Dr. David Meade Smith

I’m a dentist and this is where I chose to send my wife for her wisdom teeth.

Absolute horror story: my mother had a molar extracted and cadaver bone inserted into her jawbone by Dr. D. Smith. The nerve block did not work and she felt everything, down to the stitches when they finally finished digging pieces of the molar out of her jaw. My mother, who has a very high pain threshold, is also very sweet and timid, so she assumed that is was just a super painful procedure. Instead of immediately stopping the procedure and asking her why she was crying and hyperventilating, Dr. Smith firmly reprimanded her several times for "breathing through her mouth." He never stopped or asked how she was doing. He never asked if she was fully numb before beginning the procedure either. As someone who has worked in a dental office, this is wrong on so many levels. My mother left fully traumatized and in extreme pain. Rule #1 for dentists and doctors: make sure your patient is fully numb before beginning the surgical procedure. This should go without saying. Raymore Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, how will you make this right?

Highly recommended. Procedure went off without a hitch. Dr. Smith took extra time with me to review options (I needed a bone graft which was not expected) and explain what would happen next. He then called me personally after hours to see how I was doing and answer any questions.

1st time online paperwork would not 'send'. Got busy with illness & broken furnance n middle of winter. Sent online paperwork n a week before. But my appts already cancelled. Wont go back.

I highly recommend! My 12 yr old son with Autism needed to have a baby tooth extracted. This can be rough with any child, but especially with a child with Autism. A friend recommended Dr. Smith. We had a consultation to discuss options. Dr. Smith chatted with my son and really put my mind at ease. The day of the procedure, Dr. Smith and his staff were all so kind to my son, and to me. They were patient, but also took charge and handled the situation calmly when my son got very nervous. Dr. Smith called to check on my son that evening...including leaving his cell phone number. Dr. Smith and his staff did a phenomenal job. I just had my wisdom removed yesterday (12/22) and I slept so well last night and no pain today. There was a tiny mishap when I first got there but nothing too bad. The procedure went smoothly and I think I was in and out in 30 minutes. Would 1000% recommend to anyone who needed oral surgery of some sort. Not to mention, he went out of his way and called later in the evening to check on me Dr. Smith and his staff did a phenomenal job. Everyone working today was amazing. They eased my nerves before surgery and were a great people. Dr Smith and his staff are genuine, professional, and thoughtful. Even xalled after to check up on me.

My wife went here today because she was recommended here, and was taken back by a VERY RUDE receptionist! And Mr David Smith was very unprofessional and RUDE which is appalling to say the least! DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE WANTING A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE!

My daughter needed a baby tooth extracted. She had a very bad first impression of the dental industry. (Not here, another dental office) Because of that experience she has been extremely nervous of anything tooth related. Dr Smith was very patient and explained the pros and cons of nitrous vs "going under". We never felt rushed or pressured. Nor did I feel like we were treated different for being self pay (not having health insurance). Thank you so much for easing my daughters nerves. I couldn't recommend Raymore Oral Surgery more! If I could rate them higher I definitely would. I have been putting off getting my wisdom teeth out for 3yrs, with the experience I had I wish I had gone sooner! They were so kind, caring, and informative. They explained everything they would be doing and put my mind at ease. I had little to no pain my whole recovery, and the doctor himself called to check on me later that day of surgery! Having just had a tooth and wisdom tooth removed I can say that Dr. Smith was polite, professional, attentive and made the entire process as pleasant as can be for surgery. The front desk ladies were very nice, as were the ladies who assisted Dr. Smith. I highly recommend coming here!

He doesn't rush through the appointment and he explains everything thoroughly. He even addresses the emotional side of the issues. This is very uncommon for any medical profession.

My 12 yr old daughter had a wonderful experience with Dr. Smith and his staff. She had two premolars removed for braces and was asleep during the procedure. Dr.Smith and his staff really took the time to explain everything prior to the procedure while making her as comfortable as they could. My daughter has had no pain and has only had to take a few Advil today. Several hours later Dr. Smith called to check on how my daughter was doing. They were very inconsiderate of my anxiety. I was freaking out before my procedure and they wouldn’t listen at all. Way too fast paced you don’t get a personalized feel at all it’s one in one out. It was the worst experience of my life they weren’t incredibly forceful and dismissive. After the tooth removal they left me alone in recovery for over an hour and wouldn’t answer any of my questions. They were very inconsiderate of my anxiety. I highly recommend Dr. Smith and his staff. Very professional and attentive to my comfort, before, during and after the procedure.

He personally followed up the op with s phone call the eve of. And again 3 days after at 830 pm on a Friday. This guy is the real deal. They don’t make Professionals that care like dr Smith does anymore. Please do yourself a favor and choose doc smith above all other for pal issues.

If you have medical or dental anxiety. I would suggest asking for a consultation to meet the doctor. Get a feeling of the office. When I orginally called after a referral I did feel rushed and not listened too. But after explaining again that I needed to at least meet him. She automatically mentioned a consultation. So if you have a referral and still are worried ask for a consultation. I had my consultation, he listened to every concern I had along with his nurse. He even mentioned he could numb me after anesthesia because of my fears and thats when I knew we were on the same page. After being given a very reasonable quote. I booked my extractions. Showed up on time. And was quickly escorted back. The dental nurses were wonderful. He certainly knows how to pick staff. The IV was the best I have ever experienced. So no fear needed there. I think woke up and was greated by a nurse who went over all the instructions with my husband and me. Then the doctor also came to visit and told me he remembered that i mentioned I might need more antibiotics and that he made sure I was able to get them. (Who remembers that stuff nowdays.) I felt like I was treated like family and would return anytime and really feel like this visit actully helped my anexity. AWESOME experience. Staff was very friendly, place was VERY clean & everything was made to be comfortable. No hidden surprises here. The staff will quote you exactly what you need, with no extras. I got 2 wisdom teeth &a Super-numial tooth removed, with compete comfort. Dr. Smith was very personal, walked me though everything & treated me like a friend & not just another patient. After several hours of being home, Dr. Smith called me to check in on me & too the extra step to make sure I was doing ok, talked with me about eating, taking my meds & steps to keep everything clean. 10 out of 10, best experience. HUGE RAVE AHEAD!! Raymore Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Staff and Dr. Smith deserve the biggest and best review! I have never been to a more caring, kind, helpful, sincere facility in my life! They have been extremely helpful through whole insane process I’ve been through. Unfortunately, I did not get the diagnosis I would have preferred to have, but throughout it, the care and follow up this office provided me has been nothing short of outstanding! They made sure they did everything they could to get the billing worked out, they offered options, they were very humble, and warm. Dr. Smith called me the night after my surgery on his own time to make sure I was doing okay. He called me personally to deliver Preliminary pathology and Final pathology. And he also returned all my calls with questions, personally. When you call and get his staff they listen, take note and never treat you like your asking too much or wasting their time. THEY CARE! Here recently I had to have my wisdom teeth removed along with two other teeth. I had been dreading this procedure for two years. I met with Dr Smith sometime last year and still did not have the courage to go through with the procedure. Finally, I experienced a small aching pain from one of my teeth and knee it was time to nip it in the bud. I’m so happy I found the courage. For this to have been my very first surgery ever it was the best (greatly because I was asleep) HOWEVER Dr. Smith and his staff were AMAZING!!!! From the multiple calls my nervous self made to walking me to the car. I had swelling only my first day. Was able to return to work the following day. Absolutely no complications. RAVE to Dr. David Smith and the rest of the team at Raymore Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. First, I was impressed by him at the consultation a month ago. He sat me down and explained everything to me and offered to answer any of my questions. Yesterday he extracted two of my teeth and did bone grafting on them. The best dental experience i've ever had - from the time I scheduled my appointment to the time I left the office. I had a broken tooth that I ignored for YEARS because I am absolutely TERRIFIED by dentists/ dentist offices. But as soon as i explained my situation to the receptionist she got me in in just a couple days. (Anywhere else i would have had to wait a month with a swollen jaw.) She was also the most helpful/ friendliest receptionist I have ever talked to. Fast forward to the day of my appointment- everyone is calm and friendly and welcoming, which really helped since I was riddled with anxiety. Dr. Smith was just as wonderful. He made a really stressful situation for me feel like it was no big deal. He was so patient, and so nice and it really felt genuine. You can tell the people here enjoy their work and actually care about the kind of service that they provide. Also, i don't know if it's the drugs they had me on during surgery or what but i totally felt like i was in a james bond movie or Charlie's angels or something. Highly recommend going here. I had my wisdom teeth removed and my experience was great. From the time i walked in until i left i felt welcomed. The staff answered all my questions and went through the whole process with me. They made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Dr. Smith went over the procedure with me and let me know what all he would be doing and walked me through it. Made me feel very comfortable and less nervous. He was honest and upfront with risk that could happen and i appreciated that. He made sure i was ok before he put me to sleep. As soon as i woke up the staff made sure i felt ok and assisted me with transitioning. A few hours after i had returned home Dr. Smith gave me a call to follow up and see how i was doing. This office is wonderful! I was very afraid to have my 4 wisdom teeth extracted, but everyone has been so helpful in giving me information and making the experience comfortable! She had a failure of her bone graft which forced us to start process from beginning. Dr. Smith is beyond patient and caring. His staff is lovely to work with. Excellent experience all the way around. Dr. Smith is intelligent, knowledgeable, and caring. He gave me all the information I needed and even anticipated questions and concerns that I may have. He took the time to listen to me and never made me feel rushed or like he had to get to his next patient. He prepared me very well for my surgery by telling me exactly what I could expect to happen before, during, and after. His staff is equally fabulous and took care of all the insurance -- I didn't have to do a thing. If you have to have surgery, this is an excellent surgeon. I would never recommend this doctor or refer anyone to him. The miscommunication, confusion and unprofessionalism in dealing with him and his staff was shocking. As someone who never leaves reviews, because they're simply not enough hours in the day for things like that, this is something that needed to be said. #pissedoff

I had three teeth pulled just yesterday and am amazed at how little discomfort I've had. Dr Smith and his staff were very efficient, he explained the procedure thoroughly, I opted for general anesthesia (my first time ever), they hooked me up, knocked me out and took care of problems that had plagued me way too long. I felt pretty lucid when I woke up and comfortable enough to go to my son's baseball game a few hours later. Dr Smith even called me later in the evening to see how i felt. Thank you. First of all, I just want to say that we have used this oral surgeon twice and the service was great. However, the 2nd time we paid the cash price while waiting for our Cobra coverage to kick in. The lady at the desk told us they would cut us a check as soon as my insurance paid them. Well, fast forward a month, they have the payment from my insurance (in addition to the payment we gave them) and they have a "hold" on our account. She said we won't get reimbursed for another month. She gave me some BS reason, saying my insurance may send them another payment. Maybe that's standard practice (who the heck knows?) but I think it's just a bit unfair. Had I known this we probably would have waited a couple days for our coverage to kick in. Again, Dr. Smith is excellent. But if you have a situation like mine, be informed and ask as many questions as you can. And be aware and know they will hold your money.
