David Evan Byrd

I went into New Bern hospital not being able to sallow. That turned into a emergency situation quickly. Dr. Byrd came immediately to the hospital to take care of me. He and his team were beyond excellent. After my procedure, I am completely healed. Absolutely no trouble at all. Forever gratefull.

Great doctor! Very knowledgeable and listens to your concerns. He was very informative about everything and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Byrd if you are in need of a gastroenterologist.

All around great doctor. Honest and highly knowledgeable. He focuses on overall health of his patients and gives ideas/tools to be successful at taking care of their health.

Outstanding Doctor. Went in there knowing I was going to hear things I didn't want to hear. Such is the nature of going to the doctor. Awesome doctor. Very knowledgeable and patient care minded.

I was treated like a demented crazy person who had to be kicked out, because I was trying to arrange a ride for after my endoscopy. The staff were friendly and helpful, but when I asked to talk to the doctor about it, he was aggressive, verbally abusive, and left me in tears. When I tried to explain that my ride was just around the corner, he got up in my face, pointing his finger and said loudly, basically, shut up, you will not be having this procedure. It was among the worst physician experiences of my life and I am in my sixties.

Excellent Physician. Sometimes you go to the doctor and you know they are going to tell you things you don't want to hear. That delivery is important. Everything was explained to me in technical terms with no condescension. It was what I needed to hear. Taking the extra time to explain all was greatly appreciated.

Outstanding Doctor. Very thorough, and very patient. Carefully answered all my questions regarding my procedure. Discussed benefits, and risks, and explained in detail the procedure itself. Demeanor was that of a skilled Doctor and not my best pal. Told me what I needed to hear and said it factually and professionally. Before I retired I was really good at what I did. This guy is really good at what he does. I appreciated the professionalism.

My experience with David Byrd was a nightmare. I was at the endoscopy Center for the procedure and had a driver arranged to take me home, but when I arrived was told I had to have someone there for the entire 2 hours. I was scrambling to make that happen and was being told after a while that it was against their policy to go ahead with a procedure if I didn't have someone there right then. I had someone arranged to arrive within a few minutes, and I asked to speak to someone about it. They said I could talk to Dr Byrd. When he came over to me in the area where patients were being prepared, he was super aggressive, glaring at me intensely above his mask and pointing and shaking his finger at me. When I tried to explain, he told me in a very loud threatening voice to be quiet. He then told me that I would not be getting the procedure today. He was rude, arrogant, his bedside manner was more than atrocious. It was threatening and completely inappropriate. It left me extremely upset and traumatized. This dr. Decides to discharge a patient because they' ve had to reshedule an appointment on 3 different times due to there job and not being able to get off. He really doesnt care if you lose your job but he' ll care when you cant pay your bill to him.

Dr. Byrd completed my 4th endoscopy yesterday. He is such a superb doctor that I do not have a need for sedation when he does my endoscopy, as a matter of fact he performed what is my last colonoscopy last year without sedation. He carefully performs the task in a very efficient manner keeping me informed of the progress. He helps me manage my Barretts Esophagus to the point that as long as I follow his recommended treatment I experience no discomfort. I am thankful for the professional care Dr. Byrd and his staff has provided me over the years.
