Dr. David Ring

I started out with a similar experience to other reviewers on this site. I went to Dr Ring with a hand injury that was causing me great pain and loss of use of the hand but for which there was no clear diagnosis of the cause. I was ready to do any surgery that someone would agree to in hopes of a resolution. Dr Ring took the time to study my imaging carefully and thoroughly (more so than other docutors would) and analyze it scientifically and discuss it with me. His response was that I should wait longer (it had been 1.5 years) for healing and that I should freely use the hand, depsite the pain, because my mental stress was creating a spiral and making the situation worse. I left the visit feeling like the other reviewers here - depressed and offended at the suggestion that it was in my head and ready to give up. For the next year I did almost nothing with the hand, resigned to its loss. Then one day I started to use it, remembering Dr Ring's words, and pushed through the pain. Then I started using it more and more and I found that although the injury was still there in the background the pain was not nearly as bad as it used to be and the hand was indeed usable for many things. The more I used it the better it got - although I almost can't believe that wonderful result. Now I am using the hand extensively and I am grateful for Dr Ring's advice since it appears that any surgery I would have done likely would not have corrected a real problem - the original injury just needed time to heal. It takes a lot of perserverence and strength for Dr. Ring to continue to give unpopular advice to patients, despite the negative reviews here and I am sure he gets that through other channels too. I am truly grateful to him for what I now see was the right diagnosis and right advice that he gave me.

Don’t waste your time scheduling an appointment with Dr. Ring. It was my worst Doctor visit in my whole life. He is unbelievably pompous and rude and you will be told it’s “all in your head” and he will say work through your emotional issues and you won’t have the painful issue. He will blame you for “claiming you are having pain!” Worst experience and I waited 45 minutes to get blamed for the “problem in my head!” P.S. I moved on to a different Doctor in a totally different practice and he took care of my thumb in one visit and I no longer have pain! There are much better Doctors available, so steer clear of Dr. Ring.

Dr. Ring is the worst Dr I've ever seen for a broken bone. Very unprofessional and I would suggest staying away from this phony guy

DON’T LET THE CREDENTIALS FOOL YOU! This doctor is horrible. My father tore his rotator cuff and was referred to this doctor. All he told my father is “it’s due to old age and that he has the same issue and to take Tylenol” no x-ray, no MRI, no physical test of the shoulder. He’s bought out by Workers Comp. Horrible. Prideful and doesn't answer questions. Very dismissive. Wish I never went.

Dr. Ring is above excellent, I have full use of my right ebow, it was broken in three places. I would definitely recommend him to everyone. And my one year anniversary from the break isn't for another 6 days.

Dr Ring appeared like an excellent doctor but after 1 hour of sitting in small room and listening to him be attentive to previous patient in the next room I got about 10 minutes of his time. I complained of a hand injury which I got what I wanted but my shoulder was the main problem that keeps me up at night. I thought is at least get an Xray but I guess I didn't communicate the pain level. Way too long on “touchy feely” approaches & way too short on actual experience. Had not done ANY of the surgeries which Best practices recommended for my condition and was not able to give good recs or able to discuss decision tree options. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
