than to go th Dr Kakar, after experiencing him at Havenwyck, against my better judgement i did anyway, because my primary care docter reccomended him. He doesn't listen, rushes you, there was another lady in the waiting room with the exact same appointment time as i had. He did not take time to understand the problem i am experiencing, he is abrupt, his diagnosis made no sence what so ever, a complete waste of time and money. If you need real help DO NOT see this so called doctor. Apparently, everyone that sees him is Bipolar, and he will over- medicate you. When you tell him the mess aren't working, he will tell you that it is because your dosage isn't high enough! I went to two other doctors and they both reviewed my medical records and confirmed that he was wrong. I think diagnosing someone as bipolar and giving mess that don't help is an easy way to make money. We have had nothing but good experiences with the doctor and his office. He came highly recommended by my sister in law.

Dr. Kakar has given my sons excellent advice and treatment. He is attentive, thorough, and wise in his diagnosis and guidance. He was highly recommended by my sons' physician for treatment and behavior modification for ADHD. My sons have experienced much success academically and socially due to Dr. Kakar's medical care and expertise.

Thank you, Dr. Kakar for helping me learn how to live again, for if it wasn't for you I don't think I would have ever gotten out of my bedroom or the house. I was in a very bad place when I came to see you. You have always taken the time to see me even in a crisis, I would call you after hours and you would return my calls. I have even called during office hours and your office staff always accommodated me. I've come along ways and I'm still taking one day at a time for a successful recovery! I have been seeing Dr. Kakar for over 5 years and I am shocked at some of the reviews regarding his actions during his appointments. His English is not "bad" or "mangled". He is very thoruogh and is genuinely concerned about his patients. There have been several occasions where I have needed something and he would take my calls at anytime day or night. If he feels his patients are a danger to themselves he quickly takes action. We all have Dr's. we like and those we do not. I just thought I would defend him in regards to his abilities and the way he practices Psychiatry. Also, I am not sure if it is known, but he is the head psychiatrist for the St Joe's inpatient program. So, he must be doing something right. This July I will have been seeing Dr. Kakar for three years. We have a very good working relationship. Each month I bring him my concerns and updates about how I am feeling. He listens carefully and provides encouraging words and then decides whether any changes need to be made to my medication regiment. I am satisfied that I have found Dr. Kakar to be very professional as we are open and honest with each other.

Horrible experience with Dr. Kakar. I don't believe he should even be practicing. He's a disgrace to the psychiatric field. Incompetent, he violates HIPPA routinely and does not act professionally. He spends time on his smartphone looking at photos of friends and relatives and even was looking at inappropriate images on his phone during a session. He's rude, abrupt, insulting and can't converse in English properly. He just want to get rich, he doesn't care about patients and talks with patients about personal confidential info in the hallways. He should lose his license to practice medicine. Wildly inappropriate, completely wrapped up in himself and not truly interested in patients. He talks non stop about money and that's al he honestly cares about- that's when you manage to understand what he is saying in his seriously mangled English. Office staff are not a lot better. We had billing problems quite a long time after that. This guy can't diagnosis anything. I feel he was rude and abrupt and interrupts a lot.
