If there was a way to give zero I would so bad people and I paid the bill frist time going was a old place they come back to me 6 months later and said i need to more money after I paid 90 and the insurance paid the 292 wow over price frist as I just need a crown to get Cemented

I've been seeing Dr Carothers and his staff for many years now. They are so caring and great at what they do, I make the drive across the river to see them every time. I have a very high level of trust in them and am always confident my dental care is in the right hands.

Dr. Dave, Dina, and the rest of the staff are always so nice. I have really bad teeth and have always felt embarassed going to the dentist. However, the staff at this dentistry have never made me feel bad about my teeth. They're always so quick, but also thorough. I had tooth pain the past week and they communicated and were able to work with me so well and squeeze me in a couple of times until the problem was resolved. Dr. Dave and his staff are exceptional. I have been a patient for about 10 years, and have had a great experience every visit. When I first became a patient I hadn't been to the dentist in too many years. Nobody made me feel bad or embarrassed about the condition of my teeth and gums. They just wanted to give me the best care and set me up for long-term health. Most recently I had my regular cleaning and a cavity filled on two separate occasions. I had a toothache, and Dr. Dave determined that I needed a root canal. I didn't relish the idea, but I was willing to do whatever it took to handle this pain. To start with, I HATE shots. Well, the shot to numb me was painless! I mean, I never felt any pain! Go figure. Now it was time for the dreaded root canal, which I knew would hurt. Nope! No pain! And it was over and done within maybe a half an hour. No fuss, no muss. And off I went, already feeling MUCH better. Today I hardly know I had a problem at all, much less a root canal yesterday! On May 16, 2019 I had my routine exam and cleaning plus dental work all in one long extended appointment. Dr. Carothers kindly allows this as I drive over 100 miles to come to see him!!! Thank you Dr. Carothers!!! I love getting all I need done in one long appointment so I only need one trip. The "dental work" consisted of repairing my two front teeth. I was worried about three things: 1) I have heart issues and am in atrial fibriation and heart failure. I was worried I might go into a rapid rate or worse, as I did that in 2010 at a different dentist... 2) I was worried about how my two front teeth would hold up under repeat work. Dr. Carothers would be repairing the less than good work of another dentist. With my damaged enamel and black lines in my two front teeth I had been loath to smile for many months. That had had a negative effect on my overall life .... 3) I had some concern about the pain I might have with my very sensitive two front teeth...I knew I could not take the local anesthetic that contains adrenalin, because of my heart issues and did not know my options.... So this is a "5-STAR" rating for Dr. Carothers!!! All of my fears proved groundless!!! Dr. Carothers was so very gentle and METICULOUS in his prep of my two front teeth!!! He took his time and his relaxed attitude relaxed me. I truely did NOT feel the needle for the injection!!! I am sooooo happy with the final outcome!!! I can smile now without embarrassment!!! This is hands down the best dental office in Portland. I came to see Dr Carothers after a filling job went wrong at another clinic. I was also told by the other dentist that I had several more cavities that needed fillings. They fixed the earlier filling for a reasonable price and did new x-rays that showed I did not actually have cavities that needed fillings. Since then, I have gone to see them for routine cleaning appointments. I get the best care everytime. It is always very quick and painless. They handled me to actually floss my teeth which is probably what speeds up the process and makes it pain-free. The office staff are likewise very friendly and professional. The office is located pretty far out for me, and there is another dentist office across the street from my apartment that would be much more convenient. This goes to show just how good Dr Carothers and his team are that I would rather drive all the way to them instead of walk across the street. This is hands down the best dental office in Portland. Can't conceive of a better dentist!

I’ve been going here for years. The staff are friendly and they actually care about their patients. Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years since I was a kid. My family won’t go anywhere else. He deeply cares about his patience and is always gentle.

I feel completely comfortable with Dr Carothers. He is the only dentist I will ever use for my two young children, my wife and myself.

I saw Dr. Dave for the first time a couple of days ago. Getting an appointment was easy and I did not have to wait when I arrived. The staff all are very friendly and everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. It was a good first experience.

The service and care provided by Dr. Carothers and the team are phenomenal. Everyone that works here is very respectful and genuine about helping their patients with their oral health and wellbeing.

Occasionally even staff need to get a shot from their dentist. : ((( By far and away the best 'shot' I have ever received from a dentist. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Dave for the most painless injections and the most beautiful dental work you will find in Portland.

Lacks compassion and professionalism. Dr. Carothers ended up putting two crowns on my grandmother's tooth, both of which fell off. He then refuted that and claimed they were separate crowns on different teeth. My grandma then wisely went to another dentist and her new dentist confirmed that it was in fact the same tooth, and the tooth itself was actually dead and had been for quite some time. Instead of receiving crowns, she first needed a root canal. How did Dr. Carothers fail to notice or at the very least communicate this crucial piece of information? He also was extremely unprofessional and rude to my grandmother. He told her she was going to die after she swore on her life her crown had fallen off again. I've had Carothers as my dentist ever since I was 4, and he does good work. He knows when to be gentle, and he knows how to handle his guests. His staff are incredibly friendly and polite. My only complaint is as soon as I enter the office, grab a juice and sit down, they're already ready for me, and I have to wait until my check up is done to get some of that sweet cranberry. I've been a patient of Dr.Dave since he started practice, and was a patient of his father before then. Dr Dave is by far the best dentist I've gone to (considering how good his dad was before he retired trust me that's saying a lot!) and I've gone to some very good dentists. The only reason I've ever gone to other dentists had to do with insurance coverage. Kaiser Permanente only allows you to use their in house dentists. They are prompt, friendly, caring and I really like the fact that Dr Dave keeps up on the latest advancements in dental care, procedures and technology. It isn't often that I make the time to review a business but in this case feel I have a sincere moral obligation for all mankind to do so. Little Preface first, For many years I feared the Dentist, the Dentist Office, the Dentist Chair and all associated mid evil torture tools within. I was truly under impression that all Dentist Professionals had some sick and twisted fetish for delivering pain to victims. Just the thoughts alone delayed my very necessary dental care for many of years. I was a sufferer living with constant tooth pain and Dental office anxiety became my normalcy. About 5 years ago, I went for a cleaning at an unnamed generic corporate dental clinic. The Dentist at said unnamed generic corporate dental clinic filled a cavity. The pain from the needle alone was unbearable. Seriously unbearable as I almost passed out and teared. After feeling like my jaw was squeezed in a vise by the Mafia because of unpaid gambling debts, the Dentist (or perhaps I should say student of) delivered more good news by informing me I needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled and wrote a referral for an Oral Surgeon... Said Surgeon was booked out for four months... This gave me more time to procrastinate the torture I was prepared to receive. I thought to myself, If It felt that bad filling a cavity, how bad is it going to feel to have them ripped out of my skull. To make a long story short, I never went and a Costco size bottle of Advil and no Ice cream became a normal part of my everyday life. This brings me to May of this year. Waking up with a throbbing tooth is no way to start the day, let alone Memorial Day. Yep, a holiday, perfect timing for a dental emergency. I was desperate, I was going to die and nobody was there to help. Fortunately, I recalled my sister was good friends with Ali (All Star Team member of Dr. Dave's Dentistry of Love) With selflessness regard, Tooth Goddess Ali, like a white winged angel sent from the heavens, rescued me like I was a drowning puppy stuck under the treacherous ice caps of Lake Superior in early January. After putting my mind and mouth at ease, Angel Ali and the gentle gifted hands of Dr. Dave removed the infected evil tooth. The exorcism, I mean extraction, took a little over two hours. The monster was so heavily impacted that Dr. Dave had to slay the beast into two pieces. Not only did Master Swordsman Carothers cut the tooth in two, he did so with less pain than the prior Dentist delivered to fill a wimpy cavity. Dr. Dave and Ali cleared all my negative thoughts on going to the Dentist. I've proudly been in their care ever since. All dramatic writing aside, Dr. Dave has a very soft hand and actually cares about the discomfort endured by his patients. The rapport between Dr. Dave and his Assistant Ali is like no other. Whether it's hilarious humor or guessing the artist of a song playing overhead, this dynamic duo does an amazing job of making you feel comfortable and pretty much making you forget you're even at the dentist. But it doesn't end there. Even days after care, I received a check up call concerned for my safety from the eccentrically hip Office Manager Sarah (who's very easy on the eyes guys if you know what I mean.) These people really do care! Everyone at Dr. David Carothers strives for excellence and it shows. I actually look forward to going to the dentist now! These folks should be all be recorded in the Dental Hall of Fame. A 100' Golden Tooth Statue engraved with all of their faces should stand tall for all the Dentistry professionals across the lands to worship. I and my mouth are eternally grateful. Thank You. I broke a tooth recently, and my mom suggested calling up Dr. Dave. Good call mom! My regular dentist told me the tooth either needed to be extracted or that I could have $3000 worth of work done to save it, and refered me to an oral surgeon who couldn't see me until mid September. Dr. Dave could see me right away, hurrah! He also went over the options, explaining the pluses and minuses of either choice, and didn't pressure me to do all the work that I couldn't afford when saving the tooth was questionable. I decided to get the tooth extracted. Dr. Dave and staff made the experience about as fun as possible, and did everything possible to ease my nerves. Even before I arrived in Portland, I spotted a Groupon for dental care services and decided this would be a good way to 'audition' a new dentist.
