I saw Dr. David Dowling about my years-long struggle with neck and shoulder pain. He had been referred to me by Dr. David Deneka, my shoulder surgeon, who, the previous week, had ruled out my shoulder as the cause of my pain. As soon as Dr. Dowling and an assistant entered the exam room, I requested that my recorded be pulled up. I wanted him to see the many times I had been to see another non-surgeon associate at OrthoSouth over the years for cortisone injections, prescriptions, and physical therapy. I waited as the doctor was silent and the young assistant stood as his portable computer. Ten to fifteen seconds of silence later, I said, "I guess he's not looking up my records." I informed Dr. Dowling that I go to the gym every day for 1-2 hours, performing yoga, cardio, and extreme stretches, and that some of what I do there can cause me pain. I showed Dr. Dowling photos of my extreme stretches and was embarrassed by his lack of interest. My abilities are particularly unusual for a person of my age and should be reviewed and considered by my back doctor. He ordered an MRI, which has been completed and I receive my diagnosis next week. I hope he pays better attention to my unique abilities and needs, and my RECORDS (!) before cutting into me. Perhaps all I needed at that juncture was an order for an MRI. I got that. Everyone @ Ortho South is helpful and caring. Dr. Dowling and his team listened as I described symptoms and then proceeded to diagnosis and treatment. I am well on the way to recovery.

Dr. Dowling treated me for muscle spasms and provided great care and understood what treatment was required. I’ve been an OrthoSouth patient for years now and don’t have any complaints about the services or medical professionals that have treated me! Everyone is awesome!

Great customer service

Dr. Dowling was the 4th doctor I have seen at OrthoSouth (the first for my back issues), and, like the others, was very impressive during my initial consultation. He listened to my concerns, asked a lot of questions, took X-rays, and then laid out the various options. He also suggested that an MRI be done, to get a better understanding of the scope of the issues. On a follow-up visit, he explained how two of the possible medical procedures would work, what I could expect in the way of relief, and left it up to me to decide what I felt would work best, given my schedule. I currently have an appointment in less than a week to undergo an epidural for the lower back pain I have been experiencing, and feel confident that I have made the correct choice of procedure and physician. I would recommend Dr. Dowling to anyone suffering from lower back issues. My husband has several back problems. Dr. Dowling is always helpful in diagnosing the issue and devising a treatment plan to ease his pain. Dr. Dowling is sincerely interested in his patients' problems and will focus on solutions. If we could choose a number rating, it would definitely be a 10.

My experience with Dr. Dowling was very helpful. He took time to explain the pain I was feeling, and gave honest suggestions. He helped me understand the before and after of the choices I had to heal properly. He and his assistant worked diligently throughout my healing process.

So thankful that Dr. Dowling was able to know what to do about my torn tendon and help to keep it from not hurting as bad.

He explained everything well

He is patient and knowledgeable about every Insurance. He offers advice and support.

Dr. Dowling and the OrthoSouth Team are excellent. There are never any delays in appointments, service, or obtaining information about your health or condition. I would recommend them for any orthopedic needs.

My visit was fine I was already so afraid and my anxiety was in overdrive. The nurses and Dr Dowling put me at ease.

My visit with Dr Dowling was a wasted trip, I’ve never met with a physician who obviously was totally disinterested & uncaring. He blew me off in about 10 minutes, I guess when he determined that I was not a candidate for surgery. I read where he dealt with problems of “muscles, tendons, ligaments”. WRONG. He only prescribed a short term fix, no ideas or suggestions for an ongoing problem that causes excruciating pain. Didn’t listen, didn’t care. Am sure his bill will be enormous and he certainly didn’t earn even $10.00. I’ll never be back- guess he’s glad of that..

The sign in process is a circus. It took 45 minutes to sign in for an appointment. Only to be seen 5 minutes by the doctor. My appt was on 11/16, I was scheduled for a nerve block. I haven't had that yet. Ive inquired to no avail, was told they are working on the best facility for me to go to due to my insurance. Dr. Dowling is the best ever. Prior to seeing Dr. Dowling, I was in a lot of pain without receiving the desired assistance. Dr. Dowling knew exactly what my condition required, treating and explaining my issues providing relief in a matter of days. I was thoroughly impressed! Also, his assistant Hannah, is simply a delight. You never seem rushed when speaking with her, she listens so patiently. Going the extra mile to assist is completely natural. Was in a huge amount of pain when I went to see Dr. Dowling, but he still managed to put my mind at ease that I was in great hands. Chatted about symptoms/problems first, did some tests and x-rays, then clearly and kindly explained what was going on and what the next steps were. My previous doctor from the same clinic moved out of out the area. So, this was my first meeting with Dr. Dowling. He was personable and took the time to explain what he saw in my CT scan and records and started me on a new prescription. I never felt he was rushed and he answered all of my questions. Excellent first meeting.

Delores, Dr Dowling's Asst, has always been very knowledgeable, kind, caring & understanding. She's always returned my phone calls, answered my questions and been very understanding. and sympathetic to my medical problems. She has a great bedside manner and shows she truly cares about my well being. I had a virus and had to request my nerve block be rescheduled. She handled everything expeditiously and was so helpful. She's good people and it shows in her pleasant personality and caring attitude. She's a tremendous asset to OrthoSouth and most importantly to patients like myself. Dr. Dowling, nurses, radiologist at Ortho South were very professional and attentive to patients. The location of their offices and the surgery center are ideal for anyone in the area. I highly recommend that anyone in need of Orthopedic services use them.

Dr. Dowlings is a very empathetic doctor. He did not dismiss me as others have. He did not in any way downsize my complaint because he understood and listened to me. He has treated me with fairness and understanding.

Dr. Dowling was very attentive. He knew quickly upon exam and x-rays what was causing my back pain and took the time to explain the plan to get me pain free again. No rush to surgery. Office was able to work me in same day. Highly recommended
