David Hakimian

I have been seeing Dr. Hakimian since 2000. My breast cancer was diagnosed very early and I still see him once a year for a checkup. I feel very comfortable seeing him. I would recommend him to anyone for their oncologist. And I never have to wait very long to see him.

Update: 2/5/22 Drs. Hakimian and Klein, Illinois Cancer Specialists, actually saved my life. In Sep't 20, when I was diagnosed, I had lost over 40 lbs, 180 to 140, spent 20 hours of day in bed, and used a walker. Since then, I have had a stem cell transplant at Lutheran General using my own stem cells and am on various medicines. My weight is back to 165, and I enjoy all activities. Multiple myeloma is not curable at this time, but through my regimens, I expect to live for a long time. I owe a lot to these doctors.

My cousin passed away four years ago after dealing with cancer for a relatively short period. She left two young children behind. I accompanied her to her first visit at Illinois Cancer Specialists. I am an RN working at a major medical center and have to say I have never encountered an MD with a worse bedside manner. He treated my cousin rudely, badgered her to answer questions while she sat in his office bald and crying with a nephrostomy bag hanging out of her back. She was so intimidated by his condescending attitude. I have always meant to speak out about his terrible treatment of a woman who was suffering and died shortly after this. We buried our uncle this week and that reminded me to take the time to say this MD needs to learn how to treat his patients with some patience and kindness. Dr. Hakimian saved my life. My Primary Dr. gave me his name for a second opinion. Dr. Hakimian and his chemo staff are second to none. Dr. Hakimian changed some of my prescriptions with outstanding results.
