I am 2+ years cancer free. Dr. Barrera is a perfect mix of realistic honesty and genuine compassion. He has been consistently positive and supportive while never making me feel patronized or that he wasn’t being completely honest. I appreciate him and his staff immensely.

When I got upset about the recommendation for chemotherapy, Dr. Barrera, took my hand and tried to calm me. He is very sincere.

I was being seen by another physician and decided to ask my PCP to refer me to another doctor for a second opinion. After a consultation with Dr. Barrera, I decided to retain him as my new oncologist. My decision was based on his knowledge of my medical issues and his pleasant personality. I have recently completed my chemo treatment at Texas Oncology and hope that all is well. Overall, I'm satisfied with my medical decision to have Dr. Barrera as my MD.

I have been seeing Dr. Barrera for almost 17 years. He is a great doctor that will answer all your questions. He has taken good care of me all these years.

Dr. Barrera began treating me about 20 years ago for a blood clot disorder, called Leiden's Factor 5 Gene Mutation. He put me on Xarelto & up until last December it worked fine. However, after being on blood thinners for so many years, it was causing many uncontrollable nosebleeds, sending me to the ER, requiring a balloon put in my nose, then a week later having the balloon removed & ruptured nose veins cauterized. After 4 of these traumatic happenings, 3 of which occurred within 2 days in December & with his blessings & caring heart for what is best for me, my husband & I decided to stop the blood thinners. Dr. Barrera is a very compassionate doctor & he & his staff are amazing people & I highly recommend them & Texas Oncology to everyone in need of their expertise & services.

Dr. Barrera is always very friendly, personable, and patient! He takes his time to explain tests results and he listens & answers any questions we have had about my multiple myeloma diagnosis! He has made outstanding recommendations to BSW in Dallas to Dr. Berryman for a stem cell transplant. Dr. Barrera and his P.A., Mark maintain great communication with Dr. Berrryman so my maintenance treatments can continue in Ft. Worth as much as possible. Dr. Barrera’s experience & expertise are invaluable and his staff is a reflection of all of all of his qualities! Everyone on staff has been very knowledgeable, professional, caring, & supportive! There is a quick response time anytime I have called with a question or health concern. I would highly recommend Dr. Barrera to anyone facing cancer! We are very grateful, thankful & blessed to have him as a caring physician!

Hopefully this is the last time I will see Dr. Barrera professionally. He and his team literally saved my life. I had Stage 4 neck cancer in 2016. Because of him and the team there at Texas Oncology, I am here today. Dr. Barrera was always very professional and thorough, while still treating as a person he cared about. Can't say that about too many medical specialists these days. This last visit confirmed I am cancer free & will not be coming back to the facility.

Dr, Barrera and his staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Dr. Barrera has been treating me for Leiden's Factor 5 Gene Mutation, a blood clot disorder that was tested for & diagnosed in 2001, following a total hip replacement. I also have several family members who died of strokes from blood clots to their brains & hearts. My General Practitioner initially treated this disorder with Coumadin & later with Warafin but couldn't keep my numbers on track. She then referred me to Dr. Barrera & he prescribed Xarelto, which worked perfectly. I have been seeing him annually for many years & am now on the lowest dose/maintenance dosage for this blood thinner. Dr. Barrera is a very kind & knowledgeable physician who is very uplifting & always makes me feel secure in his taking care of my medical needs. I would certainly refer family & friends to Dr. Barrera. His staff are also exceptionally friendly & courteous & I appreciate Dr. Barrera & his staff & trust them explicitly.

Dr. Barrera is a very thorough physician. He listens to your concerns and doesn't try to 'hurry' you off. I really appreciate the TLC given by him and his nurse Melissa is impeccable! In fact, Texas Oncology is first rate and all the staff for that part are so polite, kind, loving, professional, and caring! I have been coming here since 2006 and I love everyone! I thank the staff for their way of making every one that enter the front door feel welcome! Feeling good about going to your Oncologist should be a happy experience and mine definitely is! Dr. Barrera has been my husband's Oncologist since his cancer was diagnosed in 2017. He discussed exactly what kind of cancer he had, how to treat it, and immediately started his treatments. He is very knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of cancer and its treatment. He always takes his time and discusses all questions we might have. He is the best. We would definitely refer others to him should they be looking for an Oncologist.

Dr Barrera treated my mother for Breast Cancer years ago (and cured her) And when my time came around with Breast Cancer I knew exactly who I wanted as my doctor. Mother are I are both BRCA2 so it felt good to know I was in the best care possible with Dr Barrera! I HIGHLY recommend!!

This visit was a follow-up check-up. I am always nervous when I go to the doctor. Dr. Barrera has an excellent bedside manner and always makes me feel more comfortable. He listens to me when I tell him any concern I have, and takes the time to explain any questions I may have. Dr. Barrera goes over all my reports with me and always asks if I have any questions. He is caring and kind. I have always received excellent care and would highly recommend Dr. Barrera to anyone. I have been a patient for 11 years.

I have been seeing Dr. Barrea for 7 years now and am very pleased with the treatment I receive from all of the personnel in the office. Dr. Barrera has been very thorough and advised of a need for a second surgery 4 years after one that was for a very obvious tumor. He and CT found the tumor very early and it is now gone too.

Dr. Barrera and his team treated me with real respect and guided me through my Lymphoma treatment with Chemo which I feel was the right path because after 1 year of being diagnosed I am in remission at this time.Took as much time as I needed to explain the process and what to expect.Chemo nurses were awesome

Very efficient staff and caring doctors.

Soon after my diagnosis, my internist referred me to Dr. Barrera. I remember our first meeting like it was this morning. He walked in, extended a big, warm handshake and I asked, "are you my new best friend?" He laughed such a calm, sweet laugh and said, "well, I don't know, let's see." That was 17 years ago, and yes, he was, and I am grateful beyond words, he still is. I can't recall ever encountering anyone so quiet, calm, warm, and reassuring, whether physician or lay person. On our first meeting, he explained thoroughly my diagnoses, staging, everything, and then presented me with all available treatment options, including surgery and chemo. He was up-to-the-minute on the latest "studies" and presented me with those findings, and finally mapped out my "path" for the coming months. Beyond all doubt, I simply knew he had my back. I left our first meeting, thinking, this was going to be okay. My experience over my 17 years, remains the same, he still has my back.

Dr Barrera explained my treatment plan to myself and my husband and let us understand the pros and cons and have a say in the treatment. It has been a scary time for us but he has helped and encouraged us to make it and feel hope.

Dr Barrera straightened out the mess my prior oncologist had made and after 6 long years on the right regimen I may be entering remission from an "uncurable Leukemia". Great doctor and great staff.

Dr. Barrera and all the staff at Texas Oncology went above and beyond to make me feel cared for. I always felt that Dr Barrera listened to every detail and I never felt rushed to explain. So glad I had my chemo treatments done there.

Dr Barrera has proven to me again and again how important he takes a role in my medical recovery. His requests for thorough analysis from his colleagues to help guide the decisions has been most impressive. I find his dedication to task in his field at the top of his field.

Dr Barrera is the most patient, thoughtful doctor. He never rushes. Answers all the questions. When it is time to make a decision on a treatment, consults with me. We are making great strides fighting Stage 3 lung cancer for three years withChemo in the beginning and now Immunotherapy and some radiation as necessary. I have never felt anxious about my prognosis as together we battle cancer together. Onward and upward.
