Dr. David A Kvam

After suffering for 7 days terrible hip and back pain and not getting the relief I needed from a first doctor (who is excellent in his field) I remembered seeing Dr. Kvam years ago for similar pain. In 2 hours after seeing him the pain subsided, I went off pain pills and 2 other prescriptions. I can't say enough about his abilities to understand and solve my problem. P.S I can go on vacation now. Thank you Dr. Kvam.

Dr. K am literally saved my life in 2010. Ironically, he performed a surgery on my lower back in 2008 and happened to be on call when I entered the ER in 2010. This man not only saved me but spoke with my family directly about the options and the potential outcomes. Would love to see this man again to thank him.

The nurses were super professional, very short wait times. Doctor Kvam also very professional but constrained by the insurance companies' policies. I need an MRI to view a recent back injury but Cigna will not approve and X-rays don't show enough detail. Therefore, Dr. Kvam is in a position to where he can only prescribe meds and physical therapy. Not his fault, but there must be a way to get proper imaging when patient is in agonizing pain. I recently saw Dr Kvam in relation to pain in my right hand that my rheumatologist and I attributed to degenerative discs in my neck. Before I saw him I had an MRI. The reason I had chosen Dr. Kvam is because He performed surgery on me back in 2011 that other physicians did not want to try. Thirty minutes after after waking up followingmy surgery back in 2011 I was up and walking around the hallways in the hospital. Was the first time I walked pain-free in 8 weeks. Fast forward to 2020 Dr. Kvam reviewed my MRI. He noted disc degeneration in my neck but said the specific symptoms I'm having seemed to him more like a carpal tunnel and he referred me to a neurologist for a nerve conduction study. Sure enough, I have severe carpal tunnel in my right hand which I need to deal with. This man saved my life back in 2011. He also turned away my brother saying physical therapy was the answer to his problems and he turned away another friend with the same response. Two months later my friend went back to him saying that the pain was worse. Following additional x-rays Dr Kvam told her she should go see an oncologist right away. Long story short, she was subsequently diagnosed with third stage lung cancer. She feels that Dr Kvam saved her the. Dr Kvam and all his staff in the office have been great!!

Dr. Kvam is a thoughtful and skilled surgeon. He readily spends the time with his patients, explains the procedures in detail, and is just as present in the postoperative period. I highly recommend him.

Dr. David Kwam performed my Anterior Cervical Dissection and Fusion (ACDF) surgery at C 6-7 on September 21, 2018. (I had originally been diagnosed by an orthopedic surgeon, but I elected to go with a neurosurgeon for such a potentially delicate and tricky surgery instead and chose Dr. Kwam after consulting with four other surgeons.) I work in a Hazardous Duty job and they told me to plan on being on for three months, to be safe. However, everything healed so quickly and so well that I was back to work one month to the day after my surgery. After a couple months of lingering neuropathic sensations, everything subsided. I've been 100% since the start of the new year. Highly recommend Dr. Kwam and his team at Neurosurgeons of Central CT.

Dr. Kvam operated on my significant other after he attempted suicide and shot shot a nail into his head with a nail gun. Dr. Kvam is a very kind and compassionate soul. If I could give him 10 stars I would. My significant other is doing well thanks to the skills of this doctor.

I have had cervical spine (C4-C5) and lumbar spine (L5-S1) surgeries performed by Dr. Kvam. He is a very compassionate and well respected medical provider. I would recommend him highly.

Great Doctor who is kind after almost 11 years after Yale said I had a brain tumor. Still here, and the "brain tumor" may still not be one. To think that Yale wanted to do surgery. Thank God I found Dr. Kvam! Straight shooter and I appreciate that.

Dr. Kvam gave reassurance of 97 % recovery for a loved one for brain tumor surgery. However during surgery a Main Artery that feeds the brain was severed by this Dr. and a major bleed proceeded. This caused permanent brain damage and she would need to be on life support the rest of her life with no hope of recovery. The family call was to take her off life support as this was the most humane way to end her life. Dr. Kvam chose to take the weekend off and let his partner explain this prognosis.

Dr. Kvam operated and removed a very large brain tumor from me in 2009. He was incredibly skilled as it was a difficult removal. His assistant, Mr. Dawson was meticulous in his preparation and follow up also. Dr. Kvam was at all times compassionate, caring, and available. He communicated with my husband every morning after surgery, which was wonderful. He follows up with me as needed and I continue to do well. No disrespect but in my opinion he is close to "walking on water".

I would not recommend Dr. Kvam to anyone. I went in with great pain in my back and in my leg. My back has been bad for many years and I tried everything prior to this appointment. My leg hurts so much I can't sleep at night. He told me I had no pinched nerve. He also said I would just have to live with my pain forever and that was sad. He didn't even give me any other possibility of what it could be to cause so much radiating pain in my leg. I felt like I had no hope left at all.
