Dr. David P Michelin

Dr. David Michelin is kind, gentle, compassionate and reassuring. His explanations are thorough and he does not leave the room until he makes sure the patient and family have a clear understanding. I have been thru one surgery and 6 rounds of chemo and am facing my remaining surgery with confidence with Dr. Michelin in charge. I am a critical care nurse with many years of experience and I can say with certainty that I would recommend Dr. Michelin to anyone.

Dr. Michelin has been nothing but kind, compassionate, gentle and reassuring in all my interactions with him. I had a DaVinci hysterectomy done by Dr. Michelin. I wanted the best and that is exactly what I got. He has done over 2000 robotic hysterectomies. I was up in a day and felt amazing. I wasn’t looking for a warm and fuzzy doctor but rather one highly experienced and just darn good at what he does. The complaints about his bedside manner did not matter to me and I found him to be very efficient, both with his time and mine. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner in this health care journey.

He refused to take care of my wife because she overweight and did not do any exam at all. He was rude and arrogant, unprofessional, argue with my husband and he mean to my wife so i would not recommend to see this doctor at all

Terrible!! Waited 4 hrs for surgery and after they kick you out like cattle with little to no comfort meds.. developed infections and have yet to receive any calls back from the... was told take Tylenol for sever infection tht turned to mersa now having his whole surgery re done at u of m.. definitely terrible experience all 3 were horrible Terrible!! Will NEVER GO BACK. Very rude as is his nurse whom ordered me to take Tylenol motrin in high doses with severe kidney disease. Left with more problems than what I came with. Hes is very rude unprofessional and always hours late. Very bad place. Never again.

Rude. Arrogant. Unprofessional. I was terrified that I had cancer-he gave me my first rectal exam. When I cried, he got angry because no one ever thought about how he felt having to do the exam. He railed and ranted at me all through the exam. None of the staff in the room said a thing. The surgery left me with severe internal scarring and zero sensation. I can feel nothing but mild pain. It’s been years... my intimacy issues have become huge. My marriage is suffering, and there’s nothing that can be done. I would go to a back alley hack before I let him touch me again. Rude. Dr. Michelin was referred to me by my gynecologist for a Robotic Hysterectomy. I found him very professional, direct, intelligent, and compassionate. He knows and understands his skills and experience. He laid out all the known facts of the possible outcomes both good and bad to help me make informed decisions. His staff was very helpful and caring. I felt safe and secure in their hands.

Today is 2 years since David Michelin changed my life as I knew it! I am in pain everyday all day after he perforated my bowel during a robotic hysterectomy ..I wear an abdominal binder all day everyday so I can get through my daily life...I have a VERY high tolerance of pain and after 2 years and 4 surgeries to repair his mess I can still barely stand the pain...I regret ever walking into his office. The day my husband and I met him for surgical consult we both did not like his arrogance...we should have listened to our guts...and now my GUT suffers from it constantly...i originally posted my experience on vitals.com.. .check it out for the rest of my horrifying surgical experience...18 days in the hospital for an outpatient surgery ..thank god dr seah came and saved my life and listened to me when I said something wasnt right....michelin DID NOT! I would NOT recommend Michelin to anyone..i had a robotic hysterectomy on Jan 25th, his hands and robot perforated my bowel I told him for 2 days it was the worst pain i ever had, was septic had another emergency surgery 2 days later, then opened up again and left my abdomen open for 4 months, 20 days in hospital $1000.00s of dollars of medical expenses, travel, supplies to pack the wound, lost my business of 30 years as I couldn't lift anything, and then sewed up the abdomen as it didn't heal closed on its own, and now because the wound was open so long my abdominal muscle on both sides has torn 16centimeters and I will be having another surgery at U of M and we real more months of pain and recovery, i will lose my job of 22 years in health care as i have had to use all my FMLA for the original botched surgery that was supposed to have me back to work in 14 days...you have made my life miserable for nearly a year and now probably another 6 months...hopefully U of M can fix your BOTCH! I went to Michelin for a second opinion of VIN III. His first exam was not a real exam at all, he just used the previous oncologists records. When I tried to ask him any questions he laughed in my face and said I asked the question wrong, next! He was very arrogant and not comforting at all! I left his office more confused than when I got there. He told me to my face that he takes short cuts during surgery! I felt forced into signing the paperwork for surgery and papers that said I understood what would happen, when I didn't! The day of surgery I tried to ask him about after surgery care that I read in the patient portal because I didn't understand and he laughed at me again and said that didn't mean anything! Excellent care!! I would recommend him to anyone

He was probably the rudest doctor I've ever met. I didn't have him as a physician but was at the hospital with a relative and happened to ask a question after surgery. He was rude and treated me like a 4 year old. I'm sure he's a good doctor but he could be a little more human with less ego. We were all concerned about our relative, but he didn't seem to have any empathy for the family.

He’s an amazing surgeon he did my total hysterectomy 2 years ago and I haven’t had any problems he also told me to go see a dermatologist I had thought the 2 areas were age spot that I had on my face but he saw different and he was correct in telling me to go I had skin cancer thank you for everything Dr Michelin

My confidence level in Dr. Michelin is 1001%. He displayed professional behavior in the office and in performing my surgery. He listened to, and addressed, my concerns with care. He is straightforward yet extremely gentle. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to feel secure and safe in their choice of surgeons and staff. I could not be more pleased and honored to have made his acquaintance and give a strong and positive recommendation to a compassionate and highly skilled physician.

Dr.Michelin is very compassionate but very blunt, he will not sugarcoat anything concerning your surgery and will do what's best for you. My health was a real complicated mess...Dr. Michelin saved my life, he gave me a new lease on life. I would highly recomend him.

This Doctor was awful. I waited over 45 minutes to see him. He was completely arrogant and when I had questions he didn't want to answer he decided that I needed to find a new doctor.

He was very compassionate but also very upfront, which i appreciate. Explained extremely well what was going on. He spent a lot of time on my case and even went above and beyond to get other opinions. His staff is awesome and let me drive them nuts with a million quesions during each visit, since i was pretty scared. I totally trust him with my life and may not be alive today if I hadn't of had him.
