Saw him for the prep for a CT scan with "contrast"because of pain in my shoulder. Dr. Birdsong, in Wexford, PA, diagnosed possible rotator cuff tear or tendonitis. This scan was to confirm the diagnosis. Dr. Oppenheim remarked after he injected the "contrast" fluid using a fluoroscope; that there was some fluid in a place that would only be there if a tendon wasn't torn... So sort of got my bad news before the CT scan, but I will wait for the "official" result from Dr. Birdsong. This scan was a reschedule of a scan scheduled at the "St. Vincent Wellness Pavilion." It had been canceled when it was determined that the procedure was not available at the Pavilion. A remarkably able and resourceful manager of the Radiology Dept. at the Wellness Center, Mary Jo Laufenberg, +- a way for me to get the procedure done ASAP at the St. Vincent Hospital. She did spectacular job!! It is not just the Docs who make a great medical center...it is often the people who are behind the curtain!!!
