I left him a review before, and I see that the page has been re-edited. As a professional working on people's mental health, I expect him to take proper criticism as a way to know what to improve and to accept his mistakes; not hide bad reviews for the sake of future clients. Otherwise, I'll keep posting. Dr. Gill has a great reputation, but from what I saw, he doesn't evaluate a person consistently. He jumps right into it before taking the time to learn a person's history. He dropped the medication I was previously on, and put me on four new ones; almost five. No one, not even an expert, should act that confident when dealing with someone's mental health. I felt he was very narrow-minded when I told him that two psychiatrists said that the medication I was previously on was good medication for what I have, but he said, 'I'm a third psychiatrist. I don't like it.' I shouldn't have agreed. I got very sedated, I got intense emotions, I had sexual dysfunction, and I was thinking waaaay too much. I like the staff at Heywood, but I am really disappointed that they never questioned the fact that not everyone needs that much medication. I get that it's a standard thing, but what works for some does not work for all. It is a false way of promoting, because people on the autism spectrum are more open to the side effects. I was thinking on self harm, and things got really, really bad. Later on, when I was at the hospital, a nurse recognized Dr. Gill being the one who prescribed me because of the medication I was on. Is this what he prescribes to all? That doesn't work. There is no such thing as a good medication for all. It varies for each individual. Eventually, I found a much more open psychiatrist who specializes in autism, and when he learned about my history, he was the first doctor to say, 'He shouldn't be on all that medication. He needs to get out into the world.' So basically, I was very disappointed, and now I have a lot of trust issues when it comes to doctors. I even made a video on YouTube explaining this experience. We, as a society, need to be more open and not act like we know the answers. More pride comes from an expert than anyone else.

My relative is in the Heywood Adult Mental Health Unit and along with 'their' mental/emotional problems most of the medication has been making 'them' sick to 'their' stomach. In treatment they try various things, of course. Finally the stomach pain has become so bad, to where they're not eating but only drinking seltzer water, they asked a nurse if they could get an appointment to see a gastroenterologist, thinking perhaps it's an ulcer, IBS, or some kind of colitis. The nurse denied them and replied, "You're in the psych unit, this isn't one stop shopping." I don't know who this "nurse" is but her remarks are offensive, hostile, and 1000% unprofessional (not to mention unkind, inhumane and I'm guessing probably illegal). And from what I read on the unit's homepage, also completely contrary to the treatment philosophy and protocol of Dr. Gill and his staff. I am incensed. I will be making phone calls and visiting this ward tomorrow. This is a close relative of mine and even if that nurse doesn't give a hoot about 'them,' I do. I will try to post a follow up review after speaking with staff about this issue. I hope I have something more positive to report. Other than this I feel their care and treatment has been average, nothing to stand up and cheer about but better than nothing. He is an amazing doctor. He really cares about his patients and does whatever he can to help you. Greatest doctor I have ever met!!! I recommend anyone see him. He worked hard with me in figuring out what kind of meds would help and what my diagnosis's were. Actually listens and knows what he is doing if i could see him everyday I would he helped me so much I couldn't thank him enough for being so understanding caring and kind worked hard at making me feel comfortable when I was out of my skin

Dr Gill is praised in the community as a great psychiatrist! My experience with him was far from great! He is definitely past his sell by date and so is the Heywood inpatient unit. You are made to feel less than human and the treatment is sub par Stay away

He misdiagnoses me as mental illnesses. He told me he observe me in 2 1/2 minutes that is impossible. He gave me too much medication and kept changing the diagnose. I was so zombie and went crazy for 15 years. I haven't touch any psy meds with my other Doctor took me off. I felt great then I got Tardive dyskinesia from clozaril. There are no cure for it. He never warn me about Tardive Dyskinesia. He said a dirty word at me and you can't get Tardive dyskinesia from clozaril. He told me he will call Madison Hospital in Boston. He never came back. He have hurt lots people. I wouldn't work with him at all. People at hospital love him , because he help bring people back to hospital again and again. That how hospital make money. I don't trust him at all. He is bad news. I called him medicine pushers.

Dr. David H. gill spent many years as i was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder that involved mostly Mani and dysphoric mania, he never gave up on me, encouraged me to use the tools i learned while hospitalized and in my daily life. Today i am barely on many medications, can see when mania is approaching me, and haven't been hospitalized in quite some time, many many years.
