Sorry to be a bore ya’ll, but here it is…yet another 5-star review for Dr. Lans. I know, I know, based on the dozens of other reviews, it is old news already, but still, I gotta give credit where it is due -- Dr. Lans is absolutely one of the best doctors I have ever seen; he is knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and truly present for his patients. About half a year ago, I got some scary lab results that suggested I was at risk for an autoimmune disease. Searching for answers, and ways to preserve my health, I saw a GP, a traditional rheumatologist, a longevity specialist, and one of Manhattan’s most acclaimed functional medicine doctors. 15 minutes into a telehealth appointment with Dr. Lans and I knew my quest to find an advocate and guide were over. Dr. Lans really listened to me. He gave me constructive suggestions without being pushy. When I presented my thoughts and research on diet, drugs and lifestyle, he took a balanced perspective –open-mindedly helping me weigh the pros and cons of my options. Most critically, after countless visits with other docs that had left me feeling overwhelmed and confused, I left my first visit with Dr. Land feeling empowered in my health. As of my most recent visit, my labs are looking overall good and I feel great. Of course, I don’t know what the future will bring. But I sure do sleep a whole lot better knowing that whatever happens, I have a doctor like Dr. Lans in my corner. Thank you Dr Lans! With tremendous pleasure I recommend Dr Lans. I came to him because of his intergrative approach in dealing with auto immune disorders. He really knows his stuff....Up on all the current information . Very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable about discussing options. On top of that he confirmed that we do have the power to really affect our health by the life choices that we make. He is very available and interested in you as a patient. I'm an old patient of Dr. Lans. More than 25 years ago or so. I was gravely ill with Lupus at that time and within a year my Lupus was in remission, haven't seen it since. That was at the beginning of his career so I have no doubt know that he is the best in his field. Not only was he intelligent. but his dedication to his patients cannot go unrecognized. Dr. Lans is an AMAZING and very caring Doctor. I live in California and heard about him through a blog I read on the internet. I contacted his office and scheduled a zoom appointment with him to talk about my active RA. I sent him all of my blood work test via email before the appointment. Dr. Lans spent over an hour with me discussing my questions and concerns. He was so caring and gave me great recommendations. However what I was most impressed with and continue to be impressed with is his continued email exchange with me. I have sent him about 4 emails after my initial appointment just a couple months ago and he answers each one back within 48 hours and he just doesn’t send a 2 line email. He takes his time and answers ever question I have. I wish I lived closer or he practiced in Northern California. I would definitely recommend my friends and so wish I can meet with him in person. Dr. Lans was recommended to me by an orthopedist. I'm so glad I went to see him. He is such a caring and thorough doctor. He spends time with you to really understand your symptoms and history and has a genuine sense of care. You won't feel rushed at all. He helped me to understand what he thinks is contributing to some chronic joint issues and has made me feel like I will have options for pain relief in the future if I have flare ups. Dr. Lans is the most caring, kind, intelligent, and knowledgeable doctor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I came to him after a few bad experiences with rheumatologists with not much bedside manner and with whom I felt dismissed. At my first visit, his warm demeanor put me at ease immediately. He proceeded to take a lot of time to get to know me and my history—which is basically unheard of in this day and age—and showed compassion for my health struggles and challenges. He then shared lots of in-depth research about my conditions and the available treatments, much of which I hadn’t heard before. Dr. Lans, unlike many doctors, stays up to date on emerging research as well as integrative treatments that complement traditional medical care, which means his patients have more options. He is not only a doctor, he is also an educator. He explains highly complex ideas in an understandable way. Another thing I appreciate is that he never pushes or forces any treatments—he only presents options, their consequences, and allows the patient to decide, while explaining that he fully supports you. I have never met a doctor who cares so much about his patients’ comfort level. Every visit, I leave feeling heard, optimistic, and armed with more knowledge and information. Where do I begin about how amazing of a doctor Dr. Lans is? I went to see him after struggling with 7 years of chronic pain and 2 years of chronic symptoms. He was the first doctor to ever spend the time and truly listen to me, while actively continuing to determine what was causing my symptoms. Dr David Lans is a compassionate, attentive physician that will work like a detective to figure out the best way to approach your care. His knowledge is broad, and he is continually adding to it. He explains thoroughly and follows through fully. His nurse Helena, and Susan in the front office, have been with him during the ten plus years I've been going to Dr Lans, and both are equally caring and make coming to the doctor as pleasant an experience as it can be! Susan is great at getting insurance approval for sometimes difficult to get approved medications. Sometimes there is a wait, but it’s because Dr Lans spends the time you need without ever feeling rushed, so plan ahead. You will also get his full attention, and the time and care you need. You will never find a kinder more respectful, professional and down-to-earth doctor! I have been seeing Dr. Lan’s for over two years now for bio-identical hormone therapy and I am here to say Dr. Lans literally saved my life and saved my marriage! Without bio identical I don’t know where I’d be today, all the many symptoms I was experiencing because of menopause have all simply disappeared and disappeared within the first month of starting the program. Dr. Lans And his staff has been the best of the best When it comes to Bio-identical hormone therapy I recommend him to everybody, happily!!??

Went for rheumatology consult; he suggested hormones. I tried them. I went back, but I was still in a lot of pain. Turns out another doctor diagnosed me immediately. I have spondyloarthropathy, and I'm now taking meds that actually help. I spent time and money, and he was not able to help me. Disappointing - especially since he doesn't accept my insurance. I think he's good if you want hormone therapy, but I'm not sure how he missed spondyloaropathy. Went for rheumatology consult; he suggested hormones. I tried them. Highly recommend Dr. Lans. He is an excellent listener and very knowledgeable about medical and alternative treatments. I felt I was in good hands of a master health professional. I especially liked that Dr. Lans believes in healing and not just treatment.

Dr. Lans is a rare breed. He is knowledgeable with current therapies, meds, vitamins, holistic approaches, etc. He takes time to listen and is eager to help. He cares about me on a personal level. I have worked in the medical field many years with doctors & have sought help from numerous specialists in my own search for treatment of lupus, Sjogren's, depression and thyroid problems. I have never met any doctor as caring and compassionate. I highly recommend to anyone seeking a rheumatologist!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful and professional Dr. David Lans is. I have been having trouble with my ankle since last November. In that time I have had three MRI’s and been to four different doctors. The last option was to have surgery. I was referred to Dr. Lans and traveled to New York to have a stem cell procedure done. Dr. Lans explained to me every step of the way what was going to happen and what I would be feeling and helped me to relax, since I was a little nervous as to what “stem cell” was. After the treatment, it took a couple of weeks to really start feeling better. It has now been three months and I am NOT in pain anymore. I am the happiest that I didn’t do the surgery and went with Dr. Lans. It will still take a little more time for my ankle to be back to normal but I am well on my way. THANK YOU DR. Across the 16+ years during which Dr. Lans provided primary care as well as specific treatments for me, I came to understand, respect and appreciate what I am certain is only a small part of the considerable breadth and scope he brings to the task. Where medicine is a blend of science and art, he brings the best in command of broad knowledge and distills practical wisdom and insight from clinical experience, and from my observation his thinking and judgement are not bound by convention or other potentially limiting factors. Where the intricacies of forces including governmental regulation, politics and more often enter in the form of unwelcome intrusion into the doctor-patient relationship, he stands in my view as an unparalleled patient advocate first. Dr. Lans always spent as much time with me as suited my needs, if not those of his practice. His long-time staff made whatever was required happen expeditiously and pleasantly. The understatement in that is more telling of excellence than extra words I would spend describing; true heroes are more often unsung and unrecognized in the background when complex things are running smoothly and effortlessly. This does not read like a typical physician review. That is because in the course of caring for our child with extraordinary needs and for aging parents, also with an array of mild to high-management and intensive needs, my spouse and I became involved with many physicians across many specialties over the years. It is inevitable that to increasingly educated patient/advocate consumers of medical services, an awareness of qualitative characteristics develops even when the point is not direct comparison amongst services or the providers. Thus, I think my evaluation is fair and balanced. I like to think Dr. Lans might be surprised to know that I hold this opinion because it wasn't transmitted during the course of our doctor-patient relationship (I've relocated out of state), and it was more typical for me to question or be (politely enough, I hope!) critical of conventions, realities or a status-quo that I disagreed with or found to come up short. More often than not, that didn't relate directly to me but to someone to whom I was closely attached; thus, this aspect was limited in our contact but in hindsight, it added to my view of Dr. Lans as a physician in practice.
