I’ve been coming to this office for about 3 years and today I had an appointment that I had rescheduled that I wasn’t informed was a retainer check. And honestly that’s not the problem because everyone makes mistakes. I told the front desk lady and the assistant that I wasn’t informed about it and they were nice about it. The problem was how Dr Allen handled it. Towards the end of the appointment he said “At every appointment you need to bring your retainer”. (That was the first time I’ve heard that because I’ve had a retainer for about a year and I only brought it in when they asked) So I told him that no one told me to bring in my retainer. This was what Dr Allen rudely said to me: “WELL NOW I TOLD YOU TO BRING IT”. He said it like it was my fault I wasn’t informed. The amount of hostility in his voice was so disrespectful. I’ve worked in customer service before so I expected him to say that it’s okay and I can bring it in next time, something that you would normally say to a patient or customer. No instead he acted like it was MY fault I wasn’t informed. I’ve never experienced such disrespect that I was shocked and I just asked if I was done with the appointment, said thank you, and left because I was shocked at his behavior. I called smile doctors and spoke to a very nice representative who I told everything that happened and she assured me that she would be talking to the managers. I’m leaving this review because I want others to know about Dr. Allen because this isn’t the first time when he’s been disrespectful, I’ve overlooked the other times because we all can have bad days, but I couldn’t stay silent this time because I experienced such awful treatment from him. I’m sure others have had pleasant experiences with him but personally I haven’t and I feel like it’s necessary to let others know about this. Thank you for taking the time to read this. What a find! This office staff and dr. Allen are above and beyond! He offers the best modern orthodontic care, where you won’t need an expander for the treatment for your child’s propper bite/jaw development. The entire staff is curtious, kind, accomodating, supportive and easy to work with. After visiting 3 more orthodontists, we went with dr. Allen. They offer free pre-care consulation and xrays. There are no nonsense fees. They handle the insurance claim. Everyone is professional and attentive! Dr. Allen was recommended by another family. He has been in business for a long time and knows what he is doing. They work with the best surgeon in the area in case you need surgical oral care, which we did. We are starting our 2nd child with orthodontic care soon and we are doing it with dr. Allen.

Smiles Doctors staff in Wheaton is friendly and professional. The office is clean and inviting. Both my kids got their braces at Smiles. My son usually did a closed mouth smile but after he got his braces off not anymore!

Smile Doctors of Wheaton have taken great care of me! Everyone is super friendly and they always make sure I understand everything they have planned. My insurance made payments super affordable too, and my teeth look amazing! Highly recommend!

This is my favorite dentist they treat me so good

Good and effective service, they have trained and effective orthodontists. The only takeaway is that their hours are awful. They are never open on weekends and are only open until 4 at the very latest during the week. So good luck going there as a student without missing school, or as a worker without missing work. Other than that, clean institution and wonderful people heading it. I recommend it, albeit cautiously.

I’ve had two kids through braces with Dr. Allen and his staff and they were great with both kids. Their smiles look great and the process went smoothly for everyone!

The staff helped make the whole process of starting Invisalign as smooth as possible. From the front desk, to the technicians in the back and finishing with Dr. Allen’s reassurance that he’ll make sure my teeth will come out the way I’ve always wanted them to. Highly recommend visiting this office for interest in starting Invisalign.

Mrs. Beth & Dr. David were such a great help during my first treatment. They were patient, honest, and thorough throughout the whole session. Always a pleasant visit. Dr. Allen and his staff are very nice and helpful. They explain what needs to be done clearly. I went to him as an adult for my braces and 12 years later my daughter got her braces. Next up is my son. You can't go wrong with Dr. Allen.

I have had two kids go through braces here. For a second phase and for younger children, I considered switching to a different orthodontist who was closer after we moved half an hour away. My older kids wouldn't hear of it! So I'm happy to be stuck with Dr. Allen for many more years to come!

I went to Grove Dental in Wheaton and got a quote for braces for my son and didn’t feel comfortable with their treatment plan and their professionalism. I got a second opinion with Dr. Allen and the treatment plan was much more straight forward! Dr. Allen and staff are so welcoming and responsive to any concerns.The assistants are always so nice and friendly. As an older adult getting invisaline treatment, I would recommend this team. It was a painless process. The results were great as well!

They have good snacks and don’t take too long to put on your braces.

I spoke with Beth for quite some time and she was the sweetest. She really helped me out and helped me to understand all my options. Dr. Allen's office is extremely welcoming. From the time I walked int he door until I walked out the door everyone was so friendly. In the first 5 minutes they give you a tour of their beautiful office and introduce you to everyone. I was there to get invisalign braces. They thoroughly went over the treatment and the cost. Dismissive attitude towards me and did not answer my question as they said they were busy :( During COVID did not tell me that there were multiple smile doctor's locations (even upon me directly asking) which resulted in me flying to Kansas City for appointments instead of the one that was half an hour away from me at Wheaton. Also, canceled my appointment after the flight had already gotten me there and did not refund my flight ticket. I just got my braces off and Jill was very kind and amazing, I highly recommend coming here. They have a very clean and neatly organized work area and whenever Dr. Allen would talk to me it would always brighten my day, he is always very positive and you can always have a good conversation with him.

My Wife has been going to Dr. Allen's office for years now. When I have joined her, I am always so impressed with their office. Dr. Allen did my first phase of braces before he was a smile doctor. He was great then and is STILL great now. He treats his patients like family. Even under the stress of COVID he keeps his office clean, safe, and his patients happy. Smile Doctors is SO convenient as a college student who is out of state and has to switch back and forth between school and home orthodontists. (Side note: Doctor Scott, a Colorado smile doctor, is also AMAZING!!) The whole transfer process (when switching from predominantly one smile doctor to another) is handled by them which was a little tedious/took a little more time than anticipated but we're in the middle of a pandemic, that's life right now. Even then everyone was SO kind, always able to answer questions, and help me in a prompt manner. I have worked with many doctors, dentists, orthodontists, etc because I have a lot of skeletal issues and many teeth problems and Dr. Allen is definitely one of my favorite people to go see! He is quick and efficient when you're in the office. They have good price deals and they're good with payment plans. I went to Dr. Allen with Smile Doctors as my son went to him for his braces a few years earlier. I was not sure that I wanted braces again, however I did want my teeth to be straight. I made an appointment and when they suggested Invisalign, I went that route. I am so happy that I did as my teeth are straight and the gap in the front is now gone. We have 4 children. Our oldest 3 are in their early 20s and had a wonderful experience with Dr. Allen. I wouldn't consider another orthodontist for our youngest who is just now needing braces. We were thrilled to learn that Dr. Allen is still on Willow Road in Wheaton...the name has changed to Smile Doctors, but Dr. Allen is still there and uses the Damon Braces product which has proven results. The time from start to finish was exactly as projected for each of our children and the entire staff from Beth to each technician and assistant is kind and professional. We wouldn't go anywhere else!
