Dr. David E Rivadeneira

Dr Rivadeneira performed laparoscopic surgery on me this past November to repair an abdominal incisional hernia. He specializes in this minimally invasive surgery and was very informative, reassuring and caring for the entire process. He explained the procedure and the recovery that I could expect. All went as planned and the repair is working very well. The laparoscopic procure resulted in a quicker recovery time than the non-laparoscopic repair I had some time ago by another Doctor. The procedure was preformed in Huntington Hospital as a"out patient". I was in by 7AM and out by noon. I am very happy with Dr Rivadeneira and Huntington Hospital and recommend both highly.

Dr Rivadeneira has tremendously improved my quality of life. During childbirth I suffered severe trauma to my perineum and sphincter muscles causing me to suffer from fecal incontinence. Dr R was able to perform a sphincterplasty allowing me to regain control. Dr R was extremely professional and compassionate throughout the entire process for what is a very hard and embarrassing issue to deal with. He was extremely prompt with his office visits as well as on the day of surgery at Huntington hospital and made sure he spent the time to explain everything to me and make me feel at ease. I am extremely grateful to Dr Rivadeneira for his expertise and for improving my quality of life.

Dr. David Rivadeneira was recommended to me and my mom from our Gastro Dr Keschner. My mom had serve intestinal bleeding. For a year every few months my mom was bleeding and would have to be admitted to the hospital every time. All this was happening during covid highest point. My mom had diverticulitis and diverticulosis . At our consultation with Dr Rivadeneria he was comforting, he explained everything to our understanding, he seem like a man of faith which was a plus . At the time my mom was 79 he was able to remove a good length of my moms damaged intestines and she did not have a coloscopy bag. My mom's recovery was slow, but she healed remarkably. Dr. Rivadeneria' team were also very attentive and caring. Dr. Rivadeneria nurse practitioner Shanety was caring , kind, friendly, knowledgeable and was very reachable if I need help or had a question. My mom is doing Great and we are so thankful to God for guiding us to Dr. David Rivadeneira.

I have dealt with internal hemorrhoids for more than 40 years. I was tired of having them bleed from time to time. A close friend highly recommended that I see Dr. Rivadeneira about removing them. I was very hesitant however when I met him, I was calmed simply by his caring and compassionate nature. He explained the procedure to me and it was over in a matter of minutes. It was painless, quick and uneventful. I will return to him when I need a colonoscopy because I trust him. I recommend him highly!!

Dr Rivadeneira from the very first visit was very patient and professional, he explained everything in layman's terms that I understood and was willing to answer any questions, as I was very apprehensive and it took me 6 years to have this procedure done. I was referred to Dr. Rivadeneira with a Colon issue. He is very thorough in his visits. Extremely comfortable to speak with and offers a lot of knowledge and advice in regard to whatever issues you are having. The good Dr told me that my issue could take up to four to five additional visits before it is resolved. Well after just two visits he told me that I did not need to come anymore unless I had further issues. He could have just asked me to come two more times and taken extra money, but he didn't. The issue was resolved, and I was very happy with him. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I was recommended to Dr. Rivadeneira from another surgeon, due to the fact i was considered high risk. Met with Dr. Rivadeneira who explained in detail the surgery i need. He also advised me based on the CT scan, I may need a colostomy bag whether it be for 3 month or the rest of my life since the diverticulosis was spread throughout my large intestines. My surgery lasted about 3 hours and Dr, Rivadeneira skills ensured that i did not have to get the bag. That is a life changer. He aslo repaired the 2 fistulas I had. One was between my blatter and colon and other was between my large and small intestines. The aftercare at his office was outstanding. I would recommend Dr. Rivadeneira to anyone that has the kind of problems i had.

In March of 2022 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I was referred to Dr. Rivadeneira for my surgery. Upon meeting with Dr. Rivadeneira me and my wife knew we had the right surgeon. He put us at ease going through the entire process of the diagnosis to the surgery to the after care. He basically answered all of our questions before we could ask them. His office staff was also excellent and returned all calls and emails quickly. This was the most traumatic time in my life made so much easier with Dr. Rivadeneira's compassion and thoughtfulness. Fast forward to today- I am now on the road to recovery and forever grateful for the care we received.

Dr. Rivadeneira made me feel comfortable from the start. I wished I had come to see him sooner. Front office is exceptional. I had suffered from hemroids for some time but was embarrassed to see someone until the discomfort was unbearable. Dr Rivadeneira recommend banding procedure instead of invasive surgery. Within three visits my discomfort had stopped. The procedure is quick and you can resume doing all the things you want to do immediately. He has truly changed my life. Thank you Doc.

20 years ago, I had a cyst removed from my right ovary. In December my Obgyn thought I had the same issue on the left side. He referred me to a surgeon, who also believe it to be on my ovary. I was scheduled for surgery in February. During the surgery, they immediately called Dr. Rivadeniera in, as they discovered it was a gastrointestinal issue and could not be performed by an Obgyn. I had a massive Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) located on my small bowel. In April, Dr. Rivadeniera and his team successfully removed the GIST and performed a small bowel resection. While all margins were negative, it was suggested I see an oncologist, due to the very large size. It is now two months after my surgery, and I'm feeling great and ready to get back to my life. Dr. Rivadeniera is a wonderful, talented, and caring surgeon with offices in several convenient locations. I highly recommend anyone who needs surgery for a gastrointestinal issue to call him first.

I had been diagnosed with Severe Diverticulitis 2021 and I was on my way to having a blowout or getting colon cancer. My life sucked I could barely eat anything I rarely went out to dinner. If I did I risked inflaming the diverticulitis and it lasting for months sometimes , I was miserable. I went to Dr. David Rivadeneira I liked him Immediately, he was very easy to talk to , he addressed all my concerns and he was very explanatory. I saw two other doctors but remained impressed with Dr Rivadeneira. He preformed my Colo Resection on 12/06/21. While he was preforming the surgery he found I had developed a fistula as well which in time could have killed me, he repaired it and successfully finished my surgery. I went in the hospital on Monday and was home by Wednesday. All had went well it was a little uncomfortable for a bit as any surgery is but worth it. Dr. Rivadeneira is a great doctor and surgeon. He operated on my husband last December 2021. My husband had a colonoscopy done and unfortunately a mass/tumor was found that needed to be taken out right away.. Dr. R was so caring and helpful and did a reconstruction of my husband's colon/stomach which was very successful. Dr. R saved my husband's life and I am so grateful. He had a great team and they were there for him every step of the way. I highly recommend anyone who needs a specialist in colon surgery that Dr. Rivadeneira is the doctor to go to. When my Husband was diagnosed with colon cancer, we both traumatized. I went to see Dr. Rivadeneira after a large lipoma was detected from a routine colonoscopy. During my first visit, Dr. Rivadeneira tried to figure out a way for me to not have to go through surgery. He sent me to an more invasive gastroenterologist who confirmed it must be removed via a colon resection. I never hesitated at his expertise. My surgery went well and my recovery was very easy. My scar is healing beautifully. This doctor has a great way to make you like very comfortable and relaxed before surgery. Dr. Rivadeneira is AMAZING!

Dr. Rivadeneria is superbly skilled at his art, has a terrific bedside-manner and for a doctor is quite a good listener. He if very patient with the patient, listening to all concerns and insightful in his replies. He also has a very professional support staff that completes the trust factor in his practice.

Worst experience ever! After surgery, I could not reach this doctor even though I was in tremendous pain. I was asking to speak with him, to see him, but not, for TWO months I was talking to reception and nurses. And NO, I am not satisfied with the surgery, but when I saw him after 3 months I got a very painful check-up, and I felt really uncomfortable with him. I am so sorry I found him

My mom is 91 years old and went to the ER with a rectal bleed that was diagnosed as colon cancer. Within a few days she met Dr Rivadeneira and his team. He made diagrams and explained the surgical procedure. She placed her trust in him and did not look back, age wasn’t a factor. Surgery went great with no complications and no chemo. Found Dr. R after quite a few doctors back home wouldn't even consider surgery. I developed a rectovaginal fistula in the rarest spot; at the sphincter muscle. Dr. R was incredibly easy to talk to; both realistic and hopeful. He first gave me a seton drain to strengthen tissue at site. Later, he successfully repaired fistula. Northwell health gets a FIVE star rating; from office visits to a hospital stay that made it feel like a luxury hotel stay. I highly recommend Dr. R. and his team! They all made a very sensitive embarrassing issue a lot easier for me to work through. Glad all is fixed, but sad to say goodbye to him, because my visits were always pleasant.

As a long term sufferer of crohns for almost 20 years now. I needed to have a seton drain to help relieve fistula and abscesses the second time in August 2020. The first time around it was a nightmare due to it being excruciatingly painful. Dr. R and his wonderful team the Seton drain almost felt like it wasn't even there. It helped heal up the fistula and abscess and I'm grateful for all they do. You guys rock!

I am a 79 year old woman, not knowing what to expect, and the minute I met Dr. D, I knew all would be well. I just had a baby and no one tells you what can happen to your behind after having a baby! I got a VERY bad fissure ( which was literally a pain in the butt!) After giving birth (c section) and was recommend to see Doctor Rivadeneira by my primary doctor. I was so nervous because I didn’t know what to expect but when talking to Dr R he made me feel so comfortable! I forgot why I was even there. He was so easy to talk to and gave me all his recommendations to heal the fissure and if that didn’t work we would explore other options. I was so pleased to go back for my second visit and was pretty much all healed. With Dr R advice and guidance he really made me feel so much better. I highly recommend him! I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer by tumor discovery in Jan 2021. After some personal research and family council Dr. Rivadeneira's office/practice easily became our first choice. The very opening minute I met the team I new I was exactly where I needed to be. Every question was answered, every concern talked through, any detail handled with no stone unturned. It was more than a doctors visit, it was striking up a trusting relationship and I will always be truly grateful for it.

I had bleeding painful hemorrhoids for a long as I can remember. It got to a point where it was affecting my quality of life. I put it off after seeing what my mom went though with her hemorrhoid surgery 25 years ago. Dr. Rivadeneira took a look and and asked why did I wait so long? He explained the procedure of banding and 4 visits later I was done. The banding procedure wasn't really painful, it felt more like pressure, like I had to go to the bathroom. I wish I had gone to him years earlier. I would highly recommend him.

Great surgeon and staff. Dr. Rivadeneira was recommended to me by Huntington Hospital following an emergency stay as a result of a perforated colon due to multiple episodes of diverticulitis. Had colon surgery in Jan. 2020, Had bag removed in May, was out mountain biking the end of May! Doc. does the best work! And is just a real nice guy to boot and Huntington Hospital is the place to go!! Two times there and not a bad word to say about anyone, from top to bottom there the best!!

I was living with hemorrhoids for over 10 years because I didn't want to go through the painful process of getting them removed surgically. I finally had to do something because of excessive bleeding and Dr Rivadeneira came highly recommended by close friends and relatives in the medical field. He was very attentive to my concerns and explained to me the option of rubber band litigation rather than surgery. He went over the pros and cons of each. I elected to go with the rubber band litigation and just as he had described, the procedure and the after effects were virtually painless. Some slight pressure for about 24 hours was the extent of what I felt. There were no restrictions on diet or activities. After 3 visits I am hemorrhoid free. I would recommend Dr Rivadeneira to anyone.

Dr. D. Rivadeneira is a true professional, not only as a surgeon but a Doctor who readily communicates the issues and is extremely patient in discussing the issues, in laypersons language. Also, it is obvious that his staff has tremendous respect for him. I'm am grateful that Dr. P. Bermanski (gastroenterology) referred me to Dr. Rivadeneira to address an issue I had with a pre-cancerous polyp in my colon. Dr. Rivadeneira performed a sigmoid resection to eliminate the issue with the polyp. During surgery, Dr. Rivadeneira observed a cancerous tumor on the OUTSIDE of the colon. That section of the colon was removed from my body; if I did not have that procedure, I would have never known I had a serious issue as I felt just fine. Fortunately, this discovery means I have a chance to beat colon cancer. Currently, I am undergoing CHEMO therapy; I requested from Dr. Rivadeneira if he knew of a good oncologist. Dr. Rivadeneira recommended Dr. M. Petryk; she is not just good, she is great.

When diagnosed with colon cancer in March 2019, I was very fortunate that my gastroenterologist referred me to Dr. Rivadeneira. Dr. R is a very calming doctor. He reassured me that my surgery was going to go just fine. I was terrified that I would need a colostomy and he assured me I would not, and he was right! He performed my sigmoidectomy and I was in the hospital for 2 days. I had absolutely no complications and surgery scars are practically gone. His bedside manor is wonderful and his staff is efficient and professional and courteous. A top notch doctor and practice.

His gentle demeanor and the way he explained my condition and how he was going to fix it was in simple terms. Dr. Rivadeneira gave me back my life. I had ulcerative colitis and from the moment I met him, I knew I was putting myself in good hands. He told me. He could help me. The way he said it I knew he could. My Primary had recommended him and I say thank God for him. It’s been a long haul- from having my entire diseased colon removed up to a total “reversal” which meant my body would use My small intestine as a colon. It’s been a total modern miracle and I’m almost normal again after years of illness. If you need a specialized surgeon in this area, chose Dr. R. He has a fabulous team (PA and NCP) plus great associates.

After multiple bouts of diverticulitis and treatment with antibiotics, it became apparent that I needed a more permanent solution to my health problem. Both my primary care doctor and my gastroenterologist recommended that I see Dr. Rivadeneira. Although I was nervous when I went for my consultation with Dr. Rivadeneira, his calm and thorough manner of describing the colon resection procedure eased my concerns. He answered all my questions, reviewed the risks, but expressed his confidence in a good outcome. In Dec. 2019, Dr.Rivadeneira performed the robotic laparoscopic sigmoid resection on me, and the successful results were just as he described. It is now 4 weeks since my surgery, and I am feeling great. As an added bonus, Dr. Rivadeneira has wonderful assistants, particularly his PA, Marco Berrones and GNP, Shawnee Purdy, who reinforce Dr. Rivadeneira's medical advice and caring manner. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rivadeneira!

I think that Dr. Rivadeneira is a top notch Dr. He was the only local colorectal surgeon willing to perform my colon procedure back in 2017. He has been vigilant in making sure we have regular follow ups! I recommend him without question!!
