Dr. David B Mayo

Dr Mayo replaced my knee, 20+ years ago. I’ve never had an issue and have worked as an RN in the OR for 15 years, on my feet. I highly recommend him!

Thought this Surgeon was a great doctor until he scheduled our mom for surgery never showed up after many hours went by so we decided to leave after many hours of not hearing from him because our 77 year old mom had not eaten anything in almost 24 hours. To top it all off his Anesthesiology said our mom was not cleared for surgery and did not feel comfortable putting our mom under. We called and left Dr. Mayo messages for days he finally returned our call days later to tell our mom to find another Doctor because we left and he refuses to believe his anesthesiologist stated that “he did not feel comfortable putting our mom under because she had not been cleared for this knee surgery. “ Dr. Mayo performed a knee surgery on our mom years ago and did a good job that’s why we came back to him for this surgery. I can’t believe he told my 77 year old mom to find a new Doctor because we left! Shame on you Dr. Mayo shame on you!

Doctor. David B. Mayo, Is a Fantastic orthopedic surgeon he listens to you, as well as you listen to him. so you'll have a great understanding, From Doctor. Mayo point of view . And he will offer you different options on whatever you're going through as a patient. Doctor. Mayo Is a fantastic orthopedic surgeon.

Excellent care. Dr Mayo is warm, considerate, and professional. His diagnosis made perfect sense and his plan for reducing pain and increasing mobility was thoughtful and helpful.

Dr Mayo is a very good surgeon. He spends a lot of time with his patients and that’s probably why he has such a long wait sometimes. He is very matter of fact, that’s what I like about him. He knows what he’s talking about and is very thorough. Once you get to know him, he is a warm caring person. I have had 6 hip replacements due to recalls and no fault of any doctor. Three of them were with Mayo. I have had metallosis, an infection, dislocations and blood clots. He has been awesome through all of it. I won’t go anywhere else! I visited several orthopedics before I found Dr Mayo, he is one of the best! I would much rather have a great surgeon and wait in the office for a while, than have some person chopping me up who has a great personality. Just my opinion. Dr Mayo is a very good surgeon. Dr Mayo is a great surgeon I would recommend him he did my husbands hip replacement. Prior to his surgery his staff got him very prepared for his surgery we had classes to take videos to watch he walked out of the surgical center the same day he went in I would highly recommend Michigan orthopedics and Dr.Mayo.

Dr. Mayo and his staff are phenomenal. I had a total knee replacement six weeks ago at UnaSource Surgery Center. The staff had me up and walking hours after surgery. I cannot believe how rapidly I am recovering. It will be months before I can perform the activities that I long to do. Believe me patience is a virtue. I would highly recommend Dr. Mayo to others with knee issues. This has been a truly great experience for me and am glad I chose Dr. Mayo.

Love Dr Mayo!???? I got a full knee replacement on 1/2020. Literally right before the pandemic hit. He is professional, timely, informative and thorough. He came highly recommended. I am so grateful I found him. THANK YOU Dr Mayo.

Dr. Mayo has been nothing more than amazing and willing to help me and not have to wait forever to have surgery on my hip I had reconstruction of my left hip done and was up and walking next morning. Thank you again now to fix the right and I’ll be brand new!!!

I waited over an hour in the room for the doctor. No reason given. Dr was rude and failed explain what my alternatives were.

I had Total Hip Replacement of both hips, two months apart, by Dr. Mayo in 2019. I could not be more pleased with the results. My pain is gone. My mobility is back. I am independent again. My recovery was far quicker than I expected. We found his approach to be candid, kind, and science-based. He didn't waste our time, mislead us, or talk down to us. My wife was very pleased with Dr. Mayo's post-op briefings in the Beaumont waiting room while I was under sedation.

Very nice dr and takes time to find out whats going on.

Similar to other 1 star reviews, I had to wait over an hour, and ended up leaving his office. I did not have chance to see Dr. Mayo. I wish insurance companies could penalize Doctors whom cannot manage their scheduling. I have asked the receptionist not to charge me for no show. I am eagerly waiting for hospital survey. I assumed if Dr. Mayo cared about this tardiness, he would have called me to apologize, but it did not happen and I am more than happy to see someone else. I am just disappointed wasting 2 hours (driving, waiting, processed) of my life where I will never get back. The best! These one star ratings are from those that couldn’t get pain meds, because Dr. Mayo does everything he can to avoid getting a person hooked on that garbage. It’s worth the wait if you are legitimately suffering. He has been my doctor for almost 9 years. I am a rare case and had my first hip replacement in my early twenties. NO other doctor was capable of handling my condition. Dr. Mayo explains EVERYTHING. He has not once been in a hurry. Professional at all times. The best! My appointment was at 8:15 I got there at 8:05. They called me to the back to stop about 8:25. No biggie...well at 8:55 I have yet to see the doctor. This is so ridiculous to me and inconsiderate.

Im not so sure how these total knee replacement surgeries are suppose to go but within 3 days after my surgery, i WAS WALKING WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF AID. Dr. Mayo is moreso a “to the point” doctor and thats where some people think his bed side manor isnt that good but dont we ALL in our own way, want to “cut to the chase” and get to the point about things? While iv been going through PT from this surgery, iv spoken to several therapists (PT THERAPISTS) Every single one has said out of the hundreds and thousands of people they see a year, it is their opinion that the quicker your able to recover from ANY SURGERY, literally means THE BETTER THE DOCTOR. They are schocked to see my recovery. I am a VERY SKEPTICAL PERSON when it comes to surgery, do to a few others that have gone bad. I can tell you that he will be doing other surgeries with me in the future. I am not a friend or known associate of doctor mayo but i can only express how i feel about his ability to perform surgeries and share my personal experience. I have known him a long time and the injection he put into my hip saved me from surgery. I think he is a genius and a very kind gentleman

Dr. Mayo goes above and beyond for his patients. He was my surgeon while I had cancer and was experiencing rare side effects from chemotherapy and steroid treatments at the age of 17. We ended up moving to Tennessee a few years later and traveled up to Michigan for my bilateral hip replacement surgery because my family and I knew Dr. Mayo was the doctor to see for excellent orthopaedic care. I would recommend Dr. Mayo to all of my family and friends. Dr. Mayo goes above and beyond for his patients. Dr. Mayo is an exceptional person and physician. I have seen him many times for various problems and he was professional, kind, and helped me every time I saw him without doing invasive surgery. He is the kind of surgeon who actually wants to avoid surgery if at all possible because there are always dangers inherent in any surgery. This is rare and wise. He certainly honors the oath he took to " To do no harm" but still try and heal the patient. He should have 10 stars. Dr. Mayo is an exceptional person and physician. Horrible bedside manor! Was very quick to jump into stating surgery was the only option and didn't even want to consider trying PT or injections first. Would never go back.

I love Dr Mayo, he saved my life...and made my life better. Very kind.

My wife has bi-polar depression over weight and has pulmonary issues along with bad arthritis in both knees for 15 years. We went to his office they took x-rays of both knees and when he came into the office he spent literally 5 minutes talking to us saying I cant help you unless you help yourself and if you were to do this you will DIE on the table and walked out and said have a nice day!!! Not a great way to treat someone the first time that has depression!!! She wanted to die after we left!!!

Dr. Mayo recently performed total hip replacement surgery using the anterior approach. Surgery was done outpatient at a local surgery center. Dr. Mayo and the entire team were fabulous. I have a wonderful result. I'm very glad I chose to treat with Dr. Mayo. I would not hesitate to recommend him to those considering hip or knee replacement surgery.

I wouldn't send ANYONE I love to Mayo! He is NOT professional and will take his bad day out on you. He has ZERO bedside manner and DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANY OATH TO HELP OTHERS!! RUN!!!!!

I had a total hip replacement on the right side and a core decompression and bone graft on the left. Had them both done at the same time, I was walking with a walker the night of surgery and recovery was pretty quick considering. He did a great job and answered all of my questions very well.

Dr. Mayo was insensitive to my wife and her condition, didn't even mention the reason why we were there, waited 2 1/2 hours just to get to see him, gave us canned answers to any questions or concerns we had, before we knew it, he had his hand on the door knob, ready to go, we felt we were getting the Bum's Rush. I had a really good experience with Dr Mayo and so did my husband ,< a Medical Doctor >who had 2 knees replaced .. I will return, to Dr Mayo, and have him replace my other knee this summer !!

In 2008, I had a bilateral hip replacement (I was 58) with excellent results, fast recovery and no noticeable height variation or limp following. No nonsense physician with excellent knowledge and operational skills.

Dr. Mayo and his staff are phenomenal! I was up walking the same day I had a hip replacement. 2 months later, no complications, no more pain in my hip, I'm back out driving, and so happy I had this Doctor for my procedure.

I had my hip replaced by Dr. Mayo through the Joint Express at Beaumont. Absolutely great experience and tremendous doctor! Would highly recommend.

Dr. Mayo performed total hip replacements on both of my legs 6 weeks part... He was awesome.. His team really did a great job in all aspects leading up to surgery and soon after... Very good doctor... I'm one day post op on my left hip and in some pain but happy with the care from dr. Mayo and his team

I participated in the "Joint Express Program" with Dr. Mayo. Had an excellent experience in this program. Joint Express is an outpatient surgery for total knee replacement that allows the patient to go home the same day of the surgery. The Joint Express is a very well organized program that educates the patient prior to surgery and prepares them for going home the same day of the surgery. Dr. Mayo's staff is friendly, organized and easy to work with.

Dr Mayo had no idea why we where even there to see him at first. He then never listened to either my wife or myself. He makes assumptions and jumps to conclusions. He then changes his story and writes up visit summary that show a complete disconnect from reality. He showed no concern for his exam that increased my pain and then told me my condition was from something I have never taken and that it could not cause pain.
